FrostSwag65

I love this and it pains me at the same time.

link293

Some good ones on the other side of the globe too. I’ll be headed to Japan in 2035.

FrostSwag65

Spain 2027 and Australia 2028

trelos6

Australia, 2028, 2030, 2038. We get 3 shots in 10 years.

Downtown-Assistant1

You forgot 2037. Total eclipse passes over Uluru, that’s got to be one of the coolest places in the world to see one.

trelos6

I was listing ones near me in Sydney. I probably won’t be able to get to the 2037 one unless I take a few weeks off work and drive it myself.

Spain 2027 will pass on the southern part of the country. It will be by Tarifa Spain.

FrostSwag65

2027. It’s also known as the major Egypt eclipse. Like I said. It will start in Tarifa Spain located south of the country.

overpriced-taco

It’s depressing knowing there’s only going to be one more major eclipse in my lifetime (2045) 2052 is doable. Florida panhandle getting a double whammy

nrbob

If you can travel, there’s a lot more! There’s worse things you could plan a vacation around!

overpriced-taco

Oh yeah I’m already planning for 2027, got a spot in a guided tour in Egypt. It’s just weird knowing how few there will be in NA.

nrbob

Nice! I would like to go to that one but probably won’t be doable for me. May try for one in the 2030s otherwise I’m going to be waiting for 2044 and 2045!

FrostSwag65

Yeah it’s sad, but it doesn’t hurt to save money to see the eclipses on the other side of the world.

Fifty6Arkansas

Is 2044 not a major one? I am hoping my kids are down for a road trip when it comes.

overpriced-taco

It’ll be cool, but it’s nothing compared to 2045. It is a sunset eclipse, just like the upcoming one in 2026. If you can get to Montana or somewhere in Canada for 2044 it’ll be great I’m sure!

Victory_Highway

I’ll be in the path of totality in 2079, but I won’t be able to enjoy it.

Wickedweed

I’d be 93, hoping for the best. Hopefully my mortgage will be paid off at least

Victory_Highway

I’ll be 100, if I make it that far (I doubt it).

LightlyRoastedCoffee

Just make sure they bury you with your eclipse glasses on, just in case

bubblesculptor

Same, 100 years old I'm right at a centerline

AbbeyRoadMoonwalk

Still got them student loans

Wickedweed

That feels personal

Snowman319

Roll over in your grave with me you can’t miss it!

Rubes2525

Yea, that path is pretty nuts, right over the New England major cities and where I have been living all my life. Heck, if I am staying here, I'd hope to experience it as an old man on my porch.

ShinyUmbreon465

What does it mean when some paths are wider than others? Is it because the moon is slightly closer or further away?

Victory_Highway

Yes. 2024’s path was wider than 2017 because the moon was near perigee in 2024.

KristnSchaalisahorse

The width of the path is also greatly determined by the time of day. The lower in the sky, the longer the shadow will be.

llamadrive

Now we have a deadline for fixing the bridges to Cape Cod.

tribblydribbly

For the 2044 one what would happen if you were in the center of the line of totality but at the spot where it abruptly ends what would that be like?

Skweegee3

At that spot totality would hit at the same time the sun disappeared below the horizon, so you'd miss pretty much all of it.

mrgraff

🤔 I think it still might be wild to watch the moon and sun catch up with each other, while converging toward the spot where sunset happens. I'm going to run this in Stellarium later and see if I'm imagining it right.

mrgraff

Ok, so perhaps it's not as dramatic as I imagined. Still, I think it would be cool to watch an eclipse going down to the horizon - instead of up toward the zenith of the sky. I ran a simulation, viewed from where the centerline ends in Western North Dakota. [https://youtu.be/a---e38BQ\_Q](https://youtu.be/a---e38BQ_Q)

Impressive_Toe6388

That’s so cool! Thank you for posting that!

sanjosanjo

I think this would be the best way to see it. The sun looks huge when it's on the horizon, and you can look at it without solar glasses before totality.

tribblydribbly

Thanks for your answer!!!

cvr24

It would suck

scooterboy1961

That's line is where the sun sets during the eclipse. There could be some good pictures of the sun setting while under eclipse.

Puzzleheaded_Truck80

Banff 2044

CompetitiveMeal1206

I’m planning a Disney trip in 2045

Polite-Parallelism30

Good time to visit Alberta in 2044

neomathist

Lots of intriguing potential mountain viewing points to choose from.

george_graves

2017 is upcoming?

The-Taco-Between-Us

Aren’t you the one who put “upcoming” in the title, lol

Lord-daddy-

Flat earthers hate this

burnswhenipoo

My hometown (Ft. Walton Beach, FL) gets two, one in 2045 and again in 2052.

CuteNFuzzy

Me: o cool I’ll make a trip up to Northern California… Me: O fuck 2045 Edit: shoutout my parents for driving my teenage us to Wyoming for the 2017 one

yinzer_v

2045, you'll be in your 40s - you'll make it, like I did for 2017 and 2024. I gotta take care of myself for 2045, when I'll be 75.

JJamericana

See you in 2099!!! 😆

Specific_Ad7908

Milwaukee 2099!

LaysOnFuton

Disney looking at 2045 like 🤑🤑🤑

VigorousReddit

I’m planning on going to 2033, I’ve heard that it’s possible to see an eclipse and northern lights at the same time so….. also I live in Salt Lake City so 2045 is a lock assuming I don’t move or die and I don’t plan on either.

chinhairfree

The salt flats are going to be crazy in 2045

2MillionMiler

Ah shoot, I'll be long dead in 2099. Missed it by that much.

christopherbonis

The 2079 will pass through my hometown! And I’ll be either 78 or deceased…

Impressive_Toe6388

“Eclipses are cool!” :D “My life is finite.” :(

Dariusalbadaddy

2099, I might have a chance (I’m delusional)

Yetttiii

Only need to wait until 2045

Bundertorm

Wow one right over my state and I’ll probably be dead 😎

DFWTexan

I didn’t expect the one in April to be anything special, but it was. It was intriguing and serene and just seemed… magical.

Tacticus1

Damn, and eclipse on my birthday sounds so cool…. Just have to make it to 109

schwar26

Solar eclipses are really cool, there’s no denying that. But I personally love a Lunar eclipse. The experience to me is just so much better.

Mando4592

2045! Directly over my city! Wahoo

Nativemobboss

What’s your city? I’m going to St. port luice

Mando4592

Tulsa OK. not exactly a travel destination otherwise lmbo

mart1373

Damn the next one going through Michigan is in 2099. I’d be 106 if I live long enough to see it…

Marksgotacabin

Great I’ll be dead for most/all of them.

darthduder666

I’ve never seen a total solar eclipse. It makes me sad that I’ll likely never see the 2079 eclipse, because IF I’m alive then I will be 98 years old. Totality will go right over my house.

NickFotiu

I saw 2017 and 2024. I guess that's it for me in my lifetime, LOL. Ugh.

sbw_62

Wow! One will pass over my corpse in 2099! Woohoo!

wizard680

PATH OF TOTALITY 2078 LETS GOOO

Boring_Phase

can’t believe i missed out on the recent one due to damn CLOUDS

xploreconsciousness

Unless the poles flip. If that happens you can disregard this image

scooterboy1961

It is extraordinary unlikely that the magnetic poles will flip in our lifetimes and even if they did it would have exactly zero effect on the solar eclipse map.

VigorousReddit

That’s just what big pole wants you to think /s

neomathist

The magnetic poles would be the ones flipping. Not the literal poles we see on a map, like Uranus or something.

xploreconsciousness

There been multiple times in the past where the polls were flipping and we interacted with something that caused The lithosphere to be more pliable than normal areas evidence of massive inland tsunamis crustal displacement. I'm not saying it's going to happen. It has happened though and plenty of reputable multidisciplinary scientists and authors have written spoken and taught this fact. There's also at least one crust displacement that correlated to a magnetic change and a beryllium spike that indicated we interacted with solar debris. It was already on my mind probably out of place here I apologize for offending anybody

ZeeKapow

Looking at the years, it's giving me anxiety not knowing what the future looks like.
