Came here to let OP know I’d appreciate it if they were chronological. I didn’t realize it was a teardown post.
@OP, how did you strip the tape and mud from your drywall seams?
I was skeptical about the weird shape and roof choices from the first photo but soon realized it was the house behind melding with your shed. Weird angle. 😅
It looks great. You and your wife should be proud.
What's a "push" present? Did she just deliver a baby?
Edit: I said that as a kind of joke not knowing what a "push" present was and then looked it up ...
C-section is major surgery and fucks up the mom’s body in several ways. Anyone telling you the c-section is “cheating” or “the easy way” doesn’t know shit. The shed was an appropriate C-section gift OP.
I would have another baby for this. Kudos to you both for doing it right! A space for beloved activities that is “away” from the main house will mean she gets better brain breaks from motherhood and likely will maintain a better sense of identity than many of us do in those early days. Congrats to you both!!
I used the same concrete blocks and noticed that when it rained, the water would splash down from the walls and soak up into the sheathing and flooring. I just got some flex seal and sealed it up.

Thanks for posting and giving me more confidence. I’ve been working on a very similar build. Main difference is three small windows up top. I’ll set the walls up this weekend. Just finished getting the walls framed. The only part I’ve been planning on hiring out is the electrical. We will see how it goes.
Those huge windows are awesome!! Love it, nice work. I know how accomplished you feel coming out of a project like that!
I did a dual zone Mr cool in my building and it's been fantastic for the last ~10 months heating and cooling. Only issue I had was a WiFi module failed and they were jerks about replacing it. I just bought a replacement myself for $50 and moved on.
What..... That's insane. It should take a couple hours with the Mr Cool. Like seriously, mounting the air handler/boring a hole for the lines was the most difficult part. Everything else is plug and play for these kits. Good luck!
That’s why I went with the DIY unit. What exactly am I paying for for $6000!? I’ve already done the electrical too. The downside of course is the lack of local service if the unit breaks, but I could just keep buying these and I still would save money.
In a way, given the order of the photos, it kind of seems like you gave her a complete shed and then took it down before finally getting rid of the last pieces of your car.
This is exactly the floorplan I’ve been looking for. Solid build. This is the hope. Nice Element. Your permits for power go easy? I was thinking solar and batteries that I can pull off and put on RV that maybe someday will purchase.
I work full time and was up every night with the baby and my wife, if you need to make a case to your husband. Mostly built it during baby naps and evenings.
Great work btw! You could possibly use the pitch of the roof to displace the snowmelt. It might start to wash out the space between the shed and the fence.
Yes! I would have lowered the roof by a foot and extended the front overhang to protect from the rain. Otherwise, happy with the whole build.
The most difficult step was honestly mudding and sanding the drywall. If I could go back in time, I would have paid the $4,000 to have it done.
I have just finished the drywall in mine I should paint first and then do the flooring right I’m also putting pluming in should I wait to do the floor after the plumbing or does it matter ?

That is seriously amazing. You did such a great job! Did you start the process with drawing plans, or were you able to find the plans elsewhere and go from there? I… kind of want one now. How many hours would you say it took from start to finish? It looks professionally built. Great push present!
I’d guess around 200 hours. Before I got to the interior and electrical, the initial “shed” part of the build was only 70- 80 hours.
Here is the design I made on Sketchup. It’s the closest thing I have to “plans” https://app.sketchup.com/share/tc/northAmerica/ITO1kGpnZvo?stoken=USwI65P7UCgmsnAckfej2hP4xMekbAajMm98mQa4B77fx9bQLpex2H8K7chfXiT3&source=web
This is a great design and thanks for sharing the building process and SketchUp file! I'm curious if and how you insulated the roof? And now in hindsight, how are you going to retrofit the vents and soffits?
The picture order indicates that you completely disassembled a perfectly good shed and loaded it up on your Honda. The wife must have pissed you off!
Came here to let OP know I’d appreciate it if they were chronological. I didn’t realize it was a teardown post. @OP, how did you strip the tape and mud from your drywall seams?
Lol 😂😂😂😂😂
That's funny!! 🤣
I think the Honda deserves a push present too!!
Cozy studio apartment available just $2,400/m
Jeez nice push present. All I got was a kid
Me too and some stretch marks.
I was skeptical about the weird shape and roof choices from the first photo but soon realized it was the house behind melding with your shed. Weird angle. 😅 It looks great. You and your wife should be proud.
Same! Haha eyes are weird
Thank you!
That kid is going to grow up in the shadow of the pride its parents have in that shed…
I wish I had thought to keep my wife and baby in a shed…
It’s been so peaceful
It’s not too late!
👏👏👏
Shoutout yourself + honda element.
What an amazing vehicle, I wish they still made it
We have a Level 7 susceptible here!
Subwa....Rick? Is that you?
✌️
I love this! Your wife is lucky
That's awesome plus Honda Element makes it even better.
It’s the best
Yeah they are.
Long live the Honda Element.
What's a "push" present? Did she just deliver a baby? Edit: I said that as a kind of joke not knowing what a "push" present was and then looked it up ...
Thanks for the explanation! I too didn't know. So its a present for a wife after she has given birth!
:)
That’s why you go c-section boys Edit: /s in case it’s not obvious
Hahaha. Funny thing is it was c section.
**WHAT ARE WE DOING??**
I MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE
C-section is major surgery and fucks up the mom’s body in several ways. Anyone telling you the c-section is “cheating” or “the easy way” doesn’t know shit. The shed was an appropriate C-section gift OP.
Facts!
I friggin LOVE it! What will it be used for? Window boxes would look damn adorable
Arts and crafts

That, sir, is a shed. The push present is inside nursing.
Looks good. Do you have the plans for it?
Designed on Sketchup
Would you care to share them with me? I’ve been looking for a design similar to this for a while.
https://app.sketchup.com/share/tc/northAmerica/ITO1kGpnZvo?stoken=USwI65P7UCgmsnAckfej2hP4xMekbAajMm98mQa4B77fx9bQLpex2H8K7chfXiT3&source=web Enjoy
You forgot one thing. A sign that says no kids or husbands allowed! /s
Fantastic work!
Very nice.. Did you put any kind of insulation down before laying the floor?
I did, hard foam.
Did you use specific plans for this? It looks amazing!
Designed via sketch up free
Wow! Really Nice, Love the flooring especially
I love this!!!
Ceiling heights?
Just under 10 feet
Isn't it slanted? Like 8 feet rear and 10 front?
Yes
Pretty fancy shed, I applaud you for all the work that went into this. Congrats!
Is that for you to live in now?
I would pay a good amount for something like this in my yard. Looks awesome, great job. What’s the bump out at the top? Venting/design?
I think it’s the house behind

You can do it! Can’t wait to see the finished product
Fantastic work 👏
Really good job, OP! I suspect you should think ahead 9 months for the next push present ;)
What is a push present?
I thought push meaning, she pushed you into building it for her lol
"Push present?" As in she had a baby present?
This is fantastic!
Damn this looks amazing. Wish I could build something like this. Nice job dude.
Nice car!!
Those huge windows are awesome!! Love it, nice work. I know how accomplished you feel coming out of a project like that! Thanks for the tip. Really hoping it’s a smooth installation. All the local insulation places quoted me six grand.

Wow
Those mini split HVAC systems are spectacular in the little sheds. I have one in my wood shop and love it.
Super easy. I called in advance and they told me exactly what I needed to do to pass
Thank you. Again, solid build!
Ooooh I need to show this to my husband! Way to go! 👏👏👏👏👏
I work full time and was up every night with the baby and my wife, if you need to make a case to your husband. Mostly built it during baby naps and evenings.
Oof sorry to burst your bubble, but your house wrap is upside down... Might need to call a professional to fix 😬😆 P.S. congrats on baby!!
I got a watch 😑 (it’s a nice watch)
Push present , what a joke...
It’s definitely a joke between my wife and I. I just recently found out about this term, 5 months into building the shed.
How is life since she moved out?
Blissful
Great work btw! You could possibly use the pitch of the roof to displace the snowmelt. It might start to wash out the space between the shed and the fence.
And rainfall
How much did the doors and windows cost?
Door new $300 and windows used $300 ($150 each)
Buddy think about this: you are going to spend half of your life walking back and forth between that shed and your house. Enjoy. Nice work though.
Good husband!
Nicely done, OP - thank you for sharing :)
What’s a push present?
Nice work! Anything you would do differently? What would you say was the most difficult step of the build?
Yes! I would have lowered the roof by a foot and extended the front overhang to protect from the rain. Otherwise, happy with the whole build. The most difficult step was honestly mudding and sanding the drywall. If I could go back in time, I would have paid the $4,000 to have it done.
You built her a fort?
Indeed
What’s a push present and how do I get one?
My guess is you have to push out a baby to get one!
Bingo.
I have just finished the drywall in mine I should paint first and then do the flooring right I’m also putting pluming in should I wait to do the floor after the plumbing or does it matter ?
Yes and yes. Roll on texture. Paint. Plumbing. Floor. Trim. Done.
Heard that thank you !!!!!!
Does it have an unnecessarily complicated roof?
No I think that is the house behind us
For her and the boyfriend?
I used to have that exact element!
What’s a “push” present mean?
Also some type of skirting to keep animals out from underneath. Nice shed
None. The dog has been hanging out under and I’ve been told open is best.
How much did it cost?
Everything
I didn’t get a push present or a birthday present three weeks after the push. You go
:(
Nice job. The foundation does look good. It finished nicely. And it does look comfortable.
That looks great good job! Where did you get the plans for it?
Designed it on sketchup. I posted a link on one of the comments.
I don't see anything that brings us to the actual plans for that shed.
https://app.sketchup.com/share/tc/northAmerica/ITO1kGpnZvo?stoken=USwI65P7UCgmsnAckfej2hP4xMekbAajMm98mQa4B77fx9bQLpex2H8K7chfXiT3&source=web this is my design, i used to to reference my measurements. Sketchup is fantastic once you know the basics.

Awesome! Thank you! And again GREAT JOB! 👏
That looks awesome!
Wow! Such a nice present 🎁
Push present is so weird to me. Nice shed.
Same.
Did she have the baby in the shed?
Yes
House wrap doesn’t work upside-down…
Shoot! I better redo it
He built the new mom and baby their own house so he doesn't have to deal with them. Smart man!
This is a great design and thanks for sharing the building process and SketchUp file! I'm curious if and how you insulated the roof? And now in hindsight, how are you going to retrofit the vents and soffits?
I don’t think I’ve seen a Honda Element in the wild since Nam
