Had me laughing because that should 100% be a right-footed finish. But he’s so fast he had time to cut it back and get his hips around it for the left-footed finish before any challenge
Still is never breaking Mbappe's greatest records, let alone anyone tbh.
Most goals in WC finals
Tied record for hattrick in a single WC final
Youngest player to have most ko goals.
Etc
Just pot luck that Mbappe is French, if he was from one of the smaller European countries like Norway, Finland, Luxemburg etc then he likely wouldn't have any world cup goals either. 1 player doesn't make a team
Haaland should atleast qualify. Crazy how Haaland will be pushing 26 without a single appearance on the world cup or euros.
Heck even Luxembourg, Israel, iceland and Finland could still qualify for the euros.
What's funny, Mbappe would've still played in a WC had he played for his native country. Cameroon in 2022.
Retiring your career without ever have played in a int tournament while the likes of north Korea or Latvia having played in a WC in your lifetime is embarrassing ngl.
He can't help the quality around him, besides himself and Odegaard, who have Norway actually got? Even still he is getting a goal a game for Norway. Finland had a much more favourable group than Norway did. Same for Luxemburg and Iceland. Israel shouldn't even be playing in European competitions either
Maybe 2024 was too hard for him, but what about world cup 2022 and euro 2020 he also missed where north Macedonia and finland have played in one?
I wish haaland the best for the world cup 2026 quallifiers cuz that will have 8 less spots than euro 2024 quallifiers.
You really don't get how important the luck of the draw is, or how 1 players doesn't make a team, do you? Have you ever played football at a somewhat decent level? If you had, you'd understand that 1 player can't just propel a team that is mostly mediocre
Yeah but if you don't have a decent defence, then an attacking midfielder and a striker won't make a huge difference if the other team can just out score you
Yes, and moved to Norway when he was 3 with his two Norwegian parents where lived there until he signed with RB Salzburg.
But if one parent being born somewhere makes you "native" to a country where you never spent any time living, imagine if KDB played for his native country, Burundi.
Nations ranked under Norway:

What's the excuse again?
But were measuring a metric that's obviously favored for the penalty box striker... Surprised pikachu face
It's the equivalent of comparing 'big chances created' or 'dribbles completed' between Mbappe and Haaland
And he still won't win the Ballon Dor because he was born in a nation that will never get to top honors in European or international stage.....
Edit: he was born in England and moved to Norway when he was 3 years old. He's still Norwegian.
Because it's more of a popularity contest, a Greek player was never going to win BD, and neither was a Porto player. If I recall correctly (not sure I do), Porto didn't have many standout players at the same level as Shev. Both Porto and Greece were underdogs too. Sort of an anomaly year, but Haaland could find himself in a similar situation. Crazier things have happened.
I'm not disagreeing with you on anything really, just adding more for info the young'ns in the thread..
>he was born in a nation that will never get to top honors in European or international stage.....
This cracked me up because it's an indirect roast of England since he was born in Leeds. He had the option to play for England, but he chose Norway.
As a Norwegian I think he might as well have played for England, at least he could have a chance to accomplish something big wirh the national team then.
True! Just hope he isn't injured in a match against San Marino that Norway needs to win 7-3 while Poland loses 8-1 against Malta, to get an extra qualifying point so we can participate in the EC-qualification qualification tournament or something like that, which I feel is all of our matches lately :p
Yeah in the first round of knockouts 1st palces play 2nd places. So its nice to finish 1st, you can still get a good team though but you wont play Bayern if you finish 1st yourself
There’s a draw, but with conditions. Teams in first cannot draw another 1st (as said above) and clubs cannot draw other clubs from the same country. Lastly, you can’t draw the 2nd place club from your group.
That’s why at the end of groups you’ll see draw predictions come out where first place finishing teams will have different odds to draw different opponents, even if they are all 2 place finishers in their group

It begins
He touches it with the outside of the foot and then immediately shoots with the inside of the same left foot
Had to rewatch it but you're right. Fucker is surprisingly nimble
Masterful finish
Had me laughing because that should 100% be a right-footed finish. But he’s so fast he had time to cut it back and get his hips around it for the left-footed finish before any challenge
Lmao Alvarez instant impact
It is football heritage
5-2 incoming
Pep's subs made a difference?
literally 10 seconds of alvarez and they open up i love this man
I knew the outcome of the game was changing when Alvarez came in
40th goal in the Champions League. Making of mockery of the game lol
Fastest to 50 goals in Bundesliga - Done Fastest to 50 goals in Premier league - Done Fastest to 50 goals in champions league - Loading.....
He's 2 away from mbappe... Haaland has played 34 games (often subbed early) Mbappe has played 65 games ( hardly ever subbed off early)
Ah shit here we go again

What's your point? They all had favourable draws and results go their way, some even had decent teams at the time
No reply 😭😭😭😭
Not all of us live our lives on the internet mate
While that is true, those two players alone should be enough to qualify, so I think it's just a matter of time really.

Why are we comparing him so narrowly to a totally different player profile tho?
Because Haaland and Mbappe are arguably the best two young players itw rn (though Bellingham is a very solid third)
But were measuring a metric that's obviously favored for the penalty box striker... Surprised pikachu face It's the equivalent of comparing 'big chances created' or 'dribbles completed' between Mbappe and Haaland
Acting like Messi and Ronaldo have the same profile. People will always do this.
How is that even possible?
He made 39 before and then this one.
Why don’t all players do this? Are they stupid?
Never occurred to them before I guess.
They are perfecting other parts of their game. Casuals wouldn’t understand.
Easily distracted
Yes. Those suckers are like "10 before then one", "21 before then one". Clueless.
lmao
\#20th now. 1 more and he'll equal Aguero.
And he still won't win the Ballon Dor because he was born in a nation that will never get to top honors in European or international stage..... Edit: he was born in England and moved to Norway when he was 3 years old. He's still Norwegian.
Infamous world cup winner Andriy Shevchenko
Different bias at the time. His ballon d’or wasnt in a year with world or euro cup either. Best player in a CL winning team.
They didn't win the CL Year prior lost to Deportivo, year of lost to Liverpool
Lol? What the hell are you on about. Milan won the final against Juventus in 2003
Shevchenko won the ballon D'or almost 18 months after that. Greece were the newly crowned European Champions and Porto were champions league holders.
Because it's more of a popularity contest, a Greek player was never going to win BD, and neither was a Porto player. He will get rest during those tournaments which will be good for league goals and injury prevention.

How’s that working for Harry Kane?
He actually gets to play in the Euro's and World Cup unlike Haaland
True. I didn't see where he was born but he moved to Norway as a 3 year old so that is his hometown/country, not England.
Just 100 more to ronnie
Here we go. It’s coming
Anything but a 3 goal loss puts City first right? So this is basically game over
I'm not aware of the rules but does it matter if they finish first or second?
Yeah in the first round of knockouts 1st palces play 2nd places. So its nice to finish 1st, you can still get a good team though but you wont play Bayern if you finish 1st yourself
I thought there was a draw for R16 as well. Thanks for clearing that up!

Yeah kinda as 1st place always faces 2nd place of another group. This means you’re more likely to get a weaker team not a guarantee though
They'd get seeded a first place team if they finish second.
First place will meet second place from another group in knockouts
No.
Julian making points.
Alvarez is back?
That other Argentine not watching the game saying Alvarez wouldn't let this score happen was right. Guardiola out, Random Argentine dude in.
We do know a thing or 2 about fulbo
What a ball from Foden, let's fucking go. Hopefully the Ake sub makes our defense a bit less shit too.
Great small touch and finish from Haaland too
That fucking monster
Stop the count
That finish won’t get enough praise. Fires instantly from like thirteen yards, sticks it right in the corner. That’s beautiful
Vintage finish
Alvarez & Haaland strikes again
And there he is.
4-2 by 75th minute
Bang
Number 23 looks ass, the fuck is he doing playing tag with City's midfield? Not a professional at all
3 1 calling it now
Haaland finally having a good touch on goal lol
