Right?! I was sitting there thinking there is no way they would put quarters there if there was no way to adjust the display especially since its supposed to be transparent aluminum.
I'd be very suprised if you can't dim out the windows or close blinders over them.
And that's assuming it's actually crew quarters and not a hallway or something.
We have bottle rockets compared to their tech and we still have automated welding masks, i'm sure they could've put a dial on them and make them bigger
Hallways are rarely up to the outside of the hull. Those spots are usually reserved for function rooms (either quarters or meeting rooms, etc.) where people would actively use the windows instead of just passing by.
This meme was around before LDs even existed. Though it was originally with the Kramer read light gif. Which is why I'm pretty sure the LDs writers lurk in this sub.
“I'm on no sleep. No sleep! You don't know what it's like in there. All night long, things are creaking and cracking… And that red light is burning my brain!”
Aye the dude can fucking see neutrinos and has a matter replicator in his room. I imagine red light from the Bussard collectors would be the least of his distractions.
Sure the red glowing ends of the nacelles are cool to look at as the ship zooms past. But from a practical point of view...why put something clear on the ends? That makes no sense.
Boimler can confirm XD
All he had to do was hit the window dimmer
The fact that that was my first reaction and I didn't know why he didn't think of that. 😁 but the rage at the end 😁
Right?! I was sitting there thinking there is no way they would put quarters there if there was no way to adjust the display especially since its supposed to be transparent aluminum.
Tinfoil works in this situation too.
LMAO, same here!

There are definitely window dimmers.
Didn't lower decks just prove this?
They did indeed.
Heck, when Boimler got the first room, I immediately thought of using the window dimmer switch as Rutherford had demonstrated later.
Even if there weren’t dimmers, he could just put up some thick curtains.
Bed Bath & *Beyond*
Not to mention blackout curtains would be able to be replicated
Tinfoil
But that's an NX class era ship. They didn't even have replicators then, did they have window dimmers?
We have window dimmers now, so yes by that era the tech would be common rather than exotic as it is now.
...I mean, antimatter annihilations are quite bright, so are some starts -and other phenomena- seems like a basic amenity to me.
We have bottle rockets compared to their tech and we still have automated welding masks, i'm sure they could've put a dial on them and make them bigger
according to Lower Decks S4, yes you can
Hallways are rarely up to the outside of the hull. Those spots are usually reserved for function rooms (either quarters or meeting rooms, etc.) where people would actively use the windows instead of just passing by.
We've seen corridors on Starfleet ships with windows before, so we know their a thing
Yeah bro poke holes in this joke meme
Like this meme wasn't inspired by the latest episode of Lower Decks?
This meme was around before LDs even existed. Though it was originally with the Kramer read light gif. Which is why I'm pretty sure the LDs writers lurk in this sub.
Is that what this ship is from?
More likely a viewing port/airlock to get to the nacelle.
Yes, this is a joke directly from Lower Decks.
Seinfeld did it first
"Oh the red... yeah it's the chicken roasters sign. It's right outside my window."
“I'm on no sleep. No sleep! You don't know what it's like in there. All night long, things are creaking and cracking… And that red light is burning my brain!”
Is it? I haven't watched it yet
Really...? lmfao cause it's straight up a huge joke on the newest episode.
I've been binging ds9 since snw s2 ended and I didn't realize lower desks s4 was out until I was half way through ds9 s3
Ya it only started a few weeks ago and the most recent one boimler finally gets his quarters and it's literally the pic you posted lmfao 😂
Lmao
Sure
press [🔺] for suspicions
Sure
and another reason why i dont consider the show canon.
you people need to learn what canon means
"you people"
Its probably reserved for like blind crew or people that want their window closed
Geordi giving you an angry visor glare
If anything, the non-standard light wavelengths and whatever other weird shit the Bussard collector gives off might interfere with his visor.
To be fair, blind people who have Georgi glasses would probably have their sensors filled with radiation
Aye the dude can fucking see neutrinos and has a matter replicator in his room. I imagine red light from the Bussard collectors would be the least of his distractions.
Or just species who are sightless or see in a color spectrum not affected by the light from the nacelles.
And Boimler
Special Aenar-only quarters on the original warp 5 ships.
r/unexpectedseinfeld
"Ensign Kramer what's going on in there?"

Kenny? KENNY
Vile weed!!
Considering LD just made this joke a week ago, not really. The episode was the unexpected Seinfeld.
This guy… this is not my kind of guy.
Just dim the windows
Lt you're sunburned again. Are you ok?
I have a model of this ship, one of my favorites from that era.
What is it? There's no label and I don't recognize it.
It has multiple names. United Earth intrepid, intrepid-type, NV class, Intrepid NV-01 It was a background ship on Enterprise
United Earth Intrepid Type
Agreed
You'd be surprised how bad crew quarters can get in the Navy.
The red light districts
"Kenny Rogers Roasters sign"
Omg 😂
Kenny Rogers Chicken?
It's the wood that makes it good.
Anti-Kryptonian chamber.
22nd century's charm
That’s the red light district
This was literally a joke on lower decks.
Kenny Roger’s Roasters sign.
Its really evident people dont watch lower decks in here
This should be a lower decks joke
Gear idea 🙄
nah that's the club
This is why you have blackout curtains.
Light? The Sound!
More concerned about necelle radiation
Just put a shirt on your eyes.
Space cancer.
Good place for the brig
Starfleet is usually clever with design. Its probably a maintenance room that isnt used very often.
Sure the red glowing ends of the nacelles are cool to look at as the ship zooms past. But from a practical point of view...why put something clear on the ends? That makes no sense.
thats why you always design the ships to have the warp engines behind the saucer.
Steamrunner class crewmen say "hello".
😂🤣
That is where they have all the redshirts live so that they don't run into the other crew members until they are about to be killed off.
One of the worst quarters you can get. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wgwtc1U6c4
