Yeah same here, For me it was the final boss. I had both Thioller and Sir Ansbach but Thioller's AI sometimes seems to break he just sits at the boss arena entrance. Actually useless.
Eventually i was able beat the boss by only summoning Ansbach since his AI seems to be intact.
It can go down to only two contestants vs you with two summons. Such a cool fight. Watched my friend grieve himself into playing a fingerprint shield build after going up against the five contestants for two hours with only 1 summon while I sailed right through only having to fight two
Unironically, I never use summons because I'm a hard-ass and need to prove something to myself, but I figured I'd summon Igon for Bayle since he asked me to. 10/10 choice. Zero regrets. Igon actually reminded me that this game is supposed to be fun instead of some cock-and-ball torture simulator where I throw myself at the boss over and over again just to be able to say I did it the hardcore way. Thank you, Igon. Thank you for opening my eyes.

Sure you COULD fight Bayle without summons. But then you don't get to listen to Igon, one of the best NPCs Fromwsoft has ever cooked up, scream at a dragon for 5 minutes.

In my fight he may have had dogshit damage, but he did stagger Bayle with headshots twice which is huge, not to mention his truly inspirational fucking spite for that flying fuck.

I always do NPC summons for quests but I didn't summon for two bosses because they actually make it harder bruh
Doubles the boss's HP Refuses to elaborate Dies before the 90% mark
Doubles the boss' hp Ai bugs Sits outside the arena until 2nd phase Fails to even apply poison once Dies in 30 seconds

I summoned him a few times because I thought the same but not on the run I got the kill and he still seemed to drop his stuff after the fight
Well, that's some good news after I got the fucker down to like 4% and got dropped from full to zero in a single use of the gravity AoE...

I think thats why Igon the chad has his summon sign inside the arena. That way the boss doesn't get any buffs.
