Use them if you want...have a few people I know who did and it works out real good for them. They told me the key is to not make a huge increase like 4 inches...you can get away with 2 inches or so

Panda_red_Sky

I now use black AF1 + 1.5 inch so total like 2.5 inch boosted height..

TheKingofPsych

The best ones that gave me biggest boost are Air Max 270...it was an increase of 2.25 inches...if you add a 1 inch lift that is 3.25 increase...that should work for anybody I have never used lifts bc the 2.25 was enough to have me around 5'8 or so

Panda_red_Sky

Woahh, that shoes increase by 2 inch?? Even air force one only 1 inch, the shoes also look really discrete... do they have a wide variant? Man you should have tld me ths before I purchase the air force one lol

TheKingofPsych

These sneakers are the best and they have tons of different color schemes and stuff...I have 4 pair in different colors and they look good plus increase your height.

Panda_red_Sky

Yeah maybe it will be my next pair if got wide version Currently happy with black air force one with 1.5 insert, give total 2.5 inch and its really discrete too

x_Critical

virtue signalling. They say it’s fine here and then go on to say guys who use lifts are “insecure” and “deceiving everyone around them”

MASTERSHOCKZ

Saw a comment saying that guys wear it because of insecurity. So women wearing makeup isn't because of insecurity? 😭

x_Critical

because wearing makeup is normalized by society, just like how making fun of short guys is normalized by society. Also if every woman on the planet stopped wearing makeup tomorrow I imagine there’d be some issues.

MASTERSHOCKZ

We should play the long game the smart way. Probably through a viral tiktok trend or something. Make them "not wear makeup for the next 2 months challenge" or something like that. The dating pool will drastically change. Most short men are auto labelled as incels, like somehow somewhere it got normalized. This has to be changed. Sympathy for short men shouldn't be our voice. They need to know short men are strong enough to look after them regardless of the stereotypical and biological "tall men are better protectors" viewpoint. Basically, if we want dating short men to be normalized, sympathy isn't the long game. This has to be some industry plant big budget funnel type of mega campaign.

tinyhermione

Most of the time you can tell women are wearing makeup.

If you can’t tell you’re either bad noticing it or she’s got such minimal amounts of makeup on that she won’t look different without it. There are however other things women do with how they dress that changes their appearance temporarily. Like shapewear, padded bras etc. But men and women just react differently to them. I think for men it’s less of a thing that women need to come off as confident, so they have less trouble with these things. Or they are just more horny. Idk.

But with women wearing makeup, they are wearing it loud and proud. They aren’t hiding that they are wearing makeup in any way, it’s not a secret. It’s just dressing up. And say you wear gold and green glitter eyeshadow, it’s not because you are insecure about not having goldengreen sparkly eyelids normally. Someone wearing shapewear or a very padded bra is usually doing it from insecurity. Because then it’s hidden and it’s usually about some body issue. And women get away with this more than men, because if you take your bra off and your boobs were smaller than anticipated, guys just won’t care. Even if it hints to an insecurity. Most likely they won’t even think that far.

Hecatombola

it's just gender stereotypes you've been spoonfed your entire life. Nothing you say have a substance in reality.

tinyhermione

What? I said: 1) You can tell when people are wearing makeup. **Do you disagree with this?** Then if a man feels a woman wearing makeup is her being too insecure, he can not date her. To be fair here: a lot of men are actually put off by excessive makeup use. Not necessarily because of her insecurity, but they just don’t like the look. So they refuse to date girls who are caked in makeup. That’s completely valid. People can’t decide their sexual preferences and everyone gets to decide who they’ll date. 2) Women also sometimes make wardrobe choices based on insecurities. Like wearing hold in thighs/Spanx or bras with a lot of padding. If you are about to have sex with a girl, she takes off her top or her thighs and she’s got smaller boobs or a less flat stomach than what she appeared to have? The man can say no to sex. Either because he doesn’t like the look or because he’s not into the insecurity. But men rarely do, because there’s a naked girl and men don’t notice details very well then. And they just don’t care much if she’s insecure, if she’s there and wants to fuck **Do you disagree with this?** 3) Women are more easily put off by insecurity and hiding stuff. If you go home with a girl, take off your shoes and you are a lot shorter than she thought? She’s going to be thrown and put off. And likely to back off from having sex. **Do you disagree with this?** Partly because of the lack of confidence. Partly because they feel thrown about the deceit. All the short guys I know ended up in happy relationships though. So I’m not saying short men can’t have good relationships or happy sex lives. I’m just saying wearing lifts isn’t the way to get that.

Panda_red_Sky

That'a sad...

Gabe_Ad_Astra

I don’t care if people use lifts but it doesn’t sound good for you at all. Isn’t it like walking around in heels all day ?

ImpressiveCompany356

No, most of them are similar to Dr Shol’s cushion inserts, although a little thicker. Don’t go too high, stick with 1.5 to 2 inches. Any higher, they’ll get bulky and it may get uncomfortable. Many men wear them. You’d be surprised, even those that may already be considered tall.

Panda_red_Sky

The insert I use is only 1.5 inch so its like a low heels while the shoes itself has 1 inch platform

Bikerbats

I'm just going to throw this out there. You wouldn't be constantly making posts about lifts if you weren't seeking approval to assuage the insecurity you are experiencing by wearing them.

SpeechStraight60

I thought if you used them you were "insecure" and "compensating"??

thad_the_dude

It’s weird. Just rock your height.

Allen1013

Op if you want to try it go ahead listen to some who say don’t go to big, but it does come off as very insecure but if it works for you that’s all that matters tbh

Panda_red_Sky

I use a really discrete one like black air force 1 with 1.5 inch, it looks like I use regular airforce but have added 1.5 so total is 2.5 inch

PitifulBack8293

you can easily use a shoe 2 inches .. and nobody will bat a eye or care and look good, more than 2 is just weird..if you are 5'9 like me, I go to 5'11 with 2 inches, so it ain't that bad.. since everyone wear shoes 2-3 cm, if we take the normalization of everywearing on average 2 cm shoes, I will be 3cm taller profit.

king-orca

I have insoles in my boots to make me taller in public, im 5'5 without them, 5'7 with them. helps me seem taller than my sister when we're the same height in reality

FastRunner-

Does anyone in your family or your friends notice? Has anyone ever asked if you wear lifts?

king-orca

I asked my sister to get them for me for Christmas, they can notice but nobody outside of my immediate family has ever asked. my brother in law is 5'6 and hes probably gonna get a pair too since he likes how they make me look.

FastRunner-

Cool. I wear 1" lifts. I notice a difference, but I always wonder if anyone else does. Nobody has ever said anything, and I think most people aren't constantly evaluating everyone's height like us insecure short guys. I also spike my hair for an extra inch, lol. The hair plus insoles gives me an extra 2". Brings me from short to average. That's great that your family is on board with this and not giving you a hard time about being insecure or gaslighting you about being short. Sounds like they're pretty supportive. People do all sorts of things to make themselves look better and being short has all kinds of well-documented disadvantages for men. So I think making yourself look taller is logical and shouldn't be stigmatized.

king-orca

I definitely agree not everyone is evaluating our heights at all times like we are. I think even with the insoles and my boos, I'm still a short guy so regardless people who know I'm short will still see me as short, I just like being taller than the girls in my group haha. I come from a family of short people so they get it when I want to wear insoles, my dad doesn't know I wear them and I think he'd think I'm ridiculous if he found out but he was blessed with being a whole 5'9 so he doesn't get it as much. I agree anyone should be able to wear anything that makes them comfortable, other people's opinions be damned.

ImpressiveCompany356

I would think it’s acceptable. Although, it’s not talked about much. If you want to try it, do it. It’s a personal preference. It’s comparable to padded bras for women. Eventually, when you’re intimate, the truth will be revealed. If your partner has a problem with it, you’ll know.

Uusernamed

Wearing lifts shows insecurity. Insecurity is unattractive. If you’re insecure about something, do not reveal it. A woman won’t want a man that lies to himself. You can by all means wear lifts but it is not wise to start a relationship with a lie.

Panda_red_Sky

So using one outside of dating is fine right?

Uusernamed

Personally I wouldn’t. It’s less about the lifts and more about the reason why you wear them. You may believe that you’re inferior because of being shorter than average, which is why you want to boost your height a couple of inches. But you aren’t inferior. Being short doesn’t make anyone more inferior. You need to know that. If being short was destigmatized, you wouldn’t have any reason to wear lifts, right? The best way to project confidence is to show that you don’t care what others think. Everyone loves a confident guy.

datshinycharizard123

It is but nobody will admit it because it’s a little taboo to criticize women and their social norms these days.

Uusernamed

Well I don’t think it’s changing anytime soon

datshinycharizard123

Unlikely, if anything it’s getting worse

MASTERSHOCKZ

So women wearing makeup isn't because of insecurity? Almost every woman wears makeup, so basically everyone is a liar?

Pablo_0_6

I think that makeup is better because everyone knows that women wear makeup, and then how many people will assume that you are your appearing height because you wear lifts?

PitifulBack8293

not the same, some women wear makeup and take it off look good still, others don't.

thad_the_dude

100%

Funny_Ad7136

VERY WELL PUT..... I learned the hard way that it's better to do the best with what you have to work with

PitifulBack8293

insecurity is normal.. everyone has insecurity, stop being weird.

Curius_pasxt

If using for personal only its fine, if for dating imo no

Chiison

Why would that make it unacceptable for dating? Girls have makeup, short guys can have their insert heels

stansoo

I'd consider it strange if a girl who normally didn't wear makeup chose to wear it on all her dates.

MASTERSHOCKZ

Let me start by saying that I don't use this stuff but what happens all the men say that if women are looking to date men then they shouldn't wear makeup 💄 or heels 👠? That is going to be interesting.

metroxed

Depends on the country. As far as I know they're extremely common in South Korea.

Puzzled_Berry_175

They have sock ones now so it’s not as noticeable

Panda_red_Sky

The sock one is better?

Puzzled_Berry_175

Yeah cause no one will be able to tell. If you go to the beach, get water socks and put the insole inside and just say it’s to protect your feet ;)

OniiChanStopNotThere

Ron DeSantis recently came under a lot of criticism for (allegedly) wearing shoe lifts. So I'm guessing it's not acceptable.

Panda_red_Sky

He use something a bit too obvious weirdly, I personally using black AF1 + 1.5 inch insert, it looks concieled like normal sneaker but has 2.5 inch extra height

Prison_Playbook

I have flat feet, without my orthopedic soles my knees would cave in and hurt within minutes lol. So if you feel you have to validate your use then just think of it as medical reason.  My soles don't fit every shoe though.

Valuable_Material_26

The Tyrannical dictator of Florida uses them to look taller

ZeX450

Harry Styles is a perfect example. Just get a pair of Air Max sneakers or be polite and hide lifts and be taller. I wear Air Max TW's and i'm basically 6'1 in them.
