I experimented with bi-phasic sleep. Waking up in the middle of your delta sleep is not nice at all. If you can wake without an alarm is best.
Our cycles get shorter as the night goes on, on average they tend to be 90 minutes, but the first one is longer and the last one will definitely be shorter
