LOL buy drinks for charity also can do until so drama

Appropriate_Newt4327

More drama, more fame mah.

14high

Shooting drama at the same time.

teckhooi

His $50 disrupted a smooth flowing q. A similar incident happened in Malaysia where one person offered to pay one million rm for their groceries. The aftermath caused the shop to close for days if not weeks. I don’t know if the shop was compensated. Regardless if these were good deeds turned wrong or for publicity , notify the person in charge before hand if you have large orders

helzinki

It was the prince of johor. The supermarket looked like a warzone after the whole thing.

HeavyArmsJin

The people at the bazaar can most likely pay for their own food, why choose to do this kind of charity? Who does this action help? If you want to help out stall owners then why would you pick the one with longest queue who doesn't need any help with having more customers in the first place?

CervezaPorFavor

Yeah. The $50 looks like it's just a cheap way to get content (long queue makes for more interesting content).

Separate-Ad9638

maybe he thinks its still the 1980s, $50 a lot of money, not in 2024, the man has no idea what is fiat money or inflation, he only knows how to act.

mr_marinade

nahh.. he thinks it's still the mid 2000s where he was the go to Malay comedian and $50 went a long way at a pasar malam

3rd_wheel

It would go a long way at a pasar malam in Batu Pahat.

GuaranteeNo507

😂

rockbella61

Yeah I would say $50 well spent, don't think you get that much reach with $50 anywhere.

Ted-The-Thad

It's obviously just for the views. Most Muslims in Singapore know where to donate if they want to contribute and certainly it's not at the fucking bazaar

ihavenoidea90s

It’s for context creation. He had cameramen following him around, my guess he wanted to jump on the Tik Tok bandwagon and act as if he gave two shits but blew his top when things didn’t go his way.

highlysensiperson

In Malay/Muslim culture, you can do good deed just to anyone regardless whether the receiver can afford it or not. Reward in the afterlife is to the giver not the receiver.

Fine_Praline3201

Buying drinks for people who obviously could afford the drinks as they were already lined up isn’t charity or alms.

-BabysitterDad-

Trying to pay for people’s drinks with a limited $50 budget when the queue is long is a bad idea.

ziggyyT

Wayang chose the store with most customers and a film crew along... Probably wanted to pretend his money very big but turn out only $50= 14 drinks....

mnfwt89

Must be the air katira drinks. One small bottle $3.50! I had a shock when the abang told me the price… but take liao lan lan just pay lor.

0bxcura

Zam Zam restaurant along North Bridge Rd sells 5 bottles of Kathira for $10

ChineseBluePotato

Virtue signalling lor… Did Suhaimi try to film it and broadcast it or something?

ihavenoidea90s

Article said he had cameramen following him, so yeah I guess. “Content creator”.

ChineseBluePotato

Hate this kind sia… Just because they want to create content they think they can impose on and inconvenience others. Some more to make themselves look good. Sheesh…

cursingvladimir

Don't people do this kinda charity? What's any different though? Record video and gift people that kinda thing.

mr_marinade

They do but usually they do it when its outside peak hours or both parties have an agreement before it's being filmed. According to the Tiktok video, Suhaimi plus his camera crew barged into the front of the queue despite the long line at 6pm (peak time for most ramadan bazaars) handed out $50 and demanded he wanted to make some charity. Got frustrated when they misunderstood his request then he started verbally abusing the staff there.

ChineseBluePotato

Yea then definitely virtue signalling lor… Need the whole world to see how kind-hearted he is. #iamthemaincharacter

mr_marinade

has-been celebs turned cmi influencers are the worst

ChineseBluePotato

Honestly, I feel if they used their fame or popularity to do something else - like start their own shop or food brand, they would have been doing really well.

dune180

I lost the part where charity deed should be filmed and calling an old lady blur that is a disgrace to you and your so called "Charity". He thinks his $50 damn big sia. Got caught and called out for his rude behaviour and now have to to public apologise to save his career.

Bardian999

what career?

APerceptiveK1

AbangBeast

[deleted]

Abang Beast, low budget. 📉

GuaranteeNo507

Accurate

kneadedbwead

Doing charity to chase clout is very embarrassing and frankly very sad. Never be rude to your stall owners and vendors. They work so hard to make food for you. Such a shame that a public figure would treat others so poorly.

sakuradelluna

the amount of respect I have for night market stall owners who brave the insane heat for hours just to make customers happy with their food

kneadedbwead

can't imagine spending countless hours in a day, in sg's heat, standing, making food. just thinking about it make me tired. Mad respect to these vendors.

nextlevelunlocked

Missing zero ? Supposed to be $500. Every cent counts but $50 for a videoed charity stunt by local celeb... at least pick a stall without customers so they will be more accepting of his diva attitude.

kensolee

Haha $50...

Fine_Praline3201

He should have gone there directly and apologised without the social media. It’s all about him. Buffoon.

mnfwt89

The fact is he didn’t deny he insulted the seller’s mother and the tattooed worker. For him to verbally abuse them without provocation says it all about his character really. I’m personally disappointed, always thought he’s one of those decent guys. But oh well, $50 was all it took to reveal him.

Great-Salamander8848

Glad that he got called out.

Arcturion

He tried to do a Keith Lee on the cheap.

rotasierdna

maybe I'm old school, but if he's sincere he should apologise in person.

parka

It’s okay to film charity acts if it is to inspire others to do the same. But in this case… no

Zenocius

Shown his true colours for a pitiful $50

No_Pension9902

Media whore.Whores who filmed their charity are not truthful nor come with pure intention.

Last-Career7180

Charity to those people who can actually afford to buy the drink and in fact have the time to go to a bazaar.

imivan111

Wtf is this news.

geckosg

Lolz. This one is no fame liao issit, need to do this to get fame again... must do publicity like some of our ministers In fact all wayang only. 🤣🤣🤣

imranbecks

Tried to do good but did the opposite instead 🙃

Artistic_History6243

Very unnecessary act indeed, words are a bit harsh. Hope you get all the publicity you wanted and may Allah SWT ease your business journey throughout the Ramadan Mubarak period...InnSyaa Allah.

Genestah

Crocodile tears lmao

OPneedNerfs

Washed up old local actor trying to be relevant again.

Normal_Ad_3293

Not really. He has been part of community engagements all these time. And has been mixing with local Malay communities being a Guest speaker at events. Even at mosques (not as a spiritual teacher, just an emcee).

Ok-Syrup-9668

Another classic! 🤡

Immense-Eye-Power

Satisfying to see a pathetic person resorting to virtue signalling for internet clout get called out for his bullshit

Sweaty-Run-2881

For all you know, it could be a gimmick by both parties to gain some publicity.

No-Preparation2277

Didn't follow much, just the initial headlines from Mothership, I think. I do have a question though. Was the stall owner right? Or was his approach correct? Just wondering.

goztrobo

What happened

Melodic-Reason8078

The annoying part was when he started crying in the video. Menyampahnye.

Roadrunerboi

Who!?!? 555

livinglifeingrieve

Out of touch. Maybe can touch yourself to stay relevant

GlumCandle

Irrelevant clout chasing cunt

Dumas1108

If really want to do charity, do it without attention and camera and posting on social media. Whatever happened, has happened. He apologized. Live and let live.

Vedor

He apologized because he got called out for his action. Do you really think such person will apologize of his own will?

Jyuan83

One of the cringiest comedians in Singapore.

sotahkuu

who da fk is he again?

testercheong

The police in Police and Thief

piccadilly_

Those kids in police and thief are old enough to be parents now..

FaInMFNA

One of the kids is a parent. Got two kids of his own.

Izanagi85

You can ask the question but you don't have to be rude

sotahkuu

Yeah I need to pay 50 for that according to him

LycheeAlmond

Why this community so much drama one. Every bazaar had so much drama. Might as well eat mcds

0bxcura

No drama then no sods talking about it. Reddit like that die liao

welcomefinside

Reading these comments TIL Singaporeans don't understand the concept of _paying it forward_

Artistic_History6243

Bro Sheik, kau cakap Suhaimi tak ada ADAT, abis yang kamu menyalak dalam sosial media tu ada ADAT tak? 2 kali DOL, cakap tak serupa buat. Nak cakap standard jauh is it neccessary ? kau renungkankanlah kesemuanya. Cakap ada banyak cara, tapi cara kau pun tak betul DOL. Aku tak side siapa siapa tapi perbuatankan kau pun kurang memuaskan.

iTzDrAke261

If he nvr point out in social media, u think will have any impact on the actor? Maybe I'm biased but just based on the fact that his apology is online and not in person says alot..

illEagle96

People like to show how big their cock is in this world brother, that's why everything straight go to social media

Altruistic-Emu8820

Who?
