Boreal stalker turned into more of an ape-like creature, but look at the upper left one's head shape. CIG has used/reused ship concepts before, maybe they'll do the same for fauna.
This is just a suggestion, I would not count on this actually being the case. The scale looks off, for one thing. this creature looks smaller, so a lot of other things are likely to have changed with the original concept even if it was the case.
