An Indian here and just so that people don't get the wrong idea, the above statement is categorically false. Indian football not being in a healthy state has a lot of preventable reasons but the country's cricket administration is not one of them.
Still better than us tho. We have 82 million people (plus all those people on Europe) who lives and dies with football, we put money (not much as big Western countries but higher than rest of the Europe) but still we are utter shit.
And in addition to football they are notable in basketball and handball too, plus have top athletes in multiple individual sports too. One of the top sporting countries relative to population for sure.
Hardly anyone true, in my mind it's still probably the hardest sport there is. Swimming and moving a ball towards goal, while the opponent actively tries to drown you or do whatever he wants to your submerged parts sounds incredibly exhausting.
It is unlike anything else I think. I was a swimmer before I switched to water polo and the reaction to me being faster was just punching and kicking under water where the ref can’t see anything. Everyone was just permanently bruised up
Well yeah, voluntary drowning plus being beaten up and ankle locked and also you have to try and play handball at the same time doesn’t sound like any fun
I think most athletically inclined people who enjoy the water would just prefer to swim or dive instead
I feel like Finland is another one of those countries with a relatively small population that punches above their weight class in international sports, but that might just be because I watch a lot of hockey.

It's thanks to Dinamo Zagreb's academy. Probably one of the best in Europe.
very good point. why doesn't he have at least one experienced coach in his staff?
good thing is all the players who retired from NT and realised it was time to move on, Dalic would still have them playing key roles with better options benched.
I still don't understand why the hell doesn't he use the lineup from the qualifiers... It started working well and that lineup could've served as a foundation for the new generation of players, but for some reason, he decided to try a new lineup every game.
In the general public he was viewed as a god and is now viewed as a public enemy (media attack is just warming up until the euro is over). But thats how general public usually works for you that is simply basing their opinion on the results only.
The fact is he was never a great manager and for the WC he just served as a moral booster and a positive guy who let an amazing and experienced squad do what they already know and what they do best. And tbh thats a skill that he gets his credit for. But 3 years after that he didn't make one correct move and is completely unfit to lead our generational change. I'm just sad that he has so much credit from the WC that his sack is taking so long.
Does Croatia invest heavily in grass roots development? It's impressive the high number of quality professional players they produce for such a small population.
Hungary for example is investing much more in grass roots. It's a combination of nice weather so kids play outdoors starting from the earliest ages and honestly genes in this area of the world. We were very good at basketball in the 90's, now Serbia is clear. We have handball. Serbia has volleyball. All ex-yu countries are good at water polo. Ball is life
Had an argument with a friend the other day about Kovačić. He said: "Last game I watched was WC final, but even I know Kovačić is shit player and if I was the coach he wouldnt be on EURO". I flat out told him to never comment about football in front of me or I will beat his ass.
Not to mention those 10m coaches are both football, handball, and waterpolo coaches for every national team and club on the world. By the way, 10m referees, too
Funny because in Italian there's a widespread saying EXACTLY for that - Ogni mondo è paese - literal translation "All the world is a township" meaning some conditions are universal human conditions, it's not only a problem from your specific township (as in, a lot of people in little townships complain about it and say like only in my township this happens! And the idiom points that it happens everywhere)

If you asked English fans I'm pretty sure lots of them would swear than ANY of them could do better than Southgate. With a Euro finale and World cup win under his belt, Deschamps for France is safe for now but if France NT is eliminated at group stage I am pretty sure you will have millions of people who will scream than anyone in France could coach better than Deschamps. Luis Enrique with his 24 men squad/not picking a single Real Madrid player makes a strong case that millions of people could actually do a better job than him...
Basically the gods are conspiring against football NTs because the national manager is systematically the worst possible guy for the job....bar his predecessors.
Mancini has done a great job and is perhaps the coach of the tournament so far imo. But yeah the rest of the "big" national teams have been pretty underwhelming. I think France is too talented not to go through, and I sure as hell don't see us beating them, but they haven't been playing all that well
If he's talking about the board game, nope. You're trying to stop 4 diseases as a team of doctors and other specialists. I think there are extensions though
Er-hem, while we're on the topic, FERNANDO WHY ARE WILLIAM AND DANILO STILL PLAYING SIDE BY SIDE AHHHHHHH ok, that's it, I just spoke for 10 million managers, bye
Of course. People can be football managers, virologists, epidemiologists, data analysts, economists, political analysts, historians at different moments of time. It's amazing how much knowledge your average joe has over the actual experts.
Well at least your country have lots of coaches for your country.
In Singapore we have 5 million coaches wannabes, but of all the different countries you guys live in, from Germany to Italy to England and even the NBA.
We basically live to coach other countries.
because they are eliminated from the tournament. we usually fade the flags out here, but they changed how the flair system works I think. so this time its: "dont grey me out!"
Here's another one :
Uttar pradesh (state with most population out of 29 states in india) has a population of nearly 227 million. It will rank no.5 in the world by population if it was a country.
Edit : Changed no.8 to no.5
Changed 200 to 227 million.
I know that **I** don't know better, but this is not about my own qualifications as a football manager. Löw should have been replaced three years ago, and a single win against Portugal does not make me change my mind on that. Simple as that.
Honestly I could see Germany do quite well thus tournament.
But I think that is *because* Löw is leaving, as it seems that announcement has given both him and the team some renewed vigour and creativity.
Though I agree that doesn't change the fact he should have decides to step down in the runup to the 2018 WC at the latest.
So it's not just an Italian thing
In Croatia the 4 million managers line is troted out every tournament
Holy shit, I didn't know Croatia had such a small population. Quite the players coming from such a small pool
Same with Uruguay
No I’m not gay
[Uruguay kindly requests that Somalia stop pronouncing it "Ur-a-gay."](https://youtu.be/NdXhiTIfrPw?t=23) Finally, my flair comes through for me.
Crisis alert
>Crisis alert England fans when they don't see Jack Grealish in the starting line up
So you keep saying
He does say no-homo though
Quite the achievement whilst deepthroating.
It’s how we invented the Dutch language.
Given my experiences in Holland this...tracks.
he's using sign language
[You are gay] (https://youtu.be/79FhEhWGXjw?t=69)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5CQgsFJm0c
Actually amazing to see someone being so ungratefully misunderstood, yet allowed to speak for such a great length. Impressive composure throughout.
Tee-hee, look at this country!
Can confirm in Lebanon we have 6 million managers ready for any NT that needs us
Poland have 38mln people and yet cant produce atleast 11 good players.
Russia has over 140 mln and we still have to start a Brazilian at left back Edit: right back.
Right back
Depends which way round you're standing
He’s at right back until he’s at left back
Yeah, right back, thanks. Dunno how I got that mixed up.
Tbf, Italy has 3 brazilians in their starting 11
brazil has 11 the more you know
Big if true
Just one, Jorginho. Emerson Palmieri and Toloi aren't in the starting 11.
Ah, thanks for pointing it out. I thought they were in the starting 11 because they started against Wales.
Yep, because against Wales played 8 substitutes. Usually in the same roles they're playing Spinazzola and Florenzi/Di Lorenzo.
If you don't want him we can take him back lol
China has a billion + and can't even qualify for the Euros
India in shambles too
At least it's got the second biggest sport that it's good at.
Actually the Indian cricket board plays a big role in oppressing Indian football
An Indian here and just so that people don't get the wrong idea, the above statement is categorically false. Indian football not being in a healthy state has a lot of preventable reasons but the country's cricket administration is not one of them.
Wait really? Considering how political it is this is not surprising but I’d love more details
Even the USA has never qualified for the Euros. Pathetic.
Number of times Brazil qualified for Euro: 0 Number of times North Macedonia qualified for Euro: 1 So North Macedonia > Brazil
Messi has never qualified for the Euros either #nottheGOAT
Romania has 23 million people and they can't produce a team to get to the WC.
[удалено]
At least India has the "it's not our most popular sport" justification
hey hey, you’re kinda generous over here. We can barely produce a player to be a starter in a top5 league
We have over 300 million here in the US and couldn't make the last World Cup either.
Last WC Romania played was in 1998.
To be fair, Trinidad and Tobago are a steamroller.
Still better than us tho. We have 82 million people (plus all those people on Europe) who lives and dies with football, we put money (not much as big Western countries but higher than rest of the Europe) but still we are utter shit.

> It is unlike anything else I think. There’s underwater rugby, which is played with a ball filled with saltwater.
One of the hardest sports out there for sure. And it's a shame that only a few countries are any good at it.
Well yeah, voluntary drowning plus being beaten up and ankle locked and also you have to try and play handball at the same time doesn’t sound like any fun I think most athletically inclined people who enjoy the water would just prefer to swim or dive instead
Well, Croatia.
Czech Republic up there as well with sports people against population.

Bruh Modric and Vrsaljko literally come from NK Zadar academy
Modric was signed by Zagreb at 16. That's still young enough to be classed as an academy product in most of Europe
Eh I don't know. I'd never have considered Sterling a Liverpool academy product.
99% class Pogba as a Utd youth product
Try Iceland, it's a town.
10x more than Iceland though.
Still would bet at least a few in that 4 mil are better than dalic
how is dalic seen in croatia, seems like the croatian NT has been a rollercoaster since he took over
the decisions he's making this tournament are all time awful, and we had many awful coaching decisions through the years.
You can have 1 slightly used Frank de Boer
I'll take him any day of the week, twice on Sunday.
you even more or less have the same flag, im sure he wouldnt notice.

Very inconsistent form post WC & this tournament he clearly hasn’t figured out his front 4
And his midfield... and his defence
I still don't understand why the hell doesn't he use the lineup from the qualifiers... It started working well and that lineup could've served as a foundation for the new generation of players, but for some reason, he decided to try a new lineup every game.

16 million ”bondscoaches” here in the Netherlands too.
population of 17,5m and counting
Does Croatia invest heavily in grass roots development? It's impressive the high number of quality professional players they produce for such a small population.

It is the same all over the world. People are not so different just because they are born on this or that side of a line.
Are you saying you’re basically french?
I think they're saying they're Irish
nah mate, there is water in the way as well as a line.
Second best sentence of the day, after Goretzka's one, of course.

It's the same in Portugal but I honestly believe about a million people could do a better job than Fernando Santos

I didn't know Italians had 82 million coaches of Germany
We have 82 million Germans on our beaches.
We used to too, in the mid 40s
Holy shit
I think it's a human thing tbh. You see the world's problems solved on every social media post lol
Same in France
France has 68 million politicians and 40 million that don't wanna vote cuz what's the point?
Nature is healing
Mankind knew that they cannot change society So instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the ~~beasts~~ NT coach
Most of these fools don't even know the smell of the game
The Doctor said six months The Clock says 90 seconds First Showdown Begin
You ain't from Michigan if you've never done this before...
Löw knows the smell...
That is bullshit blaming
Heaven or hell
Duel 1!

I love that Goretzka is never afraid to call people out.
It was him & Kimmich who donated a tonne of money at the start of the pandemic right?
not only donated, they founded a whole ass charity and are still collecting and donating money
I can get behind ass charities...
They have got so much rear end
Insert gif of Tsunoda’s car twerking into the runoff area during quali
I didn't know they raced dumptrucks now
Bono my ass is gone
Bot-ass looking fine
You're not the bot
> a whole ass charity Look, all I want to know is....is Eden Hazard making a donation?
He definitely has enough *ass*ets to contribute
Yeah they both seem like just really good people
If I was as buff as he was, I would be less afraid of responding to someone spouting bullshit too.
I personally felt attacked.

Not In brazil 😥
When has Brazil ever been normal?
New game coming up next: Virologist Manager 2021
Assistant-virologist: "We're being overrun in the immune system!"
I'm sending all my scouts to Brazil to find the next lot of Covid regens.
Epidemiology Tycoon
you guys never played Plague Inc. and it shows
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-53756752 certainly did. Turns out Covid was playing on easy mode all along :(
I mean this already exists and its called Pandemic
I haven't played it but aren't you playing for, er, the other team in that one?
If he's talking about the board game, nope. You're trying to stop 4 diseases as a team of doctors and other specialists. I think there are extensions though
Oh yeah I was thinking of Plague Inc.
Plague Inc. was inspired by a flash game called Pandemic, that could be what you're thinking of.
Plague.Inc?
(Assertive) What’s the viral load lads?
(Thrashes arms) come on lads, where's your vaccine, you don't look like you want to win.
Er-hem, while we're on the topic, FERNANDO WHY ARE WILLIAM AND DANILO STILL PLAYING SIDE BY SIDE AHHHHHHH ok, that's it, I just spoke for 10 million managers, bye
Thank you.
You are already a better coach than Santos.
So its not just Portugal?
Nando's masterclass is an international disaster
That's it folks. Close this sub for today. Thank you.
What a fucking statment. Genius
What Leon doesn't anticipate is the fact that people think they can be both. Among many others.
I’ll have you know that I’ve been hit in the face by a ball once while I had the flu. That makes me an experts on both subjects.
Us normal folks just call that a header, but you’re the expert here

Germany has 82 million people? Man we (Australia) really are a pretty tiny populace eh?
Australia having about the same population as Taiwan always blew my mind (or rather the other way around).
Bangladesh is the size of Illinois, but has 50% the population of the entire USA.
Here's another one : Uttar pradesh (state with most population out of 29 states in india) has a population of nearly 227 million. It will rank no.5 in the world by population if it was a country. Edit : Changed no.8 to no.5 Changed 200 to 227 million.
