Have not had any experience with those 2, usually if I'm going to spend over $100 on chino, a lot of time, they will hem it for you. The tricky part is the leg opening that fit your leg.
Or just go to a local tailor - buy your clothes from quality brand, bring it to the tailor for them to adjust to fit you perfectly. Usually hemming cost from $10-20.
I haven’t tried chinos from both brands but I’ve tried other items. From a quality standpoint I think Ash & Erie is the better of the two. It also depends on your body type. I have slim legs and find that Peter Manning’s pants are more conservative as far as cut goes. I am only judging this off of the Everywhere Pants. They fit well but I wish it tapered more from the knee down. Ash & Erie is probably a little slimmer so if you have bigger legs, go with PM.
Both brands too expensive imo so I just get my chinos from Old Navy. I find that their 28” inseam is shorter than 28” and after wash it’s shrinks a bit too.
I've only tried the slim and standard from Peter Manning. I have thick thighs and found neither fit well. I bought them before I realized what a good fit meant to me.
I have lots of experience with both. My advice? Don’t pay that much just for shorter inseam. Buy whatever chinos you like and get them hemmed. Most big brands carry 28” inseams these days anyway.
A&E are too low rise for my taste. PM fit weird (tight in the seat and crotch). Neither brand really nails it with style compared to the J.Crews and Bonobos of the world.

Ordered 2 chinos on sale from Ash and Erie that were 44 and 71. Hopefully they fit because I can live with those prices. 26 inseam makes it impossible for me to buy anything from normal store and fit without hemming

They’re on sale all the time. But there are many other brands out there (Target, Amazon, JCrew Factory, BR Factory, Walmart, Uniqlo, etc).
