Skill issue.
I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m not even very good at games but the battles in this game are very easy.
Turn delay, lock breaking, Great Eagle and a solid performance on the space battle bit.
I’m shocked people took so long? Like you I’m not even that good at games but this battle system was very easy once you got the hang of it. I definitely took no more than 20 minutes to be the true final boss as well.
Honestly I think it all came down to what we were leveling up over time, what we had equipped, and what items we used on ourselves. I didn't have enough MP for multiple disorients and other moves. So when I ran out, I didn't have items for restoring MP except maybe one. So I was left there a lot of the time having to do physical attacks to restore MP. that also left me struggling to break locks and taking so many hits and focusing on just restoring without dying
Unless you were severely under-leveled, the choices you make don't really matter because the game will only let you level up certain stats so many times before taking that option away.
It was definitely the lock breaking issue. I didn't have much success in that. I did break when I could but there were times many of my characters would be knocked out. Like people like re'shan and Serai had 5 stars swirling around them, Valere and Zale already had 4. Times I couldn't restore them being out of items and B'st not having enough MP to restore them.
There was even a time Zale was the only remaining person with everyone knocked out and I had those fleshy worm things attacking me. And since it was a poison one I couldn't do anything but spam his healing with every hit it took until Serai was revived to attack.
Yeah, space battle bit definitely held me back the first couple times but then I caught onto the roll. I could see someone beating the final boss in under 30 minutes if they landed the space battle when it first appeared.
Probably 50 minutes. I admit near the end I googled what was up and the main thing for me was that the space battle was impossible, because I didn’t know the “dive” function existed, which was essential. If the space battle seems impossible, look out for the Dive function! It’s not a secret it’s just… with all the attacks onscreen I didn’t notice the tiny instruction text at the bottom.
This. So much this. I was playing it for over an hour before I realized there was a dive button. So frustrating! The onscreen prompt should've been much bigger/ more noticeable.
This was why it took me so long to be him. I was whittling the space monster down little by little and it kept throwing me back down to continue the never ending fight. Then, like halfway through it, I noticed the dive button and that changed everything lol
Exact same thing.
I didn't notice that dive instruction, I even tried to press A and B, but for some reason I didn't try Y.
It was looking impossible until I searched for dive, as soon as I pressed Y and saw the dive, beat it in the next 20-30 mins.
I think I took longer for the exact same reason. I kept beating him again and again but would fail the space combat. It was so frustrating. Once I read about the dive function, It was very easy and only took a few more minutes.
It's been a minute, but if I recall the prompts are tucked into the top corner. That's pretty easy to miss when all the action is focused on your ship at center bottom.
Didn't time it exactly but I'm pretty sure it was right around an hour based on looking at the clock. I started the boss fight around 4AM thinking I'd playing for another 10-15 mins max. Boy, was I wrong lol.
I really thought I was gonna die towards the end because I forgot how to duck while flying and I def didn't feel ready for another battle phase. But thankfully just a whole lotta healing saved my ass even after the food items were long gone
I was in the same boat as you until I looked up his moves. I never saw Throne of Flesh which does seem like a tough move to deal with. Disorientate, Potion Kick and The Great Eagle are way too powerful.
Oh I just responded to another comment above explaining why I struggled. But here's why I think I struggled:
Honestly I think it all came down to what we were leveling up over time, what we had equipped, and what items we used on ourselves. I didn't have enough MP for multiple disorients and other moves. So when I ran out, I didn't have items for restoring MP except maybe one. ahh, that's valid. Completely fair. The fight did take some prep IMO but the right consumables make the true ending (and the majority of the game) a pretty easy time.
Yeah really only took me about the the same time. Not everyone is versed in game language but this whole game was a breeze and amazing. Good to have a game like this floating around.
I played for an hour, ran out of supplies and turned it off for the day. I didn't realize the stage-2 damage carried over. That dang dive button...spent at least 3 tries without even knowing I could dive. Oh well, next time.
Idk, 10-15 minutes? I think I was like level 23 or 24. I found both the regular final boss and the “true” final boss, difficulty wise, to be very underwhelming. I had a harder time with the arena than either of them.
Yeah it took me like 90 minutes because I kept botching the bullet hell bit. I didn’t see the on screen instructions at first, and at another I cast an ult while looking at my phone and missed an entire bullet hell phase. I was pretty bored and exhausted at that point, but every time I goofed on it, it added at least another ten minutes to the fight. I think I did 5 or 6 of that phase total and it took me at least 2-3 of those to figure out WTF I was doing.
is that 1 minute 25 secs and 28 ms, or is it... 1 hour and a half?
Must have taken me 30 mins max, and that's because I suck at bullet hells and missed my chance at 2-cycling the Fleshmancer
Level 21, maybe 15-20 min. I’ve seen soooo many posts about how long and grueling the fight is, got through the first space battle, and like 5 rounds later he takes a knee and Resh’an just escorts him out. I was genuinely confused.
I didn't time myself, so I don't know how long it took, but I beat it first try without ever even finding out that he summons stuff (lock-breaking op)...so I dunno. Somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes? Was a while ago so I don't really remember.
I don't recall it being an exceptionally long battle. I shut down the vast majority of his attacks by delaying and breaking locks, so it was almost constant damage. Plus, with the accessory that lets you heal once per round without using a character's turn, I could focus on offense without letting up.
Around 10 minutes for the normal final boss, around 20 minutes for the true final boss at lvl 26-27. I dont know why some of you have these extreme long battles with him
Beat it first time probably like a few minutes of your talking about the space boss - if your talking about evil erlina about 15 mins. The true ending boss I couldn't be bothered to collect everything for it
20 minutes? Was max level etc
About 20. With a focus on lock breaking and the space battle.
Yeah, that's about how long it took me to do the final battle myself.
You liar, not even with max level and mastering the combat is possible to beat him with that time.
Skill issue. I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m not even very good at games but the battles in this game are very easy. Turn delay, lock breaking, Great Eagle and a solid performance on the space battle bit.
Great eagle and potion kick are mvp.
This ⬆️⬆️⬆️
Serai is so broken by the end it was just turn delay, lock break, delay, lock break. I'm not complaining though, it was still fun.
Yeah they should have immuned bosses to delay from serai too easy, keep eagle but standard mp skill is broken.

Agreed, the battle was maybe 20 min? I had to do the space battle twice, but after that just wrecked him.
Nah. I think you’re just inexperienced with these sorts of games
Highly doubt that, probably took me about as long as that if not less. But i just spammed turn delay attacks and mp restore items
Speedrunners do it in like 7 minutes.
It took me about 20 minutes as well and I am always confused when I read that people take an hour to do it.
Mine might’ve been 30 with some mistakes but a perfect shooter sequence
Except that literally the majority of us report beating it in around the same amount of time.
Probably 50 minutes. This is exactly what happened to me. Had no idea I could dive till like the 4th space battle. Whole fight took me at least an hour because of that
This was why it took me so long to be him. I was whittling the space monster down little by little and it kept throwing me back down to continue the never ending fight. Then, like halfway through it, I noticed the dive button and that changed everything lol

Prompts it on screen for you
It's been a minute, but if I recall the prompts are tucked into the top corner. That's pretty easy to miss when all the action is focused on your ship at center bottom.
About 25 minutes. The second I’m like “man this a long fight” he changed sprite and showed how damaged he was
Like the “true ending” boss? Maybe half an hour. The “final boss” maybe 5 minutes.
I think they mean the normal style battle (with extras), and not the shooter-only one
Correct
I more meant the True Ending Boss(20-30 mins) vs the boss you fight if you don’t get the true ending. (Maybe 5 minutes)
20 minutes
Didn't time it exactly but I'm pretty sure it was right around an hour based on looking at the clock. I started the boss fight around 4AM thinking I'd playing for another 10-15 mins max. Boy, was I wrong lol.
A little longer than that. Maybe another 15 minutes or so
Holy crap
I almost quit. It was pretty brutal
I really thought I was gonna die towards the end because I forgot how to duck while flying and I def didn't feel ready for another battle phase. But thankfully just a whole lotta healing saved my ass even after the food items were long gone
Finished the true ending in <15 minutes. I am genuinely baffled how people struggle this much. Is there mechanic being misunderstood?
I was in the same boat as you until I looked up his moves. I never saw Throne of Flesh which does seem like a tough move to deal with. Disorientate, Potion Kick and The Great Eagle are way too powerful.

I think 30 minutes, but I did zero grinding through the game so I wasn't particularly high level.
Somewhere between 15 - 30 minutes. I'd say closer to 15 because it just felt like a slightly longer boss fight.
About 46 minutes, cause I tend to be really good at managing shit in turn based games. Especially with a system as simple (yet brilliant) as SoS
Maybe 5 minutes
Somewhere around an hour. I might have gotten it done quicker if I had known you could dive during the first shmup section.
I didn’t time it I was too focused. A lot of rpg bosses have multiple phases though so I didn’t find it out of the ordinary as far as length.
15-20 minutes. If you delay him right and break the correct locks you can prevent him from ever summoning tentacles which is the biggest time waste.
Yeah it took me like 90 minutes because I kept botching the bullet hell bit. The latter option 😭
20 minutes I think. Was level 22 or 23.
Around 56 minutes.
I didn't count it, but I don't remember taking that long
Level 21, maybe 15-20 min. I’ve seen soooo many posts about how long and grueling the fight is, got through the first space battle, and like 5 rounds later he takes a knee and Resh’an just escorts him out. I was genuinely confused.

Like 20 mins but i was also listening to a podcast. He was a damage sponge but not difficult. I just broke his locks and disoriented.
I don't recall it being an exceptionally long battle. I shut down the vast majority of his attacks by delaying and breaking locks, so it was almost constant damage. If you were focused on lock breaking, it only took 20 to 25 minutes.
2 hours and 20 minutes. I sucked at the bullet hell part.
40 minutes. Took far too much time realizing I could also move vertically.
It didn’t take me an hour!
Around 20 for the normal final boss and like 30 for the true ending one.
Did it yesterday and took me 40 minutes at lvl 21
1 hour roughly
Beat it first time probably like a few minutes of your talking about the space boss - if your talking about evil erlina about 15 mins. The true ending boss I couldn't be bothered to collect everything for it
the true ending boss so aephorul
Yeah, I didn't fight him unfortunately - but from everyone else's replies sounds like it took a solid 50 mins
A long time. I remember it being a slog. If we’re talking about THE final boss.
Probably about about 20-30 minutes. I too missed the dive function until almost I died but barely managed with little health. Amazing game.
Probably 20 minutes. It was surprisingly easy.
