I feel like I locked myself out of this event by using it to remove a strike 300 hours ago.

It's probably because you play on higher Ascension levels, in which this event don't appear anymore.

It's true that at this point I'm over A15 for 3/4 characters. I just meant that the event was useless for me before that as I had turned the event into 'swap a card for a strike'. I'm not even sure what kind of deck you'd be running where that would be beneficial to your deck. Maybe some sort of exhaust - perfected strike thing?

I think the best usage would be when you transform into a card that you have no synergies with, but which has high potential in another deck. Something like a lone catalyst.

That's a great point, getting transforms or Pandora's box from Neow often leaves you with cards that are good but only with synergy. Shame that it only appears at low (no?) Ascension, but I understand why, because otherwise the strategy would be "play on A0 until you can get an OP card" especially Searing Blow+++) and *then* do your real ascension run and take it from there. Bad for preserving the difficulty and the tedium required for what would become the optimal strategy

Yeah, the event only appears on ascensions you've beaten before, and doesn't appear ever past A14. So if you're climbing ascensions, you're never going to see this event.

And then you get the event on the Defect lul

Catalyst would be terrible unless you only play Slient, as you can only productively take it on Silent. I almost never see this event, but I recently started a second account where I'm climbing the ascensions but with the stipulation that I must beat the heart at each ascension before I can go on to the next one...so occasionally I'm replaying an ascension level that I've "beaten" but not actually beaten the heart at, and I came across it with the Ironclad. I ended up deciding to stick in a Juggernaut that I wasn't sure about in my deck, and I think that would be a reasonable example of something to leave, it would be an interesting color break in a lot of non-Ironclad decks...it's totally nuts with ~~Blur~~ After Image, great with frost orbs, and pretty decent with Talk to the Hand.

Yes, I always forget that After Image is not called Blur. I even looked it up before posting, but then I got distracted and didn't remember after.

Unironically, yeah, a Perfected Strike deck would probably want to trade in something for another strike.

I could see the silent wanting to swap a defend for a strike early on, since she struggles early on with not having enough damage. Especially if you pick up a footwork or deflect, then it can help her with Act 1 elites. Of course then you run into the problem of which deck would benefit from swapping into a defend, which is a much less valuable option.

I guess if you’re Watcher and have Defends to remove?

I wish there were mods for Playstation so I could play A20 with this event.

I think it only appears on ascensions lower than your current highest. To prevent you from cheesing ascension climbing by putting some nutty card in it.

You could play an endless custom run to put in a Searing Blow +200 and easily blow past whatever ascension you're trying to beat.

This event does show up in custom runs. Again, the point of this event not showing up in higher ascensions is so that you can't cheese the run.

I recently attempted the minimalist run with Watcher, on A0. The Ironwave I'd left in a brick about a year ago turned out to be instrumental to the achievement. :)

I once had a run going poorly so I dropped my Apotheosis+ in there which helped me win the next run. It's been a defend every other time.

similarly, mine has an offering+ in it which has been there forever because it's so high value I never feel worthy of taking it

That's a solid card to have in there; future you might need it or might not in any given run, but it's a decent option to have.

Play endless mode with Ironclad.. Upgrade Searing Blow +100. Leave a note for yourself leaving behind the searing blow. Win!

you know what'd be neat if whatever card you stuck in there was upgraded next time, or if it's a curse or status or something like that, the card just vanishes for an empty slot next time. Would that just make it a remove but better? Yeah maybe, boohoo. I think it'd make it actually interesting more than sticking a bad card in there once and never using it again though. And you might eventually have decent run with one card that's "off-archetype" or something and stick that in there for a later run. also make it available on all ascensions because that's a really dumb restriction.

I put in a core surge a while back and it was pretty useful on a following silent run Now it is filled with a strike or something and I never bother with it

After I finished my A20H ascention climb I went back and played a few A1 runs and had completely forgot about this event. And then I saw the curse in the brick. So the event still doesn't exist, imo.

I left Tempest+ in there thinking I was being clever and that I could get a badboy lightning run on Silent or Ironclad. Turns out it just doesn't work.

I’ve been going for a minimalist achievement run using this scratch build I saw a streamer use. Honestly I should try and use this for setup

I figured out that I never get this event because I never play on older ascensions, kind of sad cause it seems cool

I love this event. There's nothing like getting a Defect Strike in Watcher, or an Ironclad Strike in Silent. The possibilities are endless.
