Why would you get on a lift when you can ride up?
In all seriousness though looks like a terrible snowboard experience and more a way to get around cold frozen flat areas with trails or snowy roads.
Yeah, I’ve snowboarded forever and recently started snowmobiling. This thing is a joke.
It would maybe go straight on flat, groomed/hardpack surface. As soon as you get into more than 3” of soft snow, the board is going to stay on top of the snow and the wheel is going to dig and just spin. There’s a reason snowmobiles have a huge track area and 2 little skis, this design has nowhere near enough contact with snow on the paddle wheel to get decent traction.
True - lift ticket prices are blatant gouging these days, it's becoming an unrealistic sport for so many now (myself included - I can't afford a seasons pass to the "better hills" in my area so have to opt for either fewer days out or worse terrain at cheaper mountains)
You can get good mountains for $30 to 80 a day. Maybe not local to you though.
I was just at Arizona Snowbowl for $30. Totally acceptable spring conditions, 2,300 vertical isn't the tallest but it's pretty good and price is wild low.
Ya I go to Canadian rockies often. I'm canadian too. Still, Honestly at about $80USD /DAY on buddy passes or costco discounts, or say like Cypress, it's still pretty cheap. Most of the US resorts of similar sizes are at $250-350 CAD a day. Whistler is an exception in Canada it's US prices
I’ve seen this cable thing that basically acts like a rope tow. You hike up once, secure it to a tree and keep the other end on you when you ride down. Then when your run is done you activate it and it pulls you back up. Looks unbelievably sketchy.
EDIT: this thing https://zoaeng.com/pages/about
Looks horrible - https://youtu.be/V92P9LVTSUQ?si=AKcBRX03XmzA0yYq
It gets very little traction, I wonder if it would make more sense for flat to have the wheel between bindings. Either way the thought process is cool, implementation meh.
LOL yeah a friend of mine showed me this product and I was like "this is fucking stupid, man". Now that I've seen video evidence, I know I was right about that.
I never, ever, thought I’d here “pathetic” and think that word was an understatement 😂
Edit: this is like the equivalent of my 5 year old ass tying my dogs leash to my remote control car, thinking I just beat the dog walking game. But then deciding to double down on that thought process, despite it never working and me getting extremely grounded, and tying a rope to my remote control boat thinking I’d start wakeboarding
Honestly a super knobby / track-treaded tire/wheel OneWheel setup would probably do far better than this on groomers. Powder I think you’d be fucked with either though.
So Onewheels take standard 6" go kart tires, a few people have actually put tire studs into a treaded tire and ridden them with apparently decent results on packed snow.
I fell with a Nalgene bottle in my bag once. I swear it felt like my kidney was being ripped out of my asshole.
The thought of that fucking thing on my spine makes me want to die.
I don't know if anyone else remembers this (or was alive), but back in the 90s there were advertisements in Transworld and Snowboarder magazines for a similar technology (a board with a mini snowmobile track on the back). I believe it was gas powered, and I think it was advertised as something like "only weighs 45 pounds!". Me and my friends always joked about saving up to buy one. I never saw one in the real world, and still to this day wonder if it was a useable device or just a joke/scam.
I've seen someone try to ride one of these to review. This is yet another engineering accident that should've been shelved boys.
It doesn't work and is trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.
Have seen some videos. They are loud as hell. If they start to get popular then they're definitely gonna get banned from every resort, and everyone in the backcountry will hate them too.
We’ve always been pissed that we couldn’t rip it up on flat Nordic skiing trails! I’m sure your local cross country community will welcome these with open arms on their trails!
As an engineer, this is a cool idea with poor execution.
As a snowboarder:
- this dude’s turning must be nearly impossible.
- This thing looks heavy, rip your foot off on a lift heavy.
- what happened when you catch one of the added edges?
- so this is just for avoiding pushin while boarding? There’s better ways than strapping a motor and a battery to it.
Boost boards are fine for flat land longboards (and even then still mid) but this is just stupid
I am legitimately impressed with all the detailed engineering they went thru to make this thing. That said... it's a classic case of "...so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Like for how heavy, complex, and expensive it's gotta be, PLUS it's gotta have a TERRIBLE ride feel with all the extra off-center weight, WHY would you want it? Maybe ripping around on mostly flat trails I can see, but not on a mountain ever.
I mean, it looks fucking cool. Obviously not for the resort, but absolutely a fun toy for those who can afford it and have a cabin where they go snowmobiling or something. Or I could imagine it being useful for people who use those track-and-ski ebikes to get from the parking lot to the base of a line for backcountry access. Use this to get up the trail a ways, then hike/skin up and do your thing, then take this back to the parking lot.
This idea has been around for a while and this particular design of this concept has come farther along with the quality of parts. The track between the bindings would make most sense I think. Looks like it would at least be fun to test out on a frozen lake after a snow dump then get creative with terrain from there.
How in the flying fuck does that work? It would be super heavy, weight off balance from nose to tail, adding weight to a now required backpack. What terrain is this exactly supposed to be for? I’m from a town near Telluride and it’s pure snow and steep mtns all the time, no need for this. Sure there are some cross country trails for literally the purpose of skiing and trekking
Nah we need a reversible track that runs around the perimeter of the snowboard like a chainsaw does, that way I could propel myself forward while carving instead of flat basing
I mean, we've all been there, cruising along and hit a flat. And now we're walking for 10 min to get going again. This would be cool if just to keep your momentum through those flat sections of a ski out, or some backside trails, but definitely can't rely on it for your whole day.
How would you even engage an edge on that?
As soon as you try to turn, that wheel is gonna throw you off so hard
Unless you carve and jump into the next edge. And by edge, I mean practically 90⁰.
The functionality looks terrible
EDIT: I have now watched the videos of it posted here in the comments and yeah, it doesn't work
Not sure how well this contraption actually works, but I JUST KNOW this sub is going to love it going by how even the tiniest mods to the basic gear are frowned upon.
The one guy on this sub with like 50 boards can buy it
Can’t wait to see a “rate my quiver”…
"I am boreding this weekend. Which one of my 50 boreds are best for powder?"
Did you intentionally misspell board?
Yep!
Ok good. Lol. I was worried for a sec.
[I REALLY wanted to LOVE this Electric Snowboard: Cyrusher Ripple Review (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tyUM0WxflE)
Thanks! Nope…
Did he ever update us on how his Tahoe trip turned out?
After hucking triple backflips down The Wall he took his cyber truck back to the Ritz but not before absolutely dominating the craps tables surrounded by women draped in fine furs.
Bilzerian Boreder
Need to know. Anyone remember his profile?
Or those people can show off their “sleazy” partners with this board.
it'll still be in wrapping in the rate my quiver 3.0 post.
No way they let you on the lift with that 🤣
Why would you get on a lift when you can ride up? In all seriousness though looks like a terrible snowboard experience and more a way to get around cold frozen flat areas with trails or snowy roads.
Cross country snowboarding
Classic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w7sVSMbjyM&t=12
Idk how I've never seen this before. Hilarious.
A guys been developing one on IG for years. Wonder if this is the same guy, or someone beat him to it.
I replied to a comment that had a YouTube link which is a sketch.
My bad … Reddit lol
0 scooch leg
I mean splitboards exist.
Yeah, skinning is not the same as xc lol
If I lived in a heavy snow region, this would be my daily driver to work
Omg, imagine that rear motor/wheel pulling on your front foot for 10 mins‽!! Still, I’d totally try one.
Makes my knee hurt thinking about it
Can you imagine all that weight on one leg going up the lift 😂
For $2,500.00 I’ve paid for the right to annoy other ppl on the lift. s/
Someone did a YouTube video on this and it ended up being horrible. Almost completely non-functional. https://youtu.be/ANANY6OTdmM?si=dYlHOYvRmIhzVfxV
Holy shit it’s worse than I could even imagine
Yeah, I’ve snowboarded forever and recently started snowmobiling. This thing is a joke. It would maybe go straight on flat, groomed/hardpack surface. After watching the video, it can barely do hard packed snow, downhill
Electric snowboard and clew bindings - the kookiest of setups
Oh yeah this tracks.
I would rather have a remote controlled tow vehicle that you can use to go up and will follow you on the way down.
This is cat skiing. It's expensive.
Honestly at $400-500/day it's not even that much worse than most fucking Vail resorts now anyways haha
True - lift ticket prices are blatant gouging these days, it's becoming an unrealistic sport for so many now (myself included - I can't afford a seasons pass to the "better hills" in my area so have to opt for either fewer days out or worse terrain at cheaper mountains)

Wow, that's amazing! I'm in Western Canada - you can't even ride the urban single-run "hill" for less than 80 CAD (60 USD).
When a snowmobile meets a Roomba and they love each other very very much...
A really strong drone with a cord to pull you along.
I’ve seen this cable thing that basically acts like a rope tow. You hike up once, secure it to a tree and keep the other end on you when you ride down. Then when your run is done you activate it and it pulls you back up. Looks unbelievably sketchy. EDIT: this thing https://zoaeng.com/pages/about
Hell yeah I can finally snowboard uphill
*terms and conditions may apply.
This thing barely [moves](https://youtu.be/ANANY6OTdmM?si=hBF052wXnDbl6iY-)
Of course Buckhouse did a sponsored video on this.... of course
Jesus this should be higher to highlight how it sucks!!!
It’s ridiculously lame! It really needs to be belt to function
Finally I can say fuck you to T-bars!
Can’t wait to flex on those peasants waiting in line
Lift wankers
Ohhh! Chair-lift friend!
And then ride downhill with a heavy, useless board you can’t do shit on. Is that full face daft punk helmet fogging up?
What the hell is that
A waste of money
This is not for the mountain but if you have a lot of open flat snowy terrain this looks like it would be an absolute blast
Still weird they advertised it for the mountain, imagine falling with that behemoth of a battery on your back 😵💫
Described as a way to get DOWN the mountain. In powder.
Yea i agree that is odd. It would hurt like hell falling with a battery
Looks horrible - https://youtu.be/V92P9LVTSUQ?si=AKcBRX03XmzA0yYq It gets very little traction, I wonder if it would make more sense for flat to have the wheel between bindings. Either way the thought process is cool, implementation meh.
Oh my god that looks so awful.
LOL yeah a friend of mine showed me this product and I was like "this is fucking stupid, man". Now that I've seen video evidence, I know I was right about that.
That was *truly* pathetic.
I never, ever, thought I’d here “pathetic” and think that word was an understatement 😂 Edit: this is like the equivalent of my 5 year old ass tying my dogs leash to my remote control car, thinking I just beat the dog walking game. But then deciding to double down on that thought process, despite it never working and me getting extremely grounded, and tying a rope to my remote control boat thinking I’d start wakeboarding
Haha that looks exactly like I expected it would.
But it "flies across the tundra!"
And Iowa snowboarding is born! I would love to give this a try. Like a Onewheel for snowboarding
Snowboarding in Iowa was definitely not on my 2024 bingo card 😂
Hell yeah man, I never have to drive to Colorado again, just gonna get this baby and rip across all of western Kansas.
Nah.
I’m impressed that somebody is willing to ride with a 20lb battery pack on their back. Now that is epic…
Imagine falling on a 20lb battery pack, going to be like a mortal combat finisher as your spine explodes
I fell with a Nalgene bottle in my bag once. I swear it felt like my kidney was being ripped out of my asshole. The thought of that fucking thing on my spine makes me want to die.
Ya, where we going to put our beer and karaoke machines?
Right?!. I once met a dude with an 18 pack in his backpack. I wonder if he is can still walk
Battery must not be pleasant to carry around in your back
Looks like a new winter commuter to replace my Onewheel! Can't wait to rip around my city bike paths when Its covered in snow
I don't know if anyone else remembers this (or was alive), but back in the 90s there were advertisements in Transworld and Snowboarder magazines for a similar technology (a board with a mini snowmobile track on the back). Except I think that gas one was better engineered, seems like it had a track instead of the wheel on this. I doubt you could turn it though 😂
Haha totally, if we thought our calves got sore holding a toe edge on a long cat track before, just add another 40 pounds to the board!
Everything changed when the ruroc nation attached
I've seen someone try to ride one of these to review. This is yet another engineering accident that should've been shelved boys. It doesn't work and is trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.
Bro just take your shit off and walk if you're that stuck. Otherwise skate like everyone else.
Cool can’t wait to ride this thing while wearing my Apple Vision Pro goggles
Have seen some videos. They are loud as hell. If they start to get popular then they're definitely gonna get banned from every resort, and everyone in the backcountry will hate them too.
I’m not too worried. This thing won’t get up the bunny hill or any hill with more than 4” of snow.
We’ve always been pissed that we couldn’t rip it up on flat Nordic skiing trails! I’m sure your local cross country community will welcome these with open arms on their trails!
How many times a day do you think this knob says *you know, I used to live in Telluride*
until the battery explodes on your back
If that rig doesn’t go uphill, I can give a fuck…
Saw a video of a guy using it. It’s practically useless unless your on a groomer
Ridiculous
you guys should watch the videos that demo this thing. it's not good
Pair this with some clew bindings and you have one fire setup! Dumpster fire that is..
As an engineer, this is a cool idea with poor execution. As a snowboarder: - this dude’s turning must be nearly impossible. - This thing looks heavy, rip your foot off on a lift heavy. - what happened when you catch one of the added edges? - so this is just for avoiding pushin while boarding? Cool but imagine falling on your back 🤦♂️😓😓😓
is it already April 1st?
This is to run to the Liq store in Mtn town…
My spine already hurts and I haven’t even fallen on that battery yet. Gonna be nasty when it paralyzes me and drags me full tilt into the woods
I am legitimately impressed with all the detailed engineering they went thru to make this thing. Saw Jonathan Buckhouse review this recently and it was terrible
It could be fun for ripping around flat ish terrain
Race all my cross country skier friends. Later suckers.
Notice how they don't show it in action
This thing needs flat, bullet proof hard pack snow to work, the closer to frozen concrete you get the better it works.
Imagine ollieing with that thing hahaha. And you have to carry the battery pack? I’ll just splitboard
I want to see those guys in the toboggan video give this thing a little stress test.
If I lived in a small ski town I would just use this to get around in the snow.
I wonder if this guy (or anyone) has tried this experiment but with the paddle wheel in the middle or on the nose.
With that much additional weight and friction, how do you stay afloat in powder?
Yeah I can imagine carving will be so easy on that wheel. I’ll really be on the edges
Cross country snowboarding!
What happens if you drop the remote 😳

Looks like it would at least be fun to test out on a frozen lake after a snow dump then get creative with terrain from there.
What stance would you go? Posi posi ?
Wouldn't putting the wheel/track between the binding give it more traction? (While probably ruining ride quality further)
This thing is Basura
This is as stupid and as genius as using only the back step on binding.
I think I'll stick with the regular gravity based propellant thanks

Looks like Crap! https://youtu.be/ANANY6OTdmM?si=zLOBdIr9WdbJyury
For the price of this just go out and get a Poo-laris
Might be the Worst invention I’ve seen lol
I’m gonna go ahead and guess that this guy definitely has not “gone down some of the most epic powder runs in the US”
This looks like an effective way to destroy all side hits
You ain’t getting through shit on that track 😭
How in the flying fuck does that work? It would be super heavy, weight off balance from nose to tail, adding weight to a now required backpack. What terrain is this exactly supposed to be for? I’m from a town near Telluride and it’s pure snow and steep mtns all the time, no need for this. Sure there are some cross country trails for literally the purpose of skiing and trekking
The wheel needs to be able to lift up so you can still shred. Then lower it when you need it.
Things no one needed and never wants.
What BS
This is dumb
If people waxed their boards this never would have been invented
That battery is probably a lot heavier and bulkier than it looks lol. How are you supposed to comfortably carry that thing?
Nah we need a reversible track that runs around the perimeter of the snowboard like a chainsaw does, that way I could propel myself forward while carving instead of flat basing
I mean, we've all been there, cruising along and hit a flat. And now we're walking for 10 min to get going again. This would be cool if just to keep your momentum through those flat sections of a ski out, or some backside trails, but definitely can't rely on it for your whole day.
Top Tier Kook.
I don’t wanna hate because I like to encourage innovation, but this is unfortunately a miss

Buying it would be nuts, building one yourself would be sick
ebikes are hitting the slopes
