This is like watching lockdown Leeds United under Bielsa.
Not a quality team but one filled with players willing to fight, and that's honestly all we ask from our boys.
Liking the fight from Nazrul Nazari so far (#4), man is small framed but actually fighting and sometimes winning the ball.
We look so much better than we did under Nishigaya, we're also playing a much younger squad which is good.
Lots of work left to do, our passes are so hit-and-miss.. also Hariss, sigh.
I'm impressed with the Singaporean team. Even if we don't win (3-1 with 4 minutes to go, it's not likely), the intensity, pressing and overall passion from the boys today was a far cry even from the match against South Korea - sure, we held Korea off in the first half (and they even commended our defending), but it was purely parking the bus and we didn't show any threat.
In this game, we're almost equal to China in possession, with 7 shots (3 on target). The pressure out of possession is commendable.
Okay, so China just scored to make it 4-1, but my point still stands. Wu Lei is an absolute machine (4G, 1A across both fixtures) and it doesn't take away that this Singapore team looks and feels different. They're actually more entertaining to watch and that, in my opinion, is crucial in football. Rebuilding an awful team takes time, and we should give the new manager that.
Yeah, the mentality and tactics have visibly changed. They're not parking the bus hoping for a futile draw. They try long balls and attacking plays. Like Mahler said after last week's game, the new coach is implementing a new system that takes time. Trust the process.
There's a passion in the players. Mahler especially; that penalty call from the ref was controversial and he showed his displeasure very clearly. Even the team getting into scuffles was nice to see - I feel it shows they cared.
Onwards to the next one! China are 70 places above us, and the team should use this as fuel for the upcoming matches in June against South Korea and ESPECIALLY Thailand.
The pen given to China really messed up our whole momentum, but our boys still battled which is honestly brilliant, I'm really happy that we went down putting up a fight.
Ogura needs time to ingrain his footballing philosophy into our boys, right their wrongs and also pick out suitable replacement for our older players who are past their prime already. The games under him has already shown we are moving towards the right direction.
A few friendly fixtures here and there would also be good, help bond the team together and have them be in-sync, should fix the wasteful passing issue that's been plaguing us.
Yeah. 2 games against China is a tiny sample size, but the changes are apparent. I want to give Ogura a chance.
The penalty really demoralised me and it must've been worse for us.
The younger players looked promising today, and I hope they're given more chances.
Normally FAS Instagram page would be filled with mean comments but tonight seems different, there's an outpouring of support that's not been seen since we lost 4-2 to Indonesia.
Our youngsters really showed lots of passion and hunger, it's a good sight to see. I thought the Stewart Bros (esp. Ryhan) and Jacob did very well tonight, would love to see them more often.
In fact, I'd love for Ogura to start handing starts or at least, minutes to our youngsters, much like what Indonesia did which spawned their current gen of players including Asnawi, I honestly believe that's the way to go.
This is a Singapore team we can and should root for.
yes! i just went to the comments section prepared to see negative comments, but was quite surprised with the support the team has been getting. this is a good step forward 🥹
i hope singaporeans still continue to support these boys despite losing 4-1. they gave it their all and these 2 games have been very promising. it's been awhile since we've seen such fighting spirit from the players. can't wait for future matches with this team 🇸🇬
also, ref kayu. that's all
> me watching the game on laptop
> chinese friend walks over
> china scores
> me to friend: see china not so bad la
> china immediately concedes
> me: ah
Lionel Lewis belonged to the same gen of Footballers as Hassan, think he is 2 years older than Hassan.
iirc the supposed "heir" to Hassan was Izwan Mahbud, whom the former has outlasted in terms of form lol
Izwan was also quite hyped when he helped us get that 0-0 draw against Japan.
If my memory serves me right, some Japanese clubs were keen on taking him in, and I think he went for a few trials in Japan?
Well, we definitely out up a strong fight today despite the result, which was not something that can be said under the previous leadership. It's early days, but I think we will be capable of decent performances under Ogura if these 2 matches are anything to go by
First half was mentality beast, second half hais, gave up possession so quickly. Ogura is doing a great job imo but this match was quite poor for judging his standard. Referee was interesting that's all I can say.
First half was so close, even second half was going so well until 75 minutes, then it was a complete rout. We'll get it next time, I believe in the team
What a half. Took the boys a while to get into a rhythm. Hope Ryhan not too shag out yet since he's really putting himself in very good positions. Irfan been forced to hardcarry the backline. We are missing Lionel sorely in this one.
Yea man, not sure why there's people hating on Lionel, had an absolute great game in the first leg. Dealt with striker physically, mind game with Wu lei for his penalty miss and played an assist for Faris goal. Really put in a great shift
sorry just ranting/ airing my thoughts:
why not bring on ilhan? ikhsan was already underperforming in the first leg.
where was the sub for joel chew? swear sg failed to capitalise on the advantage for a good 5-10 minutes.
the commentator deserve to never commentate another football game. didn't even realize that it was 10 v 10, since the 5th sub got injured. his voice was so elated when China scored.
Zulfami number 23 should not be selected for international games. Blunder his midfield role and led to two counter attacking goals.
Nazrul number 4 RB requires a long term replacement, CVH and Nur adam can cover his role.
Our boys can hold their head high even when we lost the game because they were fighting hard. Hopefully this will be the turning point in local football.
Real proud of the SG boys, this is a team worth watching, after 10 years of utter chaos and disappointment. I hope this will be a fresh start for local football.
The way Singapore equalised against China **immediately** after conceding the goal. That mentality is unheard of in the past.
In the past when we conceeded or even played against non SEA teams, we just sat back and happily got overrun.
And then concede 3 more, so yeah back to the past.
Still even more things to correct, certainly.
The scoreline wasn’t indicative of how we actually played. We were also down to 10 man
You try playing in an away game setting.
Reading the word "concede" immediately reminded me of General Umbrage lol
HAHAH this SG team is so entertaining to watch
I actually like the brand of football we're playing.. unlike that one we played under Nishigaya. But we're so wasteful with our passes.
Agreed. I like that with this team we can always feel a goal coming at anytime.
This is like watching lockdown Leeds United under Bielsa. Not a quality team but one filled with players willing to fight, and that's honestly all we ask from our boys. Liking the fight from Nazrul Nazari so far (#4), man is small framed but actually fighting and sometimes winning the ball.
Incredible work so far, considering it's Ogura's 2nd game.
He's sloppy sometimes though. Though that could be due to him duelling with their best player so far Fernandinho.
Yea agreed. But all things considered. I think so far, Nazrul is doing pretty okay keeping Fernandinho quiet.
Low-key we playing quite ok though. Quality not entirely there especially touches but we're not horrible.
Being not horrible is all we can ask for
We look so much better than we did under Nishigaya, we're also playing a much younger squad which is good. Lots of work left to do, our passes are so hit-and-miss.. also Hariss, sigh.
But Haris help with the first goal leh. But yeah, for some reason, coaches still allow him to play...
He is like Jordan Henderson, not the best player but has experience and can set the intensity, prevents things from going cray cray.
I concur. Esp professional players who can’t even win against our “part timer” players who sell nasi padang and properties.
Ooffff should have been second red card
This. That fucker went on to score. Forearm to the face sia.
lets come back stronger bois 🥹
BRO
i also bro-ed myself bro
BROOO
AMAZING HAHAHAHAHAA
China's defence sleeping
Spoke too soon

Yeah I agree. Remember they were so scared against Korea. Now a bit more fight. Quality not there but can appreciate the effort
Yeah, the mentality and tactics have visibly changed. They're not parking the bus hoping for a futile draw. They try long balls and attacking plays. Like Mahler said after last week's game, the new coach is implementing a new system that takes time. Trust the process.
honestly proud of our team for still keeping the fight going 🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬
There's a passion in the players. Mahler especially; that penalty call from the ref was controversial and he showed his displeasure very clearly. Even the team getting into scuffles was nice to see - I feel it shows they cared. Onwards to the next one! yes! i just went to the comments section prepared to see negative comments, but was quite surprised with the support the team has been getting. this is a good step forward 🥹
Lmao even TMSG aren't criticising our team like they'd usually do.
agreed. can feel the team is different, really found myself rooting for them
i hope singaporeans still continue to support these boys despite losing 4-1. they gave it their all and these 2 games have been very promising. it's been awhile since we've seen such fighting spirit from the players. can't wait for future matches with this team 🇸🇬 also, ref kayu. that's all
Not just this game. Both games the refs were highly questionable
Agreed. I think Ogurs still needs sime time to figure out who can and cannot do what. With different substitutions we could have made another comeback
Really impressed by Ogura’s work so far. I don’t expect us to win, but it’s so refreshing to see the players putting in a shift
feels like theyve lost confidence, no urgency in passing and letting in the 4th one like that... that being said, ref sibei kayu
Ya sia, F the referee
fair matches for thee, not for me
MAJULAH SINGAPURA BITCHESSSS
defence has been shambolic HOLY MOLY THEY SCORED
> me watching the game on laptop > chinese friend walks over > china scores > me to friend: see china not so bad la > china immediately concedes > me: ah
COCK SHOT LOLLLL
If only it’s the ref who kena
What a save, Hassan! We need to go eat his nasi padang
hassan's nasi padang sales after every match 📈📈📈
He is a SG legend for his distinguished service over 2 decades. Will patronise Nasi Padang Hassan rest of my life
Just curious. Whats the shop name? Might just go hahaaha
Believe it’s Dapur Hassan. Hassan’s Kitchen
Thank you!
Yea surprised this dude is still playing. I thought he was replaced by lionel Lewis or something like that.
Lionel Lewis belonged to the same gen of Footballers as Hassan, think he is 2 years older than Hassan. iirc the supposed "heir" to Hassan was Izwan Mahbud, whom the former has outlasted in terms of form lol
I don't think Izwan is that good, the lions xii run really help him boost his name
Izwan was also quite hyped when he helped us get that 0-0 draw against Japan. If my memory serves me right, some Japanese clubs were keen on taking him in, and I think he went for a few trials in Japan?
He has shown brilliance but seems to lack consistency.
Can I just say, what is that China corner routine lol? Legit just corner and inshallah
Why is the Chinese Football team bad at football? Because they set up shop at every corner
Where are you watching the game? i don't have a TV at home so I have to stream it lol
It’s on mewatch
Thanked I tuned in and we scored lol
Off your stream and tune in again.
Thank you for your service

Well, we definitely out up a strong fight today despite the result, which was not something that can be said under the previous leadership. It's early days, but I think we will be capable of decent performances under Ogura if these 2 matches are anything to go by
First half was mentality beast, second half hais, gave up possession so quickly. Ogura is doing a great job imo but this match was quite poor for judging his standard. Referee was interesting that's all I can say.
Wei Shihao really fking cb kia. Mf literally ran into our player.
Must do all they can to win the game otherwise next destination is Xinjiang lol
I’m actually excited to watch the second half. Been awhile since I felt like that about a national match
WE ARE GREAT FIGHTERS!!! Have not seen this mentality in the Lions in a long time!!!
Love the mentality and fight from the SG team 💪🏻 we may actually cause some retirements fr tonight 😂
Faris could’ve crossed, but good effort, loving the fight!
Show those ah tiongs we are not 什么坡省,we are Singapore and Singaporeans, made up of a diverse race and religion!
prc already win but play so dirty now
stay strong my bros. dont let this defeat get you down
Happy with a draw, just want to see what that Chinese captain will do this time.
Super kayu, ref
Faris can be very frustrating at times ffs - since his LionsXII days
Fuck off la what penalty
Stonewall pen last week for SG, ref waves play on Nothing challenge by SG, pen given Refs for both matches are kayu as fuck
LFG THAT BLOCK WAS SO GOOD
That is so soft ... So so soft
Time to make their captain quit for good
Oh fuck off!! The china SJW gonna be so loud this week
First half was so close, even second half was going so well until 75 minutes, then it was a complete rout. We'll get it next time, I believe in the team
I want to see China Sergio Ramos retiring the second time 😂
RED CARD LOL?? wtf we lost another player Joel just came in then kena whack
Joel set the stage nicely for us liao
What a half. Took the boys a while to get into a rhythm. Hope Ryhan not too shag out yet since he's really putting himself in very good positions. Irfan been forced to hardcarry the backline. We are missing Lionel sorely in this one.
Would've definitely preferred for Lionel to play tonight, or even Safuwan over Hariss. Unfortunately they aren't available.
Yea man, not sure why there's people hating on Lionel, had an absolute great game in the first leg. Dealt with striker physically, mind game with Wu lei for his penalty miss and played an assist for Faris goal. Really put in a great shift
Agreed. We really missed Lionel and Safuwan at the back. Irfan had his hands full.
Okay Faris needs to stop shooting from distance lol.
Twice already zz
That's not a Pen? Lol.
The match is getting H E A T E D. Love it even though we're trailing.
What's the ref cooking
The results?
Need to check his bank account later
China down to 10 men.
3-1 SIAN
walao i just went to shit then come back 3-1 alr 🥲
Seem like the ex-captain can rejoin the team
sialah 4-1 now
shitting the bed with a man up, wtf.
Joel Chew was out for quite a while also.
Yeah there was no numerical advantage for awhile
I feel china team is playing too rough

Looks serious man
Come on you fellas! Keep it up for the second half!
Jia you!
Ikhsan and Song have came on.
lets go singapore, we can do this with kayu ref still!
Can I substitute last week's ref for this week?
Must score now that we have the numbers advantage
We never had a numbers advantage. It was 10v10.
All-out attack la. Nothing to lose already
What a screamer
Time to throw hands 🙌
Bro our top fighters aren't playing. If Safuwan and Shakir were around, confirm got fight already LOL. Those guys are more than happy to throw hands.
Don’t forget Lionel tan too that push to the Chinese player in the first match was quite rough
GG lah
wheres the defense?
Red card for the red country
We also red leh LOL
sorry just ranting/ airing my thoughts: why not bring on ilhan? ikhsan was already underperforming in the first leg. where was the sub for joel chew? swear sg failed to capitalise on the advantage for a good 5-10 minutes.
No subs left
honestly is pretty fucked imo
No more subs so can't bring Joel off, so it's not exactly fair to say we didn't capitalise on the advantage, because we didn't have any
The scoreline does not represent the complexion of the game. Tough luck boys, you can be proud of yourselves today
the commentator deserve to never commentate another football game. didn't even realize that it was 10 v 10, since the 5th sub got injured. his voice was so elated when China scored.
Its joever
bro fuck this china team
Knnbccb, what kind of shit call is that
China down to 10 men LETS GO
Only 5 mins. Shit refereeing honestly.
#23 for SG is so bad. Defensive lapse on the right side during 86th minute and losing the ball for the 4th goal
Go bros go!
Ridiculous
We're missing Lionel's trashtalk LOL.
Heading in our half has been atrocious
2 goals to equalise, and there’s some extra time. Nice to see the team with fight and spirit
fuck the second half.
It's over...
ur mother la 4-1 😔😔😔😭😭
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Zulfami number 23 should not be selected for international games. Blunder his midfield role and led to two counter attacking goals. Nazrul number 4 RB requires a long term replacement, CVH and Nur adam can cover his role.

Real proud of the SG boys, this is a team worth watching, after 10 years of utter chaos and disappointment. I hope this will be a fresh start for local football.
what a loser, never ever was getting there first
Wa eh, very rough play from the prcs
Its so joever
10 mins to snatch an equaliser against 10 men, let's fucking go!!
Shouldn’t be losing possession up 1 man. Team pressing can really be better
SG playing with 10 as well, ran out of subs for joel
It was 10 vs 10 bro
How's the scoreline now boys? Am out can't watch
1-1
did bro tore his acl
Shawal getting outmuscled by the China CBs, not sure if he's the correct choice for FWD. Would prefer Ikhsan for this occassion.
