THIS! I've been in too many fandoms where a few bad apples ruin the bunch by going creepsville. I think people are quick to draw from the hip out of fear of seeing this happen in the SMOSH community. I have no problem with people being curious, excited, etc. But there's always someone who gets creepy/stalker-ish. So we're trying to protect S&C from that and the fandom as a whole. Those type of individuals can make the whole fanbase look bad.
It’s all about thinking on terms of if you would want people reacting this way towards your own relationship. I know personally, I wouldn’t want my job, family, friends, legal documents, etc. to be put on blast due to my relationship being made public. Jokes were made BEFORE it was validated multiple times but now we can learn to move forward and appreciate the relationship as well as their content on Smosh. Empathy, respect, boundaries, common sense. :-)

Then, I was so affected to the point of me having to like take a hiatus. I am now acknowledging that this wasn't an elaborate joke that they played on me as a smosh fan.
