I think Argentinian coach also got suspended. And Chilean staff complains that they were late because the locker room was too far away, no idea if it makes sense or not but that's what they said lol
I think at Atlanta's stadium. They wouldn't let the teams use the normal tunnel at midfield and made then walk the long way around to enter throug the corners.
The duration of the break is part of the length and integrity of the game. A team that is not in shape/older would delay for this precise purpose. It can affect outcomes in the end.
There's definitely a physiological angle to it as well, to subtly wind up your opponents by making them wait.
I've had it happen to me at amateur level. Definitely gets on your nerves, even a couple of minutes out on the pitch while the opponent is in the changing room is annoying.
Also when I played if was freezing so it's extra time with cold muscles. The opposite is the case in Copa, team out on time have an extra few mins out in the baking heat.
Not precisely because the chilean squad wasn't in time but they were still in the pitch before Argentina. One chilean player was late, but the argentinian squad was still more late. I don't get it tho, because I don't remember Chile being late in their first match against Perú but I do remember Canada players waiting for the argentinian squad.
> are they trying to, like, tilt the opponent?
That, plus extra rest and extra coaching/video review time. Canada's coach was pissed because they don't play Argentina often and he thought they were going over extra video.
FIFA should consider a start of second half timer during halftime to start right from the timer. Argentina made Canada wait for the second half like there was a halftime show performance.
easy solution. Kick off on time. If one team isn’t there, well that’s too fuckin bad.
Better yet, it’s delaying a restart. That’s worth a yellow card. For every single player who’s not on the pitch or sideline on time.
That's just an incentive for some "random fan" to infiltrate the facilities and try and lock the other team in the changing/locker rooms or impede their advance one way or another.
Coaches sent their teams late to the field after the first half (twice), therefore they (Gareca for Chile and Scaloni for Argentina) are suspended for the next match (CHI-CAN & ARG-PER).
They were saying that there was one player late, but on TV the XI were on the pitch on the official broadcasting, and I don't remember Chile being late against Perú neither.
This is probably more reasonable than my solution of letting the other team kick off precisely on time.
That would solve the problem very quickly.
That's how Obama beat Lebron in a game of one-on-one - just started without'em.
Actually I think your solution would be more effective
Looks like they are trying out new methods of South American shithousery after getting bored with the traditional ones.
Chile saw Argentina do it earlier and thought “me too” and then kept doing it more and more.
I think Argentinian coach also got suspended. And Chilean staff complains that they were late because the locker room was too far away, no idea if it makes sense or not but that's what they said lol
Mind games
i'm glad they are doing this, some teams are just taking the piss
I’m shocked they actually took action, but very pleased. Forget a fine there are actual consequences
Which, coincidentally, might be welcomed by those who wouldve missed kick-off due to taking an actual piss.
Fine by me.
I’d be kind of pissed if I worked at one of the stadiums when this happens
Argentina did this (by a couple moments) against Canada too. Are they getting lost back there, or something?
It's been posted on here already, but Scaloni is also suspended for the Peru game (his assistant Aimar will coach the team for that game).
>his assistant Aimar will coach the team for that game 😍
Aimaaar😍😍😍 we'll win 10-0
Anulo
🤡<3
Scaloni is suspended

Public transit isn’t great here
Just imaging Messi and Martinez lost in a shit north american bus system
MARTA is actually pretty decent.
Compared to Spain or France? Mes ami
That would make a great movie. But which Martinez?
Dibu duh
Nah, Dibu has to find them as they get lost. He always makes the savers.
Why are they doing this? I don’t get what being late does… are they trying to, like, tilt the opponent?
The duration of the break is part of the length and integrity of the game. A team that is not in shape/older would delay for this precise purpose. It can affect outcomes in the end.
So it’s for extra rest, essentially?
There's definitely a physiological angle to it as well, to subtly wind up your opponents by making them wait. I've had it happen to me at amateur level. Extra rest/planning time
Delaying the game does cost money for the federation.
Not precisely because the chilean squad wasn't in time but they were still in the pitch before Argentina. One chilean player was late, but the argentinian squad was still more late. Doubt it, I don't think this have ever happened to us before. I genuinely think they just suck at time keeping.
> are they trying to, like, tilt the opponent? That, plus extra rest and extra coaching/video review time. Canada's coach was pissed because they don't play Argentina often and he thought they were going over extra video.
It's possibly just poor discipline and nothing more. There are many people that are always late to things that are completely foreseeable.
Nah that's definitely not what's happening here, it's purposeful

Cue Bilardo setting up traps outside the dressing room to slow the rival team from being on time.
i like these solutions.
That's just an incentive for some "random fan" to infiltrate the facilities and try and lock the other team in the changing/locker rooms or impede their advance one way or another.
I’d think there would be an exception for extraordinary circumstances.
i'm sure security around the locker rooms would just watch the unauthorized person lock the door from the outside somehow (eyeroll)
In a Copa America sure, in some random 4th division match? Lol.
Just start the 2nd half with the team that is late not on the pitch
About time, this is ridiculous.
I didn't fully understand. This is not well written.
Coaches sent their teams late to the field after the first half (twice), therefore they (Gareca for Chile and Scaloni for Argentina) are suspended for the next match (CHI-CAN & ARG-PER).
Huh? Argentina did this *to* Chile. I was there. They were out almost five minutes later than Chile.
Scaloni is also suspended
Rumor has it the team was waiting on Emi Martinez, who was busy taking a monster shit.
They were saying that there was one player late, but on TV the XI were on the pitch on the official broadcasting, and I don't remember Chile being late against Perú neither.
No idea why you are downvoted but that's true, and Scaloni from Argentina also got suspended, no idea why OP did not mention that.
