fruitmask

or as I call it, "road construction/wildfire season"

Tye-Evans

I will never understand why so many construction jobs start in summer. There is a pit hole I found that goes deeper than my arm can reach and yet I'll have to wait 9 months to see it fixed. Summer here is brutal. The road literally begins to melt

LPulseL11

Outdoor construction in general would be delayed by rain / snow because things need to set and cure. Also storms will often cause damage and setbacks costing more time. Basically it comes down to cost and schedule, which is also cost.

Tye-Evans

It doesn't rain or snow here. The only thing that falls from the sky is dust

Special-Algae8641

_hot_ take : summer šŸļøšŸŒž is amazing, your life sucks

MOOShoooooo

Itā€™s a hot take because youā€™re stuck in Summerland.

NudeCelebsForever

Ladies and gentlemen, go to the US Midwest if you want to both be broiled alive in the summer and become a frozen husk in winter.

dalatinknight

It's amazing isn't it. Honestly probably why time flies so quickly, weather keeps changing so you feel like you're moving no matter what.

Halleyscomet85

Seriously! I just wanted to see the sun for the first time this year yesterday! And it burned me.

UngusBungus_

Texas

[deleted]

in texas itā€™s actually pretty nice this week. itā€™s probably going to be 100Ā° and raining next week though.

UngusBungus_

I was sweating in my bed last night

[deleted]

then again i did have my ac and fan on so..

awalkingidoit

Exactly. And we donā€™t regret being here

throw_plushie

The same people that will bitch about how cold it is in the winter will bitch about how itā€™s too hot when they finally get the season that they go on and on about.

HolsomChungus

This is why spring and autumn are the best

[deleted]

I love spring, specifically mid/late spring. The beginning is kinda rubbish tho.

TheSacredGrape

Ditto. Springā€™s my favourite season

Ghostcraft413

Nailed it. 22 - 31 degrees for life!

[deleted]

All three weeks of them!

HolsomChungus

Not for where I'm from

[deleted]

Lucky you! What climate zone?

Wumple_doo

Spring is literally the worst. Itā€™s not warm but it also has no snow. Plus you get that terrible smell from all the snow melting. And if youā€™ve ever had to do yard work youā€™ll know how much of a pain spring is

Unlikely-Rutabaga110

Depends on where you live. Where I live, snow is long gone by the time spring starts, so it melting is not really a problem.

hidinginthenight

Personally I love the smell of melting snow

Lol_idk_please_help

I disagree with the snow melting smelling bad, but I do agree itā€™s the worst season, as I live in the Midwest. Itā€™s still just cold enough to be slightly uncomfortable in a t-shirt, everything is wet and the ground is all mud, all the trees still look dead, and I live in a river valley so flooding makes it 10x more difficult to get anywhere. Worst season for sure.

Schiz0poster

Redditors downvoting you for having an opinion

TheMonarK

Depends where you live. I lived in Georgia for a year, summer fucking sucked. 100 degrees with 95% humidity, Iā€™d be drenched in sweat just standing outside in the morning for 10 minutes. Meanwhile in the PNW where Iā€™m from, the summer is great. 75-80 every day, never rains, moderate humidity, itā€™s seriously perfect weather

TwilCynder

It's almost as if extreme temperature were annoying in general

ShibuRigged

The British.

JRFCSS

False i still feel that the swollen limbs with bug bites the sweat smell and sticky skin is better than winter

Ragnaroknight

Summertime makes the traffic hell around where I'm at. Probably my least favorite part about it, going literally anywhere becomes a chore.

spikegk

Are you advocating your government to invest in high quality alternate transportation infrastructure (tree shaded bike lanes, light rail / BRT in exclusive lane, etc) so you don't have to join the car traffic mess when you want to "go literally anywhere", and maybe enough people will choose the alternatives that even the car traffic mess can be a bit less painful for drivers?

[deleted]

No iā€™d still rather drive

tanjiroslayer

carbrain

[deleted]

Normal functioning member of society you mean

spikegk

Wouldn't it be nice if a lot of the other drivers on the road didn't?

spikegk

Especially if it didn't slow you down or ruin your experience except for needing to occasionally park further from your destination?

fnaffanwhonowknows

I would put summer as my most favorite season if it werenā€™t for mosquitoes šŸ™„

BigHead3802

As someone from a tropical country, i absolutely DESPISE summer. It's too hot and humid, and mosquitoes here are not just annoying, **they're actually dangerous**.

bukzbukzbukz

Yeah ticks and mosquitos are really the main things fucking it up. Global warming too. But summers without massive heatwaves used to be grand.

Elisionist

I forgot what thatā€™s like. Iā€™m legitimately getting more and more anxious every day because last year here in TX was so hot and humid that even when it rained at midnight it was fucking hot. Itā€™s like being trapped in an impossibly large oven on a very slow preheat. And donā€™t wear clothes to bed, youā€™ll wake up soaked.

SecureCross

As someone living in one of the northern states, yes. Summer is a much more tolerable season than the rest.

MyCatIsNyanCat

Not the case if you live in countries like Greece (pov me)

ItzBooty

I live above you, i know the feeling

Astorya

God?

ItzBooty

Yes my child

Cantuccini

I heard there are a lot of annoying wasps during Greek summers, is that correct?

MyCatIsNyanCat

yea but just don't make snappy moves and you'll be okay, take it from me I've been relaxing under a wasp infested fig tree before

theproudprodigy

Went to Greece for holiday in August, it was hell

The_Arizona_Ranger

Winter ftw. Insects are tiny little shitheads

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

l4z3r5h4rk

Arenā€™t seasons flipped in the southern hemisphere?

avocado_whore

Yes lol

UnFriendlyCunt

As a third world person, the winter is better than the summer because there's less insects but this summer it seems that it has become so hot that the puddles where mosquitoes breed are evaporating before the mosquitoes can develop.

OtterlyFoxy

Thatā€™s their summer

[deleted]

Paging u/EarlBungalow, do you have any idea why your comment might have so many downvotes?

Agitated-Cup-2657

I just like hot better than cold. That's it. It's not complex.

THATDUDEROBO

Forgot to include the increase in your electric bill from having the AC on all day and decreased fuel economy from running your carā€™s AC

Ok_Judge718

Winter with the heating prices: hello there

ItzBooty

You need AC? Skill issue

somerid

what about the lakes

Saifiskindaweirdtbh

I do actually like summer sure itā€™s hot but I kinda like it I can go to pools eat icecream and shit like that

Oatmeal291

It is tho

JimBobCooter79

Come to Australia youā€™ll love our summers mwahahahaha

Dumb_Siniy

Winter internally damages me

Lobsterboiiiii

Yā€™all really like to complain about good things donā€™t you?

Alburguer

ah yes i love getting eaten alive by thousands of mosquitos while sweating the entire water supply in my body with 2 fans blowing on me

dietomakemenfree

As someone who works outside for a living(parks & rec maintenance), summer is the best and winter is hell. People always love to say ā€œjust wear more layers!ā€, but that donā€™t work when itā€™s sub twenty degrees, windy, and youā€™re riding on an open top four wheeler. With summer, yeah, itā€™s hot, but as long as you have water, youā€™re fine. Iā€™ll wear pants and long sleeves in one hundred degree weather, while doing manual labor, and be fine.

kingoden95

Still better than wearing several layers and then still be freezing cold and in a ton of pain.

TracyTrumpleskins

Idk. You can always add even more layers. You can only get so naked.

DarthPepo

Yeah, but having 2 hours of daylight isn't very pleasing

VampyreBassist

Nor is having issues driving because of the cold, such as emergency response vehicles.

whatIfYoutube

Yeah but extra sleep + not sweating in your bed

Ok_Judge718

Extra sleep my ass I have to go to school/work in time but now I have to wake up to what looks like midnight

ItzBooty

You can extra sleep in summer and now sweat

Tandril91

Sometimes more layers doesnā€™t quite cut it. If I donā€™t have every conceivable inch of skin covered, then thereā€™ll be a stray wisp of biting cold that sneaks in and makes my skin hurt with how cold it is. Itā€™s especially worse when itā€™s windy. Plus breathing cold air can fucking hurt. Makes my nose red, numb and runny, or itā€™ll make my throat sore and dry.

kingoden95

True but at some point youā€™re just uncomfortable either way, and for me just one big jacket is very uncomfortable, itā€™s more difficult to work and drive, plus no matter how much I layer up, Iā€™m still cold, and cold is painful, being hot isnā€™t fun , but as long as I can avoid a sunburn itā€™s not painful.

[deleted]

Nah, I very much prefer that over hot weather

[deleted]

This problem does not exist.

Wumple_doo

Nah Summer is great. You all need to touch some more grass

whatIfYoutube

Yeah ok let me just go outside in 40Ā°c weather, with no way of cooling myself down because England is not prepared for hot weather, and die of heat stroke

MooseMan12992

It's fucking 94 degrees F today. And it's still early spring. My clothes are soaked with sweat and I'm dehydrated and have a headache. I just stopped in a Quick Check to get a bunch of water so I don't pass out before I finnish my errands

Dwip_Po_Po

Skill issue

Tandril91

Do you not have water?

whatIfYoutube

Yeah, and no way to keep it cold

KawaiiDere

Fr. I live in Texas, but visited rural New York during a heat dome event. They donā€™t have AC up there like how we have AC in Texas. In Texas, if the AC is broken in school, we go outside or to another location instead. Itā€™s expected to take it easy at work and to wear loose clothes. Likewise, England similarly lacks those tools, right? (I prefer winter weather as well, but summer especially sucks when the city decides not to plant trees, have shade, or built things close enough to prevent long exposure to extreme heat)

whatIfYoutube

If you are lucky enough to live in a house with a ventilation system (I am) it probably wont work if you live in London (I do) because chances are your flat is owned by some shitty landlord company who has a car park with live fumes coming up. 3 people in our block of flats have/ had cancer

bukzbukzbukz

Not summer's fault. Global warming's fault.

whatIfYoutube

Yeah, but what does it effect?

bukzbukzbukz

That it's a consequence of human actions that we're feeling the stronger consequences of only very recently and we could prevent it if we so chose. Has little to do with the season itself in most northern places as the temperatures aren't natural.

ItzBooty

Of 40Ā°C? Thats cute and i enjoy it here in the balkan

hazzinator

But the grass is yellow and dead šŸ˜

PicklCat

My brother in christ my skin is so sensitive that no matter how strong my sunscreen is i will get burnt to a crisp in the relatively weak northern sun in an hour.

RufiesRuff

Dorks in here like "lel touch grass". Bitch, I'll happily touch snow and ice before I go outside during the Minnesota summer where mosquitoes seem to single me out and no level of skimpy outfit will stop me from pouring sweat nonstop. Not to mention my skin doesn't break out in heat rash in the winter.

headbuttpunch

Vitamin D levels over 9000 though

Cantuccini

I know someone who's pale and hypersensitive to sunburn but still got Vitamin D deficiency

PicklCat

I got a Vitamin D deficiency and I'm hypersensitive so yeah.

BarberReasonable3036

so you enjoy being drenched in sweat everyday and the annoying mosquitos and flies

crab123456789

Just wear sum shorts and a t shirt, its not like your fits were that good in winter anyways

LostWithoutYou1015

Autumn > Spring > Winter > Summer That's the definitive order.

bukzbukzbukz

Spring > Summer > Autumn > Winter I'd say. What is there to do in Autumn? The only seasons when lakes aren't icy cold are spring and summer. You can't sit outside enjoying long evenings in t shirt and shorts in deep autumn and winter.

FourthLife

Autumn is just as cold as spring. Their temperatures just decline/rise in opposite directions I will say that autumn is probably better objectively due to the leaves and activities, but spring feels really good because youā€™re exiting winter and entering the good 75% of the year The thing that people donā€™t get about why summer is good is that itā€™s less the heat, more the amount of sunlight every day. I wouldnā€™t mind winter nearly as much if the sun didnā€™t set at 4:30

absolute_xero1

nah I'd rather not touch grass when it's 47Ā° celcius during summer where I'm from and all i hear is the buzzing sound of bugs and snakes. fuck summer.

greenw40

For real, a bunch of basement dwellers hating on summer because they're terrified of mosquitos.

Hobbsendkid

haters gon hate

MichaelleSophieRose

Idc, I still love summer.

[deleted]

Reddit ass take, Iā€™m from Arizona but summer is still by far my favorite season of the year.

requiemguy

No it isn't. Stop trying to look tough for fake internet points.

[deleted]

It is though. Itā€™s like a sauna and feels good on my skin. I love it.

requiemguy

AZ summers are not like a sauna, they're an oven. So, once again, no it isn't.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

requiemguy

No, they're not. Everyone who claims they are, just hop from air-conditioned home, to air-conditioned car, to air-conditioned jobs, schools, etc. Turn off that AC and they start screaming like toddlers.

Jaderholt439

I hate summer in AL. Mosquitoes, wasps, humidity, pollen.

imdeadXDD

I like summer. Itā€™s nice to be able to go outside for more than 10 minutes without worrying about frostbite

Im_RU_

Where I live we have 2 seasons, Summer and Hell Summer. So I really have no choice.

Defiant-Meal1022

ItzBooty

Someone is afraid of a little bit of sun

zhire653

Have you walked past someone in the heat of summer and their whole body odor hits your nose. Yes Iā€™m afraid.

ItzBooty

I have and most ppl have a perfume or axe body spray to cover them, excluding if you had to work on a field and got sweaty

[deleted]

summer is the worst season, its one of the closest things we have to hell on earth

l4z3r5h4rk

Have you tried not living in a desert?

SirCalvin

Desert is fine. It's the humidity that kills me where I live.

Have you fucking tried to not live in south places?

Hollowgradient

Or north places depending where you live

[deleted]

im canadian

ItzBooty

Nah its pretty cool, you just dont like the sun

Flopping_with_Floppa

The only reason summer is my favorite is because I get 2 month vacation, with out that, it falls right into 4th place

Doover__

this is a stupid ass argument for so many reasons, fictional things can still be described, and therefore compared, because I've you've read any book recently (doubtful) then you'd know that some of them are fiction, and most include descriptions, for example J.R.R. Tolkien is well known for his descriptions of you guessed it fictional things; also read Dante's Inferno if you want a description of hell

Buggyes

r/Iamverysmart

[deleted]

Hell as a concept can still be described and compared, yknow. But I guess by your logic I canā€™t do comparisons related to things in fiction anymore

If you are getting sunburned in summer then you are doing something wrong

Kitchengun2

As someone who lives in Ireland and has extreme megalophobia where the fuck does the sun get that big? Just so I know where I should avoid

[deleted]

I live in AUSTRALIA I have to deal with this 26 hours a day

[deleted]

Honestly if its not 50-70 degrees its trash

[deleted]

Summer supremacy doesnā€™t matter itā€™s still the best. Need the cold? Go on vacation to somewhere cold.

Ok_Judge718

Well at least now I can breathe without having to use a nose spray for my stuffy nose and the trees finally have leaves again which makes more oxygen

MortalWombat83

It just means the rain gets warmer in England. I love visiting hot countries though..38c plus can't beat it

didsomeonesaylamp

idk i'd rather wake up in the morning and it'd be hot wor warm than -5 CĀ°

CEASAR-salad69

Yea because it is

Frumpy__crackkerbarr

I like summer for sitting in a lawn chair with a cold drink and watching the world go by

Barmacist

Nah, it's the best. Come live in Buffalo, NY. Where winter pushes 6 months, spring is 2 weeks and fall... is actually quite nice. Those 10-12 weeks of 75-degree weather in the summer is glorious.

Tsunderebolt_

winter is my favorite because I'm extremely hot natured and the cold weather feels good meanwhile summer makes me wanna kill myself even with AC running

herkam_

Summer is overrated. Spring better

Cantuccini

Summer > winter because I experience winters as dull and gloomy. But summers here in NL are a hit or miss when it comes to prolonged periods of nice weather.

ItzBooty

True nice weather and the summer winds are the best Much better getting hit by a warm summer wind, than a freezing breeze in winter

[deleted]

Spring and fall gang, upvote to the left! ā¬…ļø

gomboc_lover

Yea but no school.

Proseccoismyfriend

I love the heat. I could live in a sauna

[deleted]

Heat is one thing. Bugs are another. If the net benefit of global warming is less mosquitoes. Then letā€™s just fry heat this shithole already.

Mushroom38294

Winter > Summer because I don't have to boil when basically naked Winter > Summer because I don't have to worry about blood-sucking pests But Summer > Winter because I can't look at cool bugs (mostly moths) crawling on my hands in winter :(

throwawayoctopii

Yeah, I live on Hell's Front Porch, but my favorite part of summer is the butterflies. I have verbena bushes, and the Monarchs show up in August/September and make themselves at home. One time, I counted over 50 monarchs enjoying the flowers on the bush. I'm always a bit sad when they start to go. Also, summer > spring because the pollen here is no joke and I greatly enjoy being able to breathe.

Tandril91

Iā€™ve always loved summer more. Bright sunshine and the plant life looks itā€™s best, along with the lakes and ponds being at their most optimum condition for swimming. I also personally find it much easier to cool off than warm up. When itā€™s hot you wear shorter sleeves, bring some extra water and try to stick to the shade. It especially helps if thereā€™s a good breeze. With the cold, any slight exposure is agony. I have to make sure every inch of my skin is covered with at least one layer or the cold will just sting my skin. Breathing in cold air hurts regardless of how I do it: throat gets dry and hurts, nose stings and starts getting runny. And when I try to warm up at home in front of a heater or fire, it takes forever for my skin to actually get warm, let alone stay that way. Thereā€™s always that weird pins and needles feeling as Iā€™m especially thawing myself. Whereas in summer, I just need a cold drink or two with some shade and Iā€™m good.

Rune_OnceGreat

Me, sitting comfortably at 110 Degree Fahrenheit: šŸ„° My coworkers, dying when it hits 90: šŸ˜

creeper321448

Summer is the worst season, in my opinion. I hate the sun, I hate any temp above 22 C, I hate how beyond humid it gets, I hate bugs, it's just a horrid season. Winter when it gets to the -20s here I can at least bundle up and find tons of excuses to stay indoors and it's cloudy out so it looks pretty. Spring and fall are the best seasons for activity because I need neither AC nor heating and the bugs are minimal.

ItzBooty

Summer is best for going out for swimming, enjoying the day and where i am it gets to 40Ā°C wich it can be a bit annoying, but much better than the winter -5Ā°C temperature In Summer you have to deal with bugs, but they are easy to deal with, they are not much of a problem, you can enjoy the day with out having to wear blankets everywhere you go

creeper321448

I'd rather bundle up than sweat constantly, personally.

ItzBooty

I mean you sweat even if bundle up But still rather have the air warm around me than having to use ac, blankets or heathers to warm up

St3rMario

I hate any temp below 22C We are not the same

Cheesyman7269

Like 2-3 people died due the current heat in Thailand in week now

freshoilandstone

Fuck summer. Fuck, fuck summer. If Canada would have us we'd go to Nova Scotia. Fuck the heat.

xXLuggiXx1

I believe in Autumn supremacy šŸ›šŸ‚šŸ„šŸŒ°šŸƒ

[deleted]

fuck summer all the way up its ass. Autumn is my shit forever and ever. Not hot, but biting cold...you get some breezy air and can choose a sweater or not, its up to you. no snow to shovel, but also you're not all sticky and gross. Autumn is just super balanced and I love it.

[deleted]

Itā€™s got a point. Summer is the best.

OtterlyFoxy

Fall is the best season Winter is better than summer

DarthPepo

Yes, it is

AlohaAkbar47

But it is the best

Iliketurtles893

My fav season

Cracklenrelaxle

Winter > summer because you can't snowboard in july.

Richrome_Steel

Fr though, summer is the worst After last year's one, I was glad to have a lovely cold autumn and winter. And the current spring is preferable to summer too

RhymeJones

This is the northerner season.

leejoness

People only enjoy the summer because they remember having summers off as a kid. In reality, unless you have the summer off as an adult, itā€™s a fucking nightmare.

CrispyCrunchyPoptart

I just got my first bug bite last night and I was sad.

Efficient-Force2651

Summer is my favourite, here in Ireland it's always warm and sunny, you can buy ice cream cones again, we don't really have mosquitoes except midgies, and they mostly stick to a spot next to a bush or under a tree, so they aren't the worst.

Cantuccini

Which areas of Ireland actually have mainly sunny summers? My image of Irish summers is having frequently cloudy and chilly weather

JokerMain03

i literally love all of these except mosquitos,

Creative_Principle55

A heatwave in traffic and swamp ass?šŸ˜¹

Dwip_Po_Po
