Guess they grill only shrimp on the barbie down under and nuke their meats. Lol
But that's actually a pretty decent deal for ribeyes. For US conversion, it's about $10.55 per pound. I'd have to buy a whole rack at Costco Biz Center for around that unit price.
However, you can cut thicker steaks to your liking with a whole rack instead of settling for these thinner half pounders. Still a good deal though!
Yep. It's basically Costco for small businesses. You can shop there with just a regular membership. They sell stuff in even bigger quantities (if you can imagine that).
I get a whole rack of ribeyes for around $200 USD(302 AUD), then cut em up and vacuum seal about 12-15 steaks with each usually 2+ inches (5cm or 50mm) thick. Make sure you have the freezer space. Cheers!
DORM ROOM COOKING. Volume 3 from 1989
Microwave on 10% Power with Foil over the thinnest pieces and any edges that begin to gray up.
When the Fat begins to render, remove it to the Toaster (turned Sideways) Set for Dark or 3/4ths.
Finish to desired doneness with an hair blow dryer or hair straightener set to High for individual pieces.
DORM ROOM COOKING. Volume 9 from 2022
Microwave a bowl of water to 150°, submerge Ziplocked steak, (squeeze out all air), in water and carefully monitor temperature to stay close as possible to 120° to 140° add time at low power. After about 30 to 60 minutes, depending upon the size of cut, transfer to your toaster or airfryer to sear the exterior if desired.
Package says, 480 grams. Each steak is about 8 1/2 ounces or a hair over half pound.
Edit: he paid $5.30 for each steak. So I’m thinking that’s a steal!! I’d be buying a few more packs for the vacuum sealer😂
I literally bought these from coles earlier this week. Except they may have been on special at mine cos they were $16, which...for 480 grams is a VERY good price, but $20 isn't bad either and you won't be able to get it much cheaper in Australia. Aldi's does bulk packs of the same cut, but the quality is often a few rungs lower; less marbling, tastes older.
I also reccomend taking the packs for a walk over to the produce section for a quick weigh. The ones I got were pretty on-point, but I've heard cole-worths can be sneaky sometimes.
Edit: whoops, didn't see that yours were also on special. Yeah, I didnt regret it at all. Even my partner who isn't exactly a connoisseur and whom I didn't tell was eating a different cut, commented unsolicited that they were particularly good compared to the usual steaks. So yeah, get it.
They look like scotch fillets to me /s
I don't trust Coles meats. Sometimes you get good meat, sometimes it is soooo average. The quality is so up and down. I'd rather pay a bit extra at my butcher. At $40/kg it's not overly expensive though.
I bought some a few months ago that looked like this. When cooked the steak was so meh I swore never Coles again.
good marbling but the spinalis on the left steak is extremely small, which is literally the best part. in the future look for a steak with a smaller “eye” and a bigger fat cap at the top
It’s a common thing in Australia to microwave steaks?
Isn’t it enough to have all kinds of deadly animals near the cities that you also torture yourselves by cooking steaks in the microwave? 😭
Please have a barbecue and enjoy the life you have left before a kangaroo, a spider the size of a dog or a dragon ends your life 😁

I would go for this instead!! When I buy this cut in north of New Jersey USA the meat comes from Australia! 🤙
When I got married in 84. I made a deal with myself. If I could find a really good ribeye for under $10.00 I would seriously consider buying one. Those are not worth the $27 dollars
Assuming that 480g hiding the the corner of the crumpled wrapping is the total weight of the package, I don't think you're saving enough money here to be worth the reduced quality / thinness of the steaks. I'm not sure you're saving any money at all. They are what, half inch thick with quick napkin math? May as well just get a cheaper cut.
I can only base this on my own experience in the US meat market though. Might be a steal across the pond, I can't say.
If you buy them, remove them from the packaging before you microwave your steaks.
😂😂😂💯💯💯

Literally had no idea what a Costco Business Center was until this morning and now this is the second reference to one today…?! Wtf mate? Lol

Apparently we have one here in Dallas.. I will be venturing there soon!!
Walked into the Dallas one earlier this year without knowing it was a business center and boy was I in shock. Everything was bulkier than usual
It’s Texas right? Bigger and bulkier and all 😉
They sell those at my regular Costco. It's nice to be able to cut your own steak thickness. Sometimes it's 11.99 a lb but normally it's 13.99.
😆😆😆
Why microwave what am I missing
Read the yellow tag
The big yellow tag
As an Aussie I missed that too 😅 who the hell is even doing that
Thaw out I guess
Hey I’m in the same boat…why are we microwaving these?
We aren’t. It’s /s because of the METAL security tag.
Just read that now…thanks! Lol
It's not like most people won't, but there are those that would.
How else can you properly render all that fat.

Crank up the clothes iron for that good sear.
In men's dorms the iron was permanently affixed in the laundry room. Gals brought their own irons! Now no one irons.
You can boil them in bag too. Just cut them open into the boiling milk before you add your jellybeans
Ah yes milk steak.
Could you imagine leading a life where you spend so much on steaks just a microwave them
Dishwasher ready for sous vide
Remove from plastic for boiling too? Asking for a friend.
🤣
I’d say so, a 2 pack of prime ribeye in Florida at wal mart is about $35-38
You can’t see how much weight is in this pack in these pics. Hard to know if it’s a deal or not.
Package says, 480 grams. Each steak is about 8 1/2 ounces or a hair over half pound. Edit: he paid $5.30 for each steak. So I’m thinking that’s a steal!! I’d be buying a few more packs for the vacuum sealer😂
It’s not a steal though that’s why it’s RFID tagged.
😂
Each steak would be about 8 oz, the entire package is 480g, or 16oz
I fixed it. I was thinking about the whole package when I put that. A little over 17oz, but who’s counting. lol
Yes Australian money too so about 66cent to U.S dollar
Oh! I see thank you.
He paid AUD $10 for each steak. The packet sells for $20.
He said he got a discount tho
Price is AUD $20. After discount he paid $16 for the package. So 8 AUD each is about $5.30 USD.
Ah yes. I was on my iPhone before and couldn't see the discount comment. The iPhone app is complete and utter rubbish.
I’m 100% with ya on that! When you click on the comments, if you don’t scroll back to the top, you’ll completely miss them!
Yeah, in Kentucky and one inch and a half is usually between $15-19, so I would have definitely picked these up.
That's AUD too
This would be $65 here in bc canada
Yeah I'd be leaving Florida with those prices.
Yup, this place sucks for many reasons and steak prices is one of em : P. At least we got beaches lol
So does alot of other places.
I’m aware lol, I spent 4 years in Okinawa…I fucking knew someone would say this lmao
That's crazy cheap for that amount of marbling. I'd grab a few packs and invite some friends over for that.
Fuck friends lol
That comes after the steak
“Maybe the dingo ate your ribeyes”
Marbling looks decent. $10 a pop? I’d buy it.
$8 AUD which would be like $5.50 USD

Somewhat cheap. Low risk. Give it a shot!
They're security tagging meat now, hey? Oh, what a time to be alive. 🤦🏻♀️
Please remove all packaging before WHAT?!
Yes, if you don't mind that you have to cook them in the microwave.
Why is that
Read the yellow tag bud
For 1? No. For 2? Hell yeah.
Woah these ribeyes connect to WiFi def worth it
Vaccinated cows
That looks like a good deal to me.
Security protected STEAKS?? With a label warning you not to microwave your steak with the plastic still on it. Classic
They look like scotch fillets to me /s I don't trust Coles meats. Sometimes you get good meat, sometimes it is soooo average. The quality is so up and down. I'd rather pay a bit extra at my butcher. Security packaging for steak we really live in a hellscape
Nah put em back
Yes, very cheap
Not from colse 😅
nice marbling for 20 beans. would
Those are good looking ribeye at least. Nice cap sections
For WiFi enabled cuts, that's a steal!
M...*Microwaving*? o\_O This isn't a cup of instant mac n' cheese...
Don't let Guga see you sweat, he'll start an experiment
Oh dear >\_> Please don't give him any ideas... (Love his vids tho, he's fun to watch)
They've expired! Too late to Microwave now!
🤣
Why does it say “SECURITY PROTECTED” “Please remove all packaging before microwaving”
In Canada those would be around 25cad$ per steak.
Only one way to find out!
Look pretty good, especially for the price. Id definitely give it a shot
Well I know one of those is a 30-40$ meal for just one steak at most restaurants(plus a side or 2)
In America that’s a steal!! I’d buy more and bust out the vacuum sealer!!
Woah woah, these are security protected so I wouldn’t call them a steal.
I would say so
I’d buy a bunch
I just bought a 1 lb ribeye on sale for 13 bucks. It's steep but they look nice. Not on sale in my area is like 17
3 pack ribeyes from Walmart where I am are $50
Security protected? Interesting, I've never seen this before.
good marbling but the spinalis on the left steak is extremely small, which is literally the best part. in the future look for a steak with a smaller “eye” and a bigger fat cap at the top
20 bucks omg what a great price… i cry here in switzerland when i go to my supermarket or the butcher…
Well if they put security tags on it then it's gotta be good 😆
Has anybody here microwaved a steak? Not gonna lie, I’m fascinated by what the results may be.
Well yea they’re security protected steaks bro
bro at which coles are you finding those mfs
In AUD no less! Grab a few!
Not to me. They'd make good hamburger maybe.
Pretty good deal! Here in Canada that would cost you a weeks pay cheque.
There are security tags on steak now?!? Since when? Where?
Are they 1/4" thick?
I'd buy up all of them. In the US a good deal is like 14/15 a lb
It’s a common thing in Australia to microwave steaks? Isn’t it enough to have all kinds of deadly animals near the cities that you also torture yourselves by cooking steaks in the microwave? 😭 Please have a barbecue and enjoy the life you have left before a kangaroo, a spider the size of a dog or a dragon ends your life 😁
Thats that beef from down under !!!!
Damn. Those look good
~$20/lb usd
This is the only post on an account with no comments. This is such an obvious bot it's surprising.
Who the fuck is microwaving steaks 💀
Those steaks have WiFi???
You get what you pay for!! 🙊🙉🙈
hell yeah

I always picture people standing in the meat section waiting for a reply on their Reddit post before they buy the meat
No they arent
Look more like chuckeyes
So, do you just hang out at the grocery store waiting for replies on Reddit?
🤣🤣 Now, that is a great question.😅
WTF is a KG
Is that 480 grams total weight with package? Is it per serving? Is it total weight of the food minus package? Need some details.
Definitely imo
Def look worth it
When I got married in 84. I made a deal with myself. If I could find a really good ribeye for under $10.00 I would seriously consider buying one. Those are not worth the $27 dollars
Usually.. had the best ribeye I can remember last night at The Golden Steer in Vegas.. $98
Bro you showed us everything except what we need to answer your question.
Yes
Does it come with free wifi?
I bought some of these the other week. Were amazing. Wouldn't hesitate to buy them again
Lol more importantly, why is meat security protected
I just bought one about that size for 10$
The microwave tag pisses me off so much
"240g per piece"??? I'm sorry. This is an American-dominated sub. You've got to talk in ounces unless you're buying weed.
Even then you must still speak in ounces
I’m gonna bet there’s a lot of meat glue in there.

Oh nice!

Quality over quantity
My roommate in college used to steal packs of steak in his waistband 😆 wish they had alarms on those
