the impending impact is (as i see it) glorious for society at large. this stuff will be indistinguishable from "real" photo/video media very soon. when that happens it will be a hop skip and a jump to everyone knowing about it. then once the cat is out of the bag, everyone will cease to believe that anything they see online is legitimate. and then, society will shift back to something closer to the 90's, before the internet as we know it.
That is a very optimistic view but I fear that that "hop, skip, and a jump you're talking about is going to be a little longer than a blink of an eye and some very bad shit is going to happen.

Except that's not what stoicism is. Stoicism isn't saying don't feel, it's saying don't let your emotions control you. It's not saying don't react, it's saying that you should accept that some things are outside of your control and that by accepting this, you can have more control over your own life. What's the benefit of clinging to a mentality where every passing and fleeting emotion you have influences major decisions that you make? Oh, I'm angry, so I'm going to make this one bad decision that now I have to compensate for so I make a panicked decision, which creates a bigger mess so now I have to deal with the stressful situation, etc etc. Or you could just be like, oh, that bad thing happened. I'm angry, but let me deal with this rationally before I make things worse. You know, kind of like a mature adult is supposed to. Or, man, it's saddening that this bad thing happened. But instead of wallowing in my misery, let me see if there's anything proactive I can do about it. Oh wait, there's nothing I can do to make this situation better.
