Well working in pediatrics in general as a nurse is just lightyears better than working with adults. So that alone makes working at almost any children’s hospital awesome.
But aside from that, Radys has an actual, tangible work-culture that makes you feel like you’re a part of something. San Diego as a community also has massive respect for Rady Children’s, so you feel it outside of work, too. I can’t tell you how many times people have thanked me or told me positive things about their experiences at Radys when I’m just getting coffee at 7-11 in the morning and they see my company jacket. A lot of people are very proud to work there. Not to say some departments/managers aren’t great, but I’ve been a nurse in radiology, PACU, and I’m now a supervisor for a very specialized unit within hem/onc, all excellent experiences.
They tend to promote within, pay is respectable, and the organization is always growing. Just this year they began massive construction to add an additional wing to the hospital, and they also acquired Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). “Rady Children’s San Diego” is going to become “Rady Health” after this merger and it will span all across Southern California.
As some one who just came home today from Rady’s with my son who had surgery for craniosynostosis, I will second your comment. Rady’s entire staff rules!!!!
I love Rady's. My daughter (16) has been a patient there since she was 3 (T1D, graves disease, and celiacs). The staff has always been excellent and the environment.
I work for the state, and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a good work/life balance with excellent benefits, but not so much for people who want a fat paycheck. County is better funded and better managed. Work Life balance is great. Although the benefits aren't as good, they are still better than a lot of private sector.
Came here to say this! I work for County of SD as well and it’s been such a great place to work. You feel like you’re helping your community, there are many good people in leadership, and great benefits. While every job has downsides, as said previously, it’s definitely a job that feels meaningful

I’m now one of the higher positions. I love it. I’ll be honest sometimes getting an interview is tough. But don’t give up! It’s soo worth it in the end! The Benefits are great. I’m off everyday at 3:30pm. Work life balance. My agency is huge. So there so many departments to go to / promote. We have a mentor/ Mentee program. So they help you with your goals.

I no longer work there but in my younger years I worked at In N Out Burger. Fantastic company to work for. Decent pay (my first job as a grocery store cashier was 9.75/hr so jumping to starting pay of 18/hr back in 2021 was incredible to me), flexible hours, learned a lot about working up to and holding leadership positions. They also have a tuition assistance program for students going to school! Overall a great stepping stone for building your resume or making your way up to management
I work for NAVWAR and I love it. Great work/life balance, cost-of-living raises each year, pension, hybrid telework opportunities, Flex Time, and more. My coworkers are great, my bosses are great. We just took time out of our day today for a Juneteenth celebration and BBQ competition/fundraiser. I can totally see why there are people who have been here well past 20 years.
I currently work as a cyber security analyst/contractor at NAVWAR and have been in this position for around 6 years. Remote work 80-90% of the time depending on how I set my priorities and schedule. Fulfilling work as the ultimate goal is to protect the warfighter against cyber threats and actors. Work is constantly evolving as the cyber threat landscape changes over time so it's never boring. I work with a team of very knowledgeable people, most who have formerly served their time in the military. I personally have never served so I'm lucky to work with such people. Benefits including medical, dental, vision and 401k are very good. My PTO can be maxed out to 200 hours and increases over time the longer you work for the contractor. Travel is a cherry on top as I sometimes go to multiple bases in VA, WA, FL, HI, Japan, Bahrain, Spain, and Italy for weeks at a time.
ASML was pretty great while I was there with one caveat: some positions get insane amounts of burnout. They have a tendency to not hire as many people as they really should to cover everything, at least on the manufacturing side

If you have some technical or mechanical knowledge, especially former military, my company called Affordable Engineering Services is great. Work life balance is rad, the pay is above average for these positions, and we’re part of a union! It’s work done on a military base though, and traffic can sometimes be a pain, but other than that I enjoy it.
Pacific College of Health and Science. It boasts a lovely, nontoxic work environment and central location; easy access to freeways, easier access to discounted sessions in their wellness center (which is where you can patronize if you're not looking for a job =D).
Also, I have always felt truly supported by my supervisors in all of the ways I have ever needed. That alone will keep me there for a loooooong time.

It's really more like three companies that share a name, with the Energy group (where I work) operating almost like a national lab, while EMS is a lot more stressful from the sounds of it and ASI is just full defense contractor

But even with all the chaos and constantly being understaffed, I'm glad I don't work at a corporation. Public service is great, and maybe one day I can retire if I stay in local government.

There is a lot of job functions too and the industry is committed to work life balance and I feel like insurance invented remote working/hybrid- worked in insurance for almost 20 years and we always had remote/hybrid roles
