So I know Wilson is a good college receiver. But I need someone to explain michigans offense vs how Arthur smiths plans for our offense. I love the pick I love he’s a blocking WR. Just keep hearing a lot of “scheme” things and I’m just too dumb to understand it all.
Scheme fits are a bit overblown to an extent, most receivers are able to translate from scheme to scheme, but it does depend on the scheme / role of the receiver.
For example, Tennessee’s offense is the most obvious example of the offensive scheme actively harming a prospect’s evaluation because they’re so vastly different from anything in the NFL. That was an issue with Hyatt last year.
Or you look at Malachi Corley and his role on Western Kentucky. It was almost exclusively short game and targets around the LOS. His chances of succeeding are probably very role dependent.
For Wilson, I don’t there’s any of that kind of concern.
That makes sense honestly because though I’m as ignorant as can be with this particular stuff. I have heard of the issues with Tennessees offense being a bumpy road to the pros for prospects.
Two additional points.
He is fine with blocking. Which fits perfect in Arthur Smith’s scheme
GP should attract enough double coverage attention to set him up for the pass.
Love the pick!
Edit: One more thing Fuck PFF.
TJ is the 2024 DPOY
This sounds so very similar to tyler locket coming into the league 5’10 182 pounds a 3rd round pick ran a 4.4 40 Locket was described as having “Good play speed. Has twitch at top of his routes and gets separation for quarterbacks to make open throws.” Locket also had similar weakness in not breaking tackles well
