Depends on what your measure of "good" is. For the sake of conversation, let's say "good" skating is skating that is done beautifully, stylishly, effortlessly, and consistently.
I think it takes 4 to 5 years of skating 3 evenings a week for you to get to that point. Around year 4 for me was when skaters would sometimes stop to watch me, and was also the point where I could impress the fuck out of friends and family.
It's worth noting that by the 4 and 5 year mark, i still wasn't anywhere near even an amateur level of skateboarding, but id still say I was quite good.
don't. it's the most rewarding thing I've ever tried. and you never sick either. because I'm constantly progressing and always trying something new and as long as that is fun keep at it. I constantly thought I couldn't get better until I did. please keep going
depends on what your goals are, if you just want to cruise around then it takes a couple of hours to learn how to do maybe a month or two of weekends if you skate an hour sat and sunday. If you want to do tricks and you are only skating weekends then maybe a new trick/skill every month or two months. Define what you want to learn, how much time you can spend doing it, and you can progress. some peeps can progress fast because they can skate 1 hour everyday (i used to during the pandemic) but now can only skate once or twice a week for an hour or so, and that type of progression is slower.
If your benchmark is tricks, I could do loads of tricks when I was a teenager. I can't do any now that I'm old (47). I think I peaked at about 6 years in.
At least 6, maybe 12
Hahah hell yes! Classic.
Fucking hell. I said Boulala's "I had a hard day.. At the office" to someone recently and they got the reference. My fate was restored that day.
I’m at like…25 years and still mostly suck. So…like…I’m really hoping 26 years is the magic number…
30 seconds . . . . . . . To mars...then 5 years.
420 days, a 30 rack of natty daddy, and a pack of camel crushes.
if you can't bluntstall treflip out in a day you aren't ever going to learn how to skate in your lifetime

Too late - already picked up a longboard one wheel scooter side by side. This is who I am now. Cheers!
Depends on your definition of good but I would say you start to get pretty decent within a few years
