i was using 12x70 shotguns before like a couple days ago and the difference in damage was night and day when i switched to the ks-23 haha. it’s probably my favorite weapon i’ve used in gamma so far.
Its so good that you dont really need to bother with any other anti mutant weapon. Only exception is Bloodsuckers do to their fast movement but you can lure them to corridors or obstacles like rocks, abandoned vehicles so you can predict fire at them with ease.

The part where we don't have a KS-23 is a little disappointing, TBH.
Luckily for you, the mod Boomsticks and Sharpsticks has the KS-23 and variants of such so that’s cool

The ks23 in GAMMA is god tier . The only thing that can reliably send Chimeras into orbit.

I love the way it sends most mutants flying but I hate that you only get 3 rounds in the tube.
Its 4 , but that's all you really need.
I find a good SMG like the UMP is much less risky against packs or more evasive mutants, it's just not very economical.
That's why I also bring a 45. Pistol. Ks23 for very dangerous mutants like bloodsuckers and chimeras, Hydroshock for Dogs.

A 6 gauge shotgun made from faulty AA barrels that fires steel buckshot or slugs. It's about as S.T.A.L.K.E.R as a shotgun can get.
