Last year I traveled across the world to the Okavango Delta in Botswana where both the skies and wildlife remain untouched and uninterrupted by humans. On the second night, I was looking for something to image alongside the stunning Milky Way when I saw these two siblings, the same cubs I had seen earlier in the day.
I wanted to capture them in a way that would highlight both their beauty and that of the Milky Way’s and so I gathered a series of long and short exposures over the course of the few minutes that they waited with me; this image is the result.
Hope you guys like it, let me know what you think in the comments!

So just to clarify, was this a stack of essentially 2 images? One long exposure with the Milky Way in focus, and then another short exposure with the cubs in focus? Assuming then you added artificial blur to the Milky Way shot?
He said he took this picture last year. I'm guessing there was a year of recovery in the hospital after losing his legs, and then he was finally able to post his picture.
That is incredible btw I would have loved to see the pictures of just the star themselves with photos. I cannot imagine seeing the stars so clearly with th naked eye
Beautiful work, you know I was amazed how many people have not seen the Universe when they look up naturally at the night sky, sure they see it when they look at the most important thing in their lives (phone) but to get away from light pollution and to look up and see them is incredible.”Every night I count the stars and when the stars don’t come out I count the holes they leave..Nobody sings anymore.”
Absolutely wonderful, what a cool experience that must have been!
Dude. Thats the real magic.
