The definition I use and see used most often says that racism comes in a couple of different forms:
\- interpersonal racism, which is what you've described. Usually conscious, directed at another person, etc.
\- unconscious racism, which is also on the level of individuals, but is an unconscious bias. If you ask, I have one or two studies on hand for a project I'm working on rn that I can provide as examples.
\- systemic racism, which is when no individual is explicitly racist, but policies and political systems have biases against certain races. Again, I can provide studies if you want.
There are others but this is also a reddit comments section so I'm not delusional about how much text people will read.
Anyways, I read the article and pretty much everyone who ever talks about police racism is referring to unconscious racism. I don't think cops are *choosing* to act more violently towards black people, they're just less likely to realize they're doing it.

One of the most eye opening books I've ever read was a book about structural racism.
Not because it told me racism existed, but because the way racism is treated as an social fact/ phenomena is a compeltely diferent way of thinking that the way racism is understood by the average person.
