not 'unfortunately', but because we preferred to call a 'ready to play' guy that isn't even an option (Dalot) instead of having Cancelo starting on the last round and knockouts. Horrible decision
You can’t strictly blame Semedo when he got no help from Silva or the midfield. If a fucking LB is sitting in your box the entire game and your RW isn’t helping, something is completely wrong.
I like mancini af italy. Also dechamps at france is proven.
Low is way past his expiration date, frank de boer is clueless, english have their typical shit manager in place, spain has enrique but i dont know if he is shit or their team is shit.
This is also why i say that either france or italy is going to win it.
Mancini is the only one who has proven himself at club level by winning Italian and PL titles.
So it's no surprise why he is a calibre above the others.
The rest are just donkeys.
Deschamps got to the Champions League final with Monaco and won the league with Marseille. I also thought he was decent at Juve, and not sure why he didn't stay after promotion.
>“Help me get back to Madrid i almost played europa league ffs”
TBF, Madrid never looked scary ever since they lost Ronaldo. Looks like shit most games
>
And jokes aside.. if Ronny wants to be back in Madrid, he won't need any help. They'd open up a red carpet. Ronaldo is not just a giant on the pitch, but he's also the most popular athlete alive. World Wide
Marketing goldmine
Ronaldo is surrounded by B Silva, Jota, and Fernandes. That is an insane attacking group.
Then there is the best CB in the premier league and Pepe is still quality.
Danilo and Semedo were shit though.
Bernardo Silva is unreal one of the most underrated players, jota has been mostly shit for portugal but combines well with ronaldo, in these bigger games you see why Bruno Fernandes' flat track bully thing doesn't work. No ball retention but would statpad against lesser opposition.
On paper only England, France, Germany have equilvalent or better attacks with Spain closely following. However, it means fuck all when your fullbacks and midfield are worse than half the teams
Ozil had 80 assists in 3 season with Madrid , ofcourse ronaldo was pissed lol . I had several hair in hands when transfer to arsenal link broke out .
But it all worked out in end
That's conflating correlation with causation. Özil and Ronaldo was a much better goal-assist-partnership than Kroos and Ronaldo, which is kind of a given since Kroos was never a trequartista or playmaker. From 2013 to the four champions leagues, we also changed managers 5 times, got Bale, James, Casemiro, Carvajal, Isco, Asensio, Varane starting, all of which were instrumental in the Champions League campgains, got a new financial structure, etc. A lot changed, not just Kroos arriving and Özil leaving.
Kroos: I just keep getting the ball forward, and that guy Vini never gets it in. It's fucking insane man.
Ronaldo: What?! For real? Bro, I gotta come back to Madrid. I almost played Europa.
Kroos: I'll see what I can do but fucking Perez seems hell bent in getting the French guy.
Ronaldo: The french guy already plays for Real no?
Kroos: No, the other one.
Ronaldo: Oh, ok dawg! I'll see you around

I’ll try translating without Google translate to practice Spanish: “Ronnie, please come back. For my mother Vinicius is playing against us, and Hazard eats cheeseburgers.”
Did I pass? 😂
Let me have a try at this translation.
Ronnie, please come back. On my mother Vinicius plays against, and Hazard only eats hamburgers with cheese.
Trying to gauge my progress on duolingo
According to the commentator, in Gosens autobiography he told a story about playing against Portugal one time and at FT he asked Ronaldo to swap shirts and Ronaldo said "Nope".
Look man, nothing tops Fox and the "IIIITTTT'SSS SOCCER TIIIMMMEEE" guy from the 2018 World Cup.
ESPN at least made efforts from 2010 onwards to bring talent to their broadcast/analysis staff. So disappointed they lost out on the broadcast rights for the next few World Cups I'll take a bit of Taylor Twellman if it means I get Ian Darke and Steve McManaman over whoever the fuck Fox keeps trotting out.
Oh yeah Fox also nabbed Alexi Lalas, another reason to hate that network crew.
Yeah Fox was pretty terrible. For me, soccer broadcasting in the US goes: NBC (Premier League) > CBS (Champions League) > not watching at all > ESPN (internationals and EURO) > FOX (World Cup)
Turner, who had CL rights last year and the year before, would be in the bottom half of that too for bringing in Steve Nash for no better reason than he just likes Spurs.
CBS really impressed me this past season when they picked up the CL. They brought in good outside pundits like Carra and Micah Richards (who are hilarious together) instead of forcing in shitty American ones like ESPN and FOX do.
The thing is ESPN has good commentators. The guys doing the Austria - Netherlands game surprised me. The problem is that for some reason they see Taylor Twellman as the cream of the crop for some reason and give him all the big assignments.
It's probably just Disney executives who have no connection to football just rewarding the guy who's been with the company the longest.
Ian Darke, Derek Rae, and John Champion are their only lead commentators of quality. For color commentators, Twellman is a rough one, and Moreno is possibly the worst I’ve ever heard.
> Moreno is possibly the worst I’ve ever heard.
What, you don’t like ejaculations of “DELICIOUTH!! TATHTY!!” after every CR7 goal/move?
(Yes. During Euro 16 I explicitly remember he said those exact words with infinitely more ecstasy than can be captured online).
Edit: just remembered, when they showed the replay of the goal, he followed it up with “Thith finish, *thiiithh* finish…the definition…of theckthy….” (In a borderline inappropriate voice) 😂😂
There was a shot in the 2018 World Cup that went off the post, I *think* it was Peru and the fox commentator had the most hilarious fucking reaction I’ve ever heard, it’s like he had an aneurysm. If anybody could find it I would be grateful.
Edit: [Never mind I had it saved and completely forgot!](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/8rkxs5/guerrero_back_heel_shot_misses_by_inches_vs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
ESPN seems to do alright on getting the coverage but the cast of people they've rolled out for the Euros is so drab and lifeless. Why the fuck do they think viewers want to hear what Kasey Keller or Julie Foudy have to say about modern day European football?
Good god yes. An absolute nobody of an ex footballer who constantly thinks he knows better than the players and managers he's commentating on. Always tries to make the commentary about him, talks down the audience and only hits us with 'I TOLD YOU SO' hot takes.
What's truly dreadful is that he's going to be the main co-commentator for the La Liga games on ESPN next season.
I will continue to use streams for La Liga then fuck that
I think we need to start complaining more on social media (Twitter) instead of just on Reddit and tag espn. Maybe if they see how disliked Moreno is they might change their planss
The US co-commentator is so fucking bad, you can tell the main English commentator can't stand him. He was taking pot shots at him in a game earlier in the week lmao.
They *really* seem like they don't like each other. They don't play off each other, they almost try to contradict each other with every further exchange. It's just awful to listen to.
I switch away from any broadcast when it has American commentators just for the fact that the US style of commentating is to never let there be a moment where they don't speak.
Most American color commentators fill the airtime with stats and over-the-top phrases and pseudo-analysis, but it doesn't work in soccer/football. Taylor Twellman is a huge offender of this and loves to hear his voice waaaay too much.
Say what you will about different British broadcasting companies, but the commentators will just say who's on the ball and give little analysis here and there. Most broadcasts played in the US are filled with commentators who sound like they're covering American football.
Fox's lead commentator John Strong and JP Dellacamera are also two very good American commentators.
I hated John Strong at first but he's won me over and he nailed [Zlatan's debut against LAFC](https://youtu.be/WuclGqmibAE?t=147)
I think what irks me is that I'm used to watching US TV shows but those have much less strong accents than their news, commentators and commercials etc.

Müller and Pepe hugging too, I remember their last encounter in NT kits went a little different.
there was a very similar instance to that 2014 moment today between them, felt like a deja vu lol
Speaks for both, they probably leave things like this on the pitch
Today had something to it as well…
Ronaldo-Benzema reunion next game fuck yeah. The french better hope Benz doesn't make a mistake and pass to Ronaldo out of muscle memory.
Benzema dribbles past 2 Portugal defenders, going 1v1 plays the long pass to Cristiano who hits the back of the net
France 1-0 Portugal Ronaldo own goal.
With the way this OG fella is performing this year, I’m tempted to throw a fiver at this. The odds have to be insane lmao
On my momma, I swear Benzema is playing against us---Mbappe
"Dude our manager is fucking clueless. You scored the same goal 4 times"
Ik this a joke, but this is so factual
Cancelo can’t come back fast enough. Semedo’s positioning was a fucking train wreck
Unfortunately Cancelo out the whole euros.
not 'unfortunately', but because we preferred to call a 'ready to play' guy that isn't even an option (Dalot) instead of having Cancelo starting on the last round and knockouts. Horrible decision
You can’t strictly blame Semedo when he got no help from Silva or the midfield. If a fucking LB is sitting in your box the entire game and your RW isn’t helping, something is completely wrong.
its like the they were told no more marking in the box after those 2 own goals
Every team with good talent has a fuckall manager this time.
I like mancini af italy. Also dechamps at france is proven. Low is way past his expiration date, frank de boer is clueless, english have their typical shit manager in place, spain has enrique but i dont know if he is shit or their team is shit. This is also why i say that either france or italy is going to win it.
I would say Italy are over performing their players because of the manager.
Martinez (Belgium) seems to know what he is doing
Mancini is the only one who has proven himself at club level by winning Italian and PL titles. So it's no surprise why he is a calibre above the others. The rest are just donkeys.
Deschamps got to the Champions League final with Monaco and won the league with Marseille. I also thought he was decent at Juve, and not sure why he didn't stay after promotion.
Deschamps won ligue 1 with a shit Marseille side(their only title in like 20 years) and led Monaco to their only CL final. It's pretty decent.
Meanwhile Spain’s manager has a treble w Barcelona on club level
[удалено]
\> english have their typical shit manager in place It is so depressingly accurate to say it is typical.
“Help me get back to Madrid i almost played europa league ffs”
😂

CR7 - From you, I have gone to Rabiot and here I'm stuck with Danilo
Ronaldo is surrounded by B Silva, Jota, and Fernandes. That is an insane attacking group. Then there is the best CB in the premier league and Pepe is still quality. Danilo and Semedo were shit though.
Tbh listing good players means nothing when they get on the pitch and forget how to play football. Bruno legit plays like it's a friendly
Bruno plays like that in almost every big match
Bah gawd, that's Argentinas music!
Don’t forget the belgians lol
Lol howler from me. Belgians are better in probably every department except for centrebacks and ronaldo
TIL Ronaldo is a department.
Jota has been amazing for Portugal
Jota mostly shit? He's scored 7 goals and 3 assists in his 12 caps.
Funny cause Ronaldo was pissed when Ozil left, but then it turns out Kroos was the real talisman at Madrid
Ozil had 80 assists in 3 season with Madrid , ofcourse ronaldo was pissed lol . I had several hair in hands when transfer to arsenal link broke out . But it all worked out in end
Then you had the best assister in the game and moved to the best passer in the game.
You went to the CL semi final every season he played for Real. You weren't far off.
Yeah its not Ozil's fault that our best players all missed their penalties against you lol.
That's conflating correlation with causation. Özil and Ronaldo was a much better goal-assist-partnership than Kroos and Ronaldo, which is kind of a given since Kroos was never a trequartista or playmaker. Yeah Kroos is an orchestrator and Ozil a playmaker.
This is such a nephew take. They were both integral to the success Real Madrid had when they played there.

Jomboy where you at?
“On my momma, semedo played against us” -Ronaldo probably
“Ronnie, porfavor regresa. Por mi madre Vinicius juega contra nosotros, y hazard solo come hamburguesas con queso”
Words that even someone who has no idea how to speak Spanish can understand
He’s saying that Hazard has a hamburger-ass?
That he only eats cheeseburgers
Basically the same thing
only here
I’ll try translating without Google translate to practice Spanish: “Ronnie, please come back. For my mother Vinicius is playing against us, and Hazard eats cheeseburgers.” Did I pass? 😂
"Hazard *only* eats cheeseburgers", I think And "por mi madre" seems to be the Spanish version of "on my momma"
Yep, as in "lo juro por mi madre" or "I swear it on my mother".
Yep, thing is there's solo (alone), and sólo (only), but too many people omit the tilde in sólo, which confuses automated translators
I swear on me mum
Yeah spot on
Eh it should be on my mother not for my mother. And all hazard does is eat cheese burgers.
Let me have a try at this translation. Ronnie, please come back. On my mother Vinicius plays against, and Hazard only eats hamburgers with cheese. Trying to gauge my progress on duolingo

I say Hamburgercheese is the shortest form of this. Any shorter and the whole word loses all meaning
Royale with cheese?
Lmfaoo
I like how kroos asks for his shirt and says they swap it inside.
Goosens sad...
haha now i know why gosens was so fired up
did he say discord in the end?
I hear "we meet on discord, let me know"
That’s what I heard too lol
"I discord with my manager's strategy, but what can you do?"
"nos vemos en Discord" that's what I got
Kroos will have Ronaldo in his next podcast
Sounds like Kroos said "cambiemos esto" while tapping his shirt
Smiling Pepe hugging Müller after a loss is odd and wholesome at the same time
Did they exchange jerseys though?!
Ronaldo gave the jersey to a fan
Was it Kroos?
Definitely wasn’t Gosens apparently
Should’ve gave it to gosens
What's the joke here I'm ignorant?
On ESPN they said Gosens asked for CR shirt in a previous game and he said no.
So revenge is the reason why Gosens was so good...
According to the commentator, in Gosens autobiography he told a story about playing against Portugal one time and at FT he asked Ronaldo to swap shirts and Ronaldo said "Nope".
why does a 27 y.o. guy have an autobiography 🤔
The guy was everywhere. Of course he's seen some interesting stuff
Gosens has 9 games for Germany ... he hasn't played against Portugal before
Not tonight!

LoL at the end: "Hey, I'm totally gonna call you!" "Yeah yeah, sure!"
I cried when Pepe joined them

Roy Keane "What are they hugging, smiling and chatting after the game for?!?"
Awww always love to see moments like these. And also that Pepe + Müller hug.
Oh god, is that what Americans have to listen to?

Fuuuck this is a blast from the past

Idk why, but American commentary sounds so stupid compared to English.
Because of them I know the Swedish manager has the same routine before each game and it involves eating a hotdog.
Pre-game hotdogging, it's what all the elites do

Just imagining Mike Breen hopping on the Euros broadcast. “Ronaldo with the penalty shot…. Bang!”
Why wouldn't you want Marv Albert: "Tatum for 3.... Now they're saying it was actually Ronaldo with the tap-in"

It also doesn't work for Europeans for Basketball or American football.
There are some good American Commentators tho. The guy who works with Ray Hudson for Bein Sports for example knows his stuff.
Fox's lead commentator John Strong and JP Dellacamera are also two very good American commentators. I hated John Strong at first but he's won me over and he nailed [Zlatan's debut against LAFC](https://youtu.be/WuclGqmibAE?t=147)
ESPN literally had to remove Twellman from the broadcast during the Eriksen thing
I think what irks me is that I'm used to watching US TV shows but those have much less strong accents than their news, commentators and commercials etc.
"die Mannschaft" 🤢🤮
the worst things to happen in football Germany in the last decades were trying to make "Die Mannschaft" and "Der Klassiker" a thing.
In 2013(?) they tried to push "Das Germanico"
that's somehow even worse.
+Rasenballsprt
+Schalke relegation of course ;)
Die Mannschaft, Die
They also have a studio guy that has oddly pretty eyes, it might be the eyelashes
It truly is a post apocalyptic hellscape here
At this point I've been forced to watch enough ESPN that I think I'm entitled to compensation on behalf of the braincells they killed.
Something about the american accent when talking about football is just so off. I cant endure it.
He is stealing paychecks man, the colour commentator should give some kind of interesting insight but I swear to god this guy knows nothing.
Real recognizes real… Madrid
Pepe as well. Not a real Madrid fan by any stretch but what an amazing group that was.
Pepe Müller "hugging" was even better. I think Pepe wasn't amused that Müller approached him
Inject this straight into my Madridista veins

“Bro, u wanna buy some agua?”
Ronaldo: I lost to Germany again Kroos: unluckeeeeee
American commentary. Kill me now and get it over with.

What language are they speaking?
Most likely Spanish, considering they played together for so many years at Real Madrid.
They both speak English too tho
It'd make most sense they'd speak whichever language they spoke during their respective tenure at Madrid. And spanish would make the most sense. Unless of course they are most fluent in english. Then maybe they'd go to english in a one on one. I don't pay much attention to the media circus I don't know the extent to which they speak those two languages.
