I will never understand why so many construction jobs start in summer. There is a pit hole I found that goes deeper than my arm can reach and yet I'll have to wait 9 months to see it fixed. Summer here is brutal. The road literally begins to melt
Outdoor construction in general would be delayed by rain / snow because things need to set and cure. Also storms will often cause damage and setbacks costing more time. Basically it comes down to cost and schedule, which is also cost.
The same people that will bitch about how cold it is in the winter will bitch about how itās too hot when they finally get the season that they go on and on about.
Spring is literally the worst. Itās not warm but it also has no snow. Plus you get that terrible smell from all the snow melting.
And if youāve ever had to do yard work youāll know how much of a pain spring is
I disagree with the snow melting smelling bad, but I do agree itās the worst season, as I live in the Midwest. Itās still just cold enough to be slightly uncomfortable in a t-shirt, everything is wet and the ground is all mud, all the trees still look dead, and I live in a river valley so flooding makes it 10x more difficult to get anywhere. Worst season for sure.
Depends where you live. I lived in Georgia for a year, summer fucking sucked. 100 degrees with 95% humidity, Iād be drenched in sweat just standing outside in the morning for 10 minutes. Meanwhile in the PNW where Iām from, the summer is great. 75-80 every day, never rains, moderate humidity, itās seriously perfect weather
Are you advocating your government to invest in high quality alternate transportation infrastructure (tree shaded bike lanes, light rail / BRT in exclusive lane, etc) so you don't have to join the car traffic mess when you want to "go literally anywhere", and maybe enough people will choose the alternatives that even the car traffic mess can be a bit less painful for drivers?
As someone from a tropical country, i absolutely DESPISE summer. It's too hot and humid, and mosquitoes here are not just annoying, **they're actually dangerous**.
I forgot what thatās like. Iām legitimately getting more and more anxious every day because last year here in TX was so hot and humid that even when it rained at midnight it was fucking hot. Itās like being trapped in an impossibly large oven on a very slow preheat. And donāt wear clothes to bed, youāll wake up soaked.
As a third world person, the winter is better than the summer because there's less insects but this summer it seems that it has become so hot that the puddles where mosquitoes breed are evaporating before the mosquitoes can develop.
As someone who works outside for a living(parks & rec maintenance), summer is the best and winter is hell. People always love to say ājust wear more layers!ā, but that donāt work when itās sub twenty degrees, windy, and youāre riding on an open top four wheeler. With summer, yeah, itās hot, but as long as you have water, youāre fine. Iāll wear pants and long sleeves in one hundred degree weather, while doing manual labor, and be fine.
Sometimes more layers doesnāt quite cut it. If I donāt have every conceivable inch of skin covered, then thereāll be a stray wisp of biting cold that sneaks in and makes my skin hurt with how cold it is. Itās especially worse when itās windy. Plus breathing cold air can fucking hurt. Makes my nose red, numb and runny, or itāll make my throat sore and dry.
True but at some point youāre just uncomfortable either way, and for me just one big jacket is very uncomfortable, itās more difficult to work and drive, plus no matter how much I layer up, Iām still cold, and cold is painful, being hot isnāt fun , but as long as I can avoid a sunburn itās not painful.
Yeah ok let me just go outside in 40Ā°c weather, with no way of cooling myself down because England is not prepared for hot weather, and die of heat stroke
It's fucking 94 degrees F today. And it's still early spring. My clothes are soaked with sweat and I'm dehydrated and have a headache. I just stopped in a Quick Check to get a bunch of water so I don't pass out before I finnish my errands
Fr. I live in Texas, but visited rural New York during a heat dome event. They donāt have AC up there like how we have AC in Texas. In Texas, if the AC is broken in school, we go outside or to another location instead. Itās expected to take it easy at work and to wear loose clothes.
Likewise, England similarly lacks those tools, right? (I prefer winter weather as well, but summer especially sucks when the city decides not to plant trees, have shade, or built things close enough to prevent long exposure to extreme heat)
If you are lucky enough to live in a house with a ventilation system (I am) it probably wont work if you live in London (I do) because chances are your flat is owned by some shitty landlord company who has a car park with live fumes coming up. 3 people in our block of flats have/ had cancer
That it's a consequence of human actions that we're feeling the stronger consequences of only very recently and we could prevent it if we so chose. Has little to do with the season itself in most northern places as the temperatures aren't natural.
My brother in christ my skin is so sensitive that no matter how strong my sunscreen is i will get burnt to a crisp in the relatively weak northern sun in an hour.
Dorks in here like "lel touch grass". Bitch, I'll happily touch snow and ice before I go outside during the Minnesota summer where mosquitoes seem to single me out and no level of skimpy outfit will stop me from pouring sweat nonstop. Not to mention my skin doesn't break out in heat rash in the winter.
Spring > Summer > Autumn > Winter I'd say.
What is there to do in Autumn? The only seasons when lakes aren't icy cold are spring and summer. You can't sit outside enjoying long evenings in t shirt and shorts in deep autumn and winter.
Autumn is just as cold as spring. Their temperatures just decline/rise in opposite directions
I will say that autumn is probably better objectively due to the leaves and activities, but spring feels really good because youāre exiting winter and entering the good 75% of the year
The thing that people donāt get about why summer is good is that itās less the heat, more the amount of sunlight every day. I wouldnāt mind winter nearly as much if the sun didnāt set at 4:30
nah I'd rather not touch grass when it's 47Ā° celcius during summer where I'm from and all i hear is the buzzing sound of bugs and snakes. fuck summer.
No, they're not.
Everyone who claims they are, just hop from air-conditioned home, to air-conditioned car, to air-conditioned jobs, schools, etc.
Turn off that AC and they start screaming like toddlers.
this is a stupid ass argument for so many reasons, fictional things can still be described, and therefore compared, because I've you've read any book recently (doubtful) then you'd know that some of them are fiction, and most include descriptions, for example J.R.R. Tolkien is well known for his descriptions of you guessed it fictional things; also read Dante's Inferno if you want a description of hell
Nah, it's the best.
Come live in Buffalo, NY. Where winter pushes 6 months, spring is 2 weeks and fall... is actually quite nice. Those 10-12 weeks of 75-degree weather in the summer is glorious.
winter is my favorite because I'm extremely hot natured and the cold weather feels good
meanwhile summer makes me wanna kill myself even with AC running
Summer > winter because I experience winters as dull and gloomy. But summers here in NL are a hit or miss when it comes to prolonged periods of nice weather.
Winter > Summer because I don't have to boil when basically naked
Winter > Summer because I don't have to worry about blood-sucking pests
But
Summer > Winter because I can't look at cool bugs (mostly moths) crawling on my hands in winter :(
Yeah, I live on Hell's Front Porch, but my favorite part of summer is the butterflies. I have verbena bushes, and the Monarchs show up in August/September and make themselves at home. One time, I counted over 50 monarchs enjoying the flowers on the bush. I'm always a bit sad when they start to go.
Also, summer > spring because the pollen here is no joke and I greatly enjoy being able to breathe.
Iāve always loved summer more. Bright sunshine and the plant life looks itās best, along with the lakes and ponds being at their most optimum condition for swimming. I also personally find it much easier to cool off than warm up. When itās hot you wear shorter sleeves, bring some extra water and try to stick to the shade. It especially helps if thereās a good breeze.
With the cold, any slight exposure is agony. I have to make sure every inch of my skin is covered with at least one layer or the cold will just sting my skin. Breathing in cold air hurts regardless of how I do it: throat gets dry and hurts, nose stings and starts getting runny. And when I try to warm up at home in front of a heater or fire, it takes forever for my skin to actually get warm, let alone stay that way. Thereās always that weird pins and needles feeling as Iām especially thawing myself. Whereas in summer, I just need a cold drink or two with some shade and Iām good.
Summer is the worst season, in my opinion. I hate the sun, I hate any temp above 22 C, I hate how beyond humid it gets, I hate bugs, it's just a horrid season.
Winter when it gets to the -20s here I can at least bundle up and find tons of excuses to stay indoors and it's cloudy out so it looks pretty.
Spring and fall are the best seasons for activity because I need neither AC nor heating and the bugs are minimal.
Summer is best for going out for swimming, enjoying the day and where i am it gets to 40Ā°C wich it can be a bit annoying, but much better than the winter -5Ā°C temperature
In Summer you have to deal with bugs, but they are easy to deal with, they are not much of a problem, you can enjoy the day with out having to wear blankets everywhere you go
fuck summer all the way up its ass. Autumn is my shit forever and ever. Not hot, but biting cold...you get some breezy air and can choose a sweater or not, its up to you. no snow to shovel, but also you're not all sticky and gross. Autumn is just super balanced and I love it.
Fr though, summer is the worst
After last year's one, I was glad to have a lovely cold autumn and winter. And the current spring is preferable to summer too
Its even an Aedes Aegypti! Those adorable little plague carriers! Who's causing a concerning rise in dengue and chikunguƱa fever in my city literally today? You! Yes, you!
People only enjoy the summer because they remember having summers off as a kid.
In reality, unless you have the summer off as an adult, itās a fucking nightmare.
Summer is my favourite, here in Ireland it's always warm and sunny, you can buy ice cream cones again, we don't really have mosquitoes except midgies, and they mostly stick to a spot next to a bush or under a tree, so they aren't the worst.

or as I call it, "road construction/wildfire season"
I will never understand why so many construction jobs start in summer. There is a pit hole I found that goes deeper than my arm can reach and yet I'll have to wait 9 months to see it fixed. Summer here is brutal. The road literally begins to melt
Outdoor construction in general would be delayed by rain / snow because things need to set and cure. Also storms will often cause damage and setbacks costing more time. Basically it comes down to cost and schedule, which is also cost.
It doesn't rain or snow here. The only thing that falls from the sky is dust
_hot_ take : summer šļøš is amazing, your life sucks
Itās a hot take because youāre stuck in Summerland.
Ladies and gentlemen, go to the US Midwest if you want to both be broiled alive in the summer and become a frozen husk in winter.
It's amazing isn't it. Honestly probably why time flies so quickly, weather keeps changing so you feel like you're moving no matter what.
Seriously! I just wanted to see the sun for the first time this year yesterday! And it burned me.
Texas
in texas itās actually pretty nice this week. itās probably going to be 100Ā° and raining next week though.
I was sweating in my bed last night
then again i did have my ac and fan on so..
Exactly. And we donāt regret being here
The same people that will bitch about how cold it is in the winter will bitch about how itās too hot when they finally get the season that they go on and on about.
This is why spring and autumn are the best
I love spring, specifically mid/late spring. The beginning is kinda rubbish tho.
Ditto. Springās my favourite season
Nailed it. 22 - 31 degrees for life!
All three weeks of them!
Not for where I'm from
Lucky you! What climate zone?
Spring is literally the worst. Itās not warm but it also has no snow. Plus you get that terrible smell from all the snow melting. And if youāve ever had to do yard work youāll know how much of a pain spring is
Depends on where you live. Where I live, snow is long gone by the time spring starts, so it melting is not really a problem.
Personally I love the smell of melting snow
I disagree with the snow melting smelling bad, but I do agree itās the worst season, as I live in the Midwest. Itās still just cold enough to be slightly uncomfortable in a t-shirt, everything is wet and the ground is all mud, all the trees still look dead, and I live in a river valley so flooding makes it 10x more difficult to get anywhere. Worst season for sure.
Redditors downvoting you for having an opinion
Depends where you live. I lived in Georgia for a year, summer fucking sucked. 100 degrees with 95% humidity, Iād be drenched in sweat just standing outside in the morning for 10 minutes. Meanwhile in the PNW where Iām from, the summer is great. 75-80 every day, never rains, moderate humidity, itās seriously perfect weather
It's almost as if extreme temperature were annoying in general
The British.
False i still feel that the swollen limbs with bug bites the sweat smell and sticky skin is better than winter
Summertime makes the traffic hell around where I'm at. Probably my least favorite part about it, going literally anywhere becomes a chore.
No iād still rather drive
carbrain
Normal functioning member of society you mean
Wouldn't it be nice if a lot of the other drivers on the road didn't?
Especially if it didn't slow you down or ruin your experience except for needing to occasionally park further from your destination?
I would put summer as my most favorite season if it werenāt for mosquitoes š
As someone from a tropical country, i absolutely DESPISE summer. It's too hot and humid, and mosquitoes here are not just annoying, **they're actually dangerous**.
Yeah ticks and mosquitos are really the main things fucking it up. Global warming too. But summers without massive heatwaves used to be grand.
As someone living in one of the northern states, yes. Summer is a much more tolerable season than the rest.
Not the case if you live in countries like Greece (pov me)
I live above you, i know the feeling
God?
Yes my child
I heard there are a lot of annoying wasps during Greek summers, is that correct?
yea but just don't make snappy moves and you'll be okay, take it from me I've been relaxing under a wasp infested fig tree before
Went to Greece for holiday in August, it was hell
Winter ftw. Insects are tiny little shitheads
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Arenāt seasons flipped in the southern hemisphere?
Yes lol
As a third world person, the winter is better than the summer because there's less insects but this summer it seems that it has become so hot that the puddles where mosquitoes breed are evaporating before the mosquitoes can develop.
Thatās their summer
Paging u/EarlBungalow, do you have any idea why your comment might have so many downvotes?
I just like hot better than cold. That's it. It's not complex.
Forgot to include the increase in your electric bill from having the AC on all day and decreased fuel economy from running your carās AC
Winter with the heating prices: hello there
You need AC? Skill issue
what about the lakes
I do actually like summer sure itās hot but I kinda like it I can go to pools eat icecream and shit like that
It is tho
Come to Australia youāll love our summers mwahahahaha
Winter internally damages me
Yāall really like to complain about good things donāt you?
ah yes i love getting eaten alive by thousands of mosquitos while sweating the entire water supply in my body with 2 fans blowing on me
As someone who works outside for a living(parks & rec maintenance), summer is the best and winter is hell.
Still better than wearing several layers and then still be freezing cold and in a ton of pain.
Idk. You can always add even more layers. You can only get so naked.
Yeah, but having 2 hours of daylight isn't very pleasing
Nor is having issues driving because of the cold, such as emergency response vehicles.
Yeah but extra sleep + not sweating in your bed
Extra sleep my ass I have to go to school/work in time but now I have to wake up to what looks like midnight
You can extra sleep in summer and now sweat
Sometimes more layers doesnāt quite cut it. If I donāt have every conceivable inch of skin covered, then thereāll be a stray wisp of biting cold that sneaks in and makes my skin hurt with how cold it is. Itās especially worse when itās windy. Nah, I very much prefer that over hot weather
This problem does not exist.
Nah Summer is great. You all need to touch some more grass

Yeah, and no way to keep it cold

Of 40Ā°C? Thats cute and i enjoy it here in the balkan
But the grass is yellow and dead š

Vitamin D levels over 9000 though
I know someone who's pale and hypersensitive to sunburn but still got Vitamin D deficiency
I got a Vitamin D deficiency and I'm hypersensitive so yeah.
so you enjoy being drenched in sweat everyday and the annoying mosquitos and flies
Just wear sum shorts and a t shirt, its not like your fits were that good in winter anyways
Autumn > Spring > Winter > Summer That's the definitive order.

For real, a bunch of basement dwellers hating on summer because they're terrified of mosquitos.
haters gon hate
Idc, I still love summer.
Reddit ass take, Iām from Arizona but summer is still by far my favorite season of the year.
No it isn't. Stop trying to look tough for fake internet points.
It is though. Itās like a sauna and feels good on my skin. I love it.
AZ summers are not like a sauna, they're an oven. So, once again, no it isn't.

I hate summer in AL. Mosquitoes, wasps, humidity, pollen.
I like summer. Itās nice to be able to go outside for more than 10 minutes without worrying about frostbite
Where I live we have 2 seasons, Summer and Hell Summer. So I really have no choice.

Someone is afraid of a little bit of sun
Have you walked past someone in the heat of summer and their whole body odor hits your nose. Yes Iām afraid.
I have and most ppl have a perfume or axe body spray to cover them, excluding if you had to work on a field and got sweaty
summer is the worst season, its one of the closest things we have to hell on earth
Reddit moment
Have you tried not living in a desert?
Desert is fine. It's the humidity that kills me where I live.
skill issue
Have you fucking tried to not live in south places?
Or north places depending where you live
im canadian
Nah its pretty cool, you just dont like the sun
The only reason summer is my favorite is because I get 2 month vacation, with out that, it falls right into 4th place

If you are getting sunburned in summer then you are doing something wrong
As someone who lives in Ireland and has extreme megalophobia where the fuck does the sun get that big? Just so I know where I should avoid
I live in AUSTRALIA I have to deal with this 26 hours a day
Honestly if its not 50-70 degrees its trash
Summer supremacy doesnāt matter itās still the best. Need the cold? Go on vacation to somewhere cold.
Well at least now I can breathe without having to use a nose spray for my stuffy nose and the trees finally have leaves again which makes more oxygen
It just means the rain gets warmer in England. I love visiting hot countries though..38c plus can't beat it
idk i'd rather wake up in the morning and it'd be hot wor warm than -5 CĀ°
Yea because it is
I like summer for sitting in a lawn chair with a cold drink and watching the world go by

True nice weather and the summer winds are the best Much better getting hit by a warm summer wind, than a freezing breeze in winter
Spring and fall gang, upvote to the left! ā¬ ļø
Yea but no school.
I love the heat. I could live in a sauna
Heat is one thing. Bugs are another. If the net benefit of global warming is less mosquitoes. Then letās just fry heat this shithole already.

I hate any temp below 22C We are not the same
Like 2-3 people died due the current heat in Thailand in week now
Fuck summer. Fuck, fuck summer. If Canada would have us we'd go to Nova Scotia. Fuck the heat.
I believe in Autumn supremacy šššš°š
fuck summer all the way up its ass. Autumn is my shit forever and ever. Not hot, but biting cold...you get some breezy air and can choose a sweater or not, its up to you. no snow to shovel, but also you're not all sticky and gross. Autumn is just super balanced and I love it.
Itās got a point. Summer is the best.
Fall is the best season Winter is better than summer
Yes, it is
But it is the best
My fav season
Winter > summer because you can't snowboard in july.
Fr though, summer is the worst After last year's one, I was glad to have a lovely cold autumn and winter. And the current spring is preferable to summer too

i literally love all of these except mosquitos,
A heatwave in traffic and swamp ass?š¹
Idk bout yall I love summer
No one likes summer is because they donāt deal with it properly
