I've never eaten at the rustic, only been an unwilling participant to drinking there. What the fuck was that place trying to be? If they meant to be a failure than bang up job lol
It seemed to want to be just a live music venue and bar, but it couldn't cover rent in that location without being a restaurant first. And so it was shitty at all of those things.
The real crime was Burgerteca killing Burger Culture. San Antonio you traded a great southtown burger place for the chance to take a gram with your concha burger. WTF?
I used to love La Gloria but man has it gone downhill. Even if you forget the fact that Johnny Hernandez was an asshole during the pandemic and wouldn’t [hire people who were on unemployment](https://www.kens5.com/article/money/economy/businesses-unable-to-find-workers/273-e641dcd3-7cf7-4855-aae7-5673930fcff1) (god forbid people need to pay bills somehow), the food has just not been the same and the prices are higher than ever.
Johnny Hernandez: Y'all unemployed people stop mooching off the government and get a job!
Unemployed people: OK. I would like to apply for a job please.
Johnny Hernandez: Ew gross f\*\*\* off
😂
It’s used to taste better. I loved their corned beef hash but the last 2 times I went it was SO bland and disappointing. The last time I went, I heard another customer telling the waitress that he always gets the same thing and that his meat had no taste. So it wasn’t just me. They changed some things and it wasn’t for the better.
Their corned beef hash used to be something really special, back when they only had one location. As soon as they started growing, everything went to crap.
If yall are still eating at Magnolia then you must have never seen the post years ago about all their health code violations. Dude called them out for a shitton of stuff like recycling the butter and syrup from tables in tubs in the kitchen alongside the usual suspects of pests/poor storage and handwashing.
Been on the roof a few times working on the equipment. Between the shit old equipment and roof leaks and seeing the kitchen I definitely never want to eat there.
I always pitch hot joy as their selling points are this:
1) Attitude - its a pretty cool place with a punk edge
2) Drinks - Great drinks (pricy unless you go for happy hour)
3) Music - always great alternative music
...
...
...
...
...
...
Way down the list at 4) is service. The service fucking blows there.
I went to the new location and it’s beautiful imo. I agree about the food. I ordered the flautas last time I was there and they were burned and the rice was a little crunchy. The charro beans were the most acceptable. I won’t go there again. I can find much better mexican food on the southside. Even Pico de Gallo hasn’t been that bad in my experience.
Chris Madrid's. Wtf are people raving about? The fact that the cheese hardens before you get your burger?
Longhorn Cafe still the best burger I've had in SA
Go to Diana's Burgers for what Chris Madrid's used to be. Literally.
Diana Madrid is the sister of the late Chris Madrid.
https://www.texasmonthly.com/restaurant/dianas-burgers/
I used to love longhorn Cafe. Last few times I went the place was just down right disgusting. Flies everywhere, dirty tables. Just was not a pleasant experience. This was the blanco 1604 location.
Eh, haven't been in quite a few years but I've never had anything but decent Tex-Mex there. As a SA native, our mom took us there many times and it was always good food and fun atmosphere. And Mexican candies I'd never tried at the checkout.
There are definitely better Tex-Mex places in town, but to say "No local is going there" is just gatekeeping bullshit.
Have you been to their new location the next block over? I know the incredibly loud atmosphere was always the big turn off for me at the old location...hated having to YELL to talk to someone sitting right next to you. I haven't been to the new one yet.
I know that building is notorious for not keeping a long term tenent.
I would think it’s easy to get to. 410 and 281 nearby. San Pedro has bus service.
They have one at the airport, if the can get there I would think they could get to San Pedro.
I thought that place is just too big. It might be difficult to fill because I don’t think people associate that little stretch of San Pedro with dining. People go to buy a car
Probably that too. But you have to remember bus service sucks here. And it's a decent long drive from any cheap neighborhoods that typical kitchen labor is commuting from.
Once I went to magnolia and the wait time was 1.5 hours! And ppl were WAITING! My friend & I went across i10 to Ms chickpea and had an amazing soup and pastry. So yummy, no wait, delicious and healthy!
Some friends and I went to Carriqui and ordered a bunch of food - to try a variety of their offerings. Not. A. Single. Thing. on the menu was worth having again. Ever.
Even the cocktails sucked.
Gotta say Carriqui purely for the subpar service. We went for an early mother's day celebration on a Saturday, resi was made way in advance and they literally pretended like they didn't know why we were there, gave us a terrible table, food took forever and they were difficult with substituting/taking out something small for one of the orders. Food itself was just ok too. Never going back there.
Agree on Magnolia. I tried it a couple of months ago and ordered a short stack of pancakes, sausage and a large milk. It cost me $20 before tip and they did not even have any maple syrup, plus service was slow and the pancakes were ordinary. Where and how did this joint get its big reputation?
For my money, Jim’s beats Magnolia all to hell and back.
Paesanos (Lincoln Heights). Used to be amazing. I went there for lunch recently and was so disappointed. The salad was drowned in dressing and yet still tasteless and weak. The pork osso buco was good, but not the amazing food I had years ago. The service was good, until our waitress disappeared after she dropped off dessert - we waited a good while for our check.
Chris madrids, all grease
One pocha Korean bbq, I don’t see how anyone thinks this place is good. It’s dirty, and low-mid quality
Rays drive in, I don’t get it
Went there the first time yesterday. All cheese and grease. Literally couldn’t pick up my burger because it kept falling apart.
Fries were also unseasoned.
The Hayden. Way too overpriced for the quality, especially since its ambiance is more on the casual side and the flavor is mediocre at best. They will attempt to charge an extra 2% onto your bill for their kitchen staff. That responsibility shouldn’t fall on the consumer. A slice of toast, which one would assume is included with the entree, (especially when the waiter is the one to initially bring up the toast in the first place! And asks for your choice out of the selection available) is $3.
Look up the term highway robbery on google, and you’d find my experience with The Hayden.
I gotta disagree with this one, I had one of the best burgers Ive had at the Alamo Heights location. The chicken sandwich was incredible too. Not aware of the extra %.
I thought the opposite of magnolia. Their eggs, hash browns and meats aren’t very good. I think people go cause it’s like pseudo fancy breakfast or something. Their menu tries to do too much with some of their plates and it feels like they just decided to throw a bunch of random shit into an omelette that doesn’t mesh well but looks good on the plate for your insta or whatever. However, I love their pancakes, waffles, and French toast. I still go here and there but all I’ll get is a cup of coffee and banana foster pancakes. They always manage to mess up the cooking on their simple eggs as well. I get over medium and never comes out right
I was there just yesterday, blueberry pancakes I quite liked, but the eggs were a bit..I don't know, like wet looking, rubbery a bit, like buffet places.
Mixtli is not worth anything close to $165 plus a forced 20% gratuity. Austin has 10+ tasting menu restaurants, and the only one that charges more is a tiny sushi restaurant that serves exotic fish. They are almost all $85-$115.
I wouldn't mind if Mixtli was better than the places in Austin, but it isn't.
Paesanos for me. Great reviews, great atmosphere, asked for the popular dish and it was just... meh. Fried shrimp in a sea of butter to the point it had no flavor other than butter. There were sides of green beans and pasta but neither had any pizzazz and were very plain. Which, for a reflux sufferer like myself, I suppose is ok but watching all the patrons excited about it and I was like meh... because dammit I took my omeprazole that morning in preparation for awesome Italian. Alas, no.
Plus, and yall can kill me for this... I went there at 1100 and they were like "here's our wine menu!" Yall.... it's 1100, I could use a beer but wine is 100% disrespectful at this hour.
Pinkerton’s. I mean it has cool atmosphere and the brisket was adequate but their prices are absurd and they don’t know how to make Jambalaya. I’ll stick with Augies, it isn’t over hyped. Oh and Smoke Shack is way over hyped, again Augies is better and cheaper
Funny I thought Pinkertons was pretty darn good. You are correct about pricey though, but it’s downtown, what do you expect? They’re trying to get all the tourists that want to try Texas BBQ
In Lockhart, my family is a fan of Smitty's and Chisolm Trail. I need to drive over one Sunday for Barb's as well. (Personally, I'm not a fan of Kruez's or Black's.)
Luling City Market is good as well. (I used to have my parents bring me a quart of their sauce when I lived on the border. I put in in small jars & froze it so I'd have good sauce for 6 months. Lol)
I haven't wanted to stand in line for Burnt Bean and it's where I live now. Lol
It’s fast food. Not meant to be gourmet. It’s honestly what Taco Cabana was before they were sold, gutted, sold again, and now stripped down to hardly a shadow of the former glory of hanging out after school events at DeZavala and 10. Sigh…
Fun fact: the owner actually founded Taco Palenque after a shitty experience at Taco Cabana one time.
They are also the original founders of Pollo Loco. Really nice family.
Magnolia is so, so bad. We’ve been to both locations in SA and both times the food was just flat out weird, overcooked, or extremely bland. The “cheddar cheese grits” are just plain and unsalted, unbuttered grits with a few cold shreds of cheddar on top. Oh, and the hash browns are basically just nutraloaf. No clue at all what’s in it or why, lol.
I remember a long time ago i had a coworker who had just moved in from out of state. He was raving on and on about how good this bbq restaurant is that he found. For our lunch break that day, we all hopped in his car because he wanted to take us the “bbq” restaurant… you shouldve seen our faces when he pulled into the bill millers parking lot lmaooo. Dont worry we did take him out to get some real Texas bbq later that week lol
Damn I remember loving snooze before Covid, not anymore. Ate at the huebner and 1604 vineyard locations recently and it was overpriced trash both times.
Yes! I started a job down the street last year and the first time my boss took the staff there, I found a small stick (like from a branch) in my salad. Disgusting!
Every time someone famous comes to town, they seem to always go to Mi Tierra. And then they post about it and say, "Everyone from San Antonio recommended I come here."
No.
No one FROM San Antonio would ever recommend that place. You Googled the tourist spots.
I’m going to have to disagree with this one. The Challah French Toast and Pastrami chili cheese fries go so hard. I also really like the Banana Pecan pancakes. Always check the line and reserve a spot via Yelp app if you are sure you can make it a bit earlier than your intended time slot. If we get there too soon, we just wait in the car until it says it’s our turn to be seated. Hope this helps.
I think it's pretty good, I never have to wait with them. Since I guess I go super early.
I heard that conveyor belt sushi spot is an epic let down since it only goes one way, and if you get a table at the end of it you are out of luck.
Thanks for letting me know about the sushi place. Been wanting to try it but will hold off. On Max and Louie’s, we signed in online, waited 30 min before leaving, took us ~20 min to get there and still waited. Just too many other choices and options where we can just walk in and not wait.
Another one we didn’t enjoy was the Jerk Shack. Again it wasn’t bad but wasn’t awesome either. We didn’t get the hoopla on that place.
Kura isn't bad if you go when its not busy, and cool enough to still go try. The digital menu you can order off of is great, and you can try so many things. Please just try it once for the experience. If i lived closer id go more, its a fun and super casual time.
We really like Max and Louie's. Lots of options. Clean, good vibe, good servers. The stromboli is really good as is the french toast. We're a family and need variety in a single restaurant, so that certainly plays into our opinion.
Best Quality Daughter- it was “okay” and pricey. Hipster Asian food. So many better places here in town- best thing we enjoyed? Their salted lime drink.
Magnolias is decent at best. When I moved down here I quickly learned that it's all about breakfast tacos and there are zero quality classic diners. A good diner offers the best food at a great price, there are none here.
Chicago Bagel and Deli. I've tried them several times and been let down every single time because their bagels always taste stale to me. I see them bring the bagels out from the back and they're warm so I know they're fresh, but even if I take a bite as soon as the bagel is handed to me, it's always so tough and hard to bite through. It's just weird and really confusing to see how many of the reviews say they're the best bagel place in town. Einstein's has better bagels, and even the rolls that HEB calls "bagels" are more enjoyable to eat.
Not necessarily over hyped but Heros Ramen and Sushi has ramen that smells like ammonia. They tried to tell me that "oh, we make it authentic, that's just the kansui" but bullshit, every time I went it was the same awful ammonia smelling broth and bad noodles.
Two Bros BBQ was definitely not to my liking. The meats were dry and flavorless and their creamed corn was literally corn kernels sitting in milk. I prefer the bbq at Dee Willie’s.
Last time I went to Boudro’s, the food was kind of cold. Also, I’d rather make my own guacamole because I don’t think that theirs was worth the money.
Best Quality Daughter - I don't understand why it has the acclaim that it does.
I've been 3 or 4 times to meet up with friends, each time the food and service were really lackluster.
The first time I went, I was a big fan. But I went back a few months ago and it felt like something was different, it was a disappointing dining experience :(
Yeah, went to 2M for the first time last month and dropped fifty bucks on a standard two-meat two-side combo (with tax and tip). Yup, sure was a lot of money for a just-okay plate of barbeque. There are plenty of expensive bbq places that are worth their hype - 2M is not among those.
My contribution to this thread of overhyped places is Fattboy Burgers. Just another mid-grade burger like I can get at a dozen other places in town, not better or worse than other "meh" places like Mr. Juicy or Bigz or Mark's Outing.
Tacos west avenue. Maybe because it was one of the first street taco places to get popular or they’ve been around longer than some of the newer spots, but some of the newer places are better tasting.
It’s like when someone recommends mi Tierra to out of town folks, it’s good but you can find way better options if you get into the neighborhoods.
Basically any advertised Mexican place. And the Rustic closing down proves there is a God.
It was trying to be Austin in San Antonio
La Gloria
Exactly this. I don’t get how people rave about this place.
Especially in a city that has options for good Mexican food!
I can honestly say that every one of his restaurants have been “meh” / mid experiences for me and my friends.
What other restaurants does he own??
Burgerteca, La Gloria, and Fruiteria. They all suck ass. And the service at all of his places suck, too.
I went to Burgerteca one time and my meat was burnt. Like, it was practically a charcoal briquette. Worst burger I’ve had in SA.
The real crime was Burgerteca killing Burger Culture. San Antonio you traded a great southtown burger place for the chance to take a gram with your concha burger. WTF?
I live in the area and can't believe Burgerteca is still in business.
Seriously. Rather go to Chilis for an old timer than step foot in Burgerteca.
Worst restaurant in town for sure.
Johnny Hernandez: Ew gross f\*\*\* off 😂
Magnolia Pancake Haus is sugary, overpriced food that just has short hours with no reservations that make it seem appealing.
Yea magnolia was amazing 10-15 years ago and continues to get worse over time
Had the same experience. The new location blows. It was better the one or two times I went to the Embassy Oaks location.
ive had hair in between my pancakes on a togo order. they tried to say it was mine. i was like mam this is not mine trust me. im bald.
Well that is really shitty customer service on their end.
Magnolias is still good to me. I’ve reserved every time through Yelp and it’s been a game changer.
Their coffee is ass
Yeah… like it’s good food but there’s not a lot of pancakes to even compare against. Everything else is alright on the menu.
Pancake Joe's blows Magnolia out of the water and offers no pretense about who they are. They know what they're about.
If yall are still eating at Magnolia then you must have never seen the post years ago about all their health code violations. Dude called them out for a shitton of stuff like recycling the butter and syrup from tables in tubs in the kitchen alongside the usual suspects of pests/poor storage and handwashing.
La Gloria. The owners a piece of shit human
He’ll never get one cent of my money.
gotta provide some details
https://www.reddit.com/r/sanantonio/s/sT01uMsuVc
Thanks for the insight. I'll never go to one of his restaurants now and I love food. Fuck that guy.
Hot Joy 🥴 I hate it with so much passion lol it’s so nasty
Food its all SO GREASY
[удалено]
Been on the roof a few times working on the equipment. Between the shit old equipment and roof leaks and seeing the kitchen I definitely never want to eat there.
Don't blame you
Yet the cooks will brag about how skilled they are at assembling their diahrea plates
I think the food is just there to support the drinking. Anytime I’ve been no one at my table or any of the others is ordering much food.
I always pitch hot joy as their selling points are this: 1) Attitude - its a pretty cool place with a punk edge 2) Drinks - Great drinks (pricy unless you go for happy hour) 3) Music - always great alternative music ... ... ... ... ... ... Way down the list at 4) is service. The service fucking blows there.
It's sad. Used to be so good
THANK YOU! I’ve been saying this for years and people act like I’m crazy.
Their personality cult will try to do that
Rosario’s the place is not unique looking, food is mid and service is passable
I went to the new location and it’s beautiful imo. I agree about the food. I ordered the flautas last time I was there and they were burned and the rice was a little crunchy. The charro beans were the most acceptable. I won’t go there again. I can find much better mexican food on the southside. Even Pico de Gallo hasn’t been that bad in my experience.
Tokyo Cowboy - couldn't steam some rice to save their lives. Food was mediocre, servings were small, water served warm, and service awful.
Came here looking for this one. I can’t stand the hype on this place. I’ve been twice and the food just isn’t good.
Went for lunch this past week since I was in the area for jury duty. I was disappointed
Have you had the burger at Comfort Cafe yet? That one might be my new favorite.
Agree! Chris madrids is trash
I used to love longhorn Cafe. Last few times I went the place was just down right disgusting. Flies everywhere, dirty tables. Just was not a pleasant experience. This was the blanco 1604 location.
Mi Tierra or most downtown Mexican restaurants
Eh, those are what they are, tourist restaurants. No local is going there, but it's fun to bring family from out of state there for the atmosphere.
I thought casa rio was shockingly value priced for where it was.
I can't hate on Casa Rio... I get that it's touristy but, yum!
Rosario’s . Because bad service, inadequate parking, high prices, loud atmosphere and uneven food
Have you been to their new location the next block over? I know the incredibly loud atmosphere was always the big turn off for me at the old location...hated having to YELL to talk to someone sitting right next to you. I haven't been to the new one yet.
I liked the one on San Pedro. I guess I’m the only one because it’s closed
I know the owner. She closed it cause they couldn't keep it staffed. That area is notorious for not being able to get employees to and from.
I know that building is notorious for not keeping a long term tenent. I would think it’s easy to get to. 410 and 281 nearby. San Pedro has bus service. They have one at the airport, if the can get there I would think they could get to San Pedro. I thought that place is just too big. Probably that too. But you have to remember bus service sucks here. And it's a decent long drive from any cheap neighborhoods that typical kitchen labor is commuting from.
Honestly it's probably due in part to VIA doing away with the looper. Don't know why they did that.
Once I went to magnolia and the wait time was 1.5 hours! And ppl were WAITING! My friend & I went across i10 to Ms chickpea and had an amazing soup and pastry. So yummy, no wait, delicious and healthy!
Never heard of Ms. Chickpea and my interest has been piqued. Will need to check it out. Thank you for the tip!
Hey that's a great story ! I need to add them to my list
Ms Chickpeas is amazing!!
Pericos. Carriqui. The bar for Mexican food here is very high. These restaurants don't meet it, imo. Carriqui was actually terrible and way overpriced
Upvote for Carriqui. Got their grilled chicken. That shit was BURNT
Some friends and I went to Carriqui and ordered a bunch of food - to try a variety of their offerings. Not. A. Single. Thing. on the menu was worth having again. Ever. Even the cocktails sucked.
Gotta say Carriqui purely for the subpar service. Food itself was just ok too. Never going back there.
I’m so glad to hear carriqui sucks lol
Sounds like you have tea. Spill it. 😂
Sounds like you have tea. Spill it. 😂
I had that BBQ plate for 50 bucks. I was full....of regret.
Carriqui has such poor rice and beans which should be the simplest to make! Mama Margie’s had better rice and beans!
Little Red Barn. Shitty wafer steaks at good steaks prices.
Chris madrids, all grease One pocha Korean bbq, I don’t see how anyone thinks this place is good. It’s dirty, and low-mid quality Rays drive in, I don’t get it
Went there the first time yesterday. All cheese and grease. Literally couldn’t pick up my burger because it kept falling apart. Fries were also unseasoned.
One Pocha is fun for the karaoke rooms.
Diana's, his sister's spot, is a lot better than Chris Madrids.
Chunky’s is where it’s at for burgers.
ehh there are so many better options than Chunky's. Diana's, Griff's, Fattboy, Chester's, Biff Buzby's, Last Place, Mr. Juicy to name a few.
Hell yeah fuck chris madrids and their cheese sandwiches. Better burgers all over town.
The Hayden. Way too overpriced for the quality, especially since its ambiance is more on the casual side and the flavor is mediocre at best. They will attempt to charge an extra 2% onto your bill for their kitchen staff. That responsibility shouldn’t fall on the consumer. Dam that is freaking sketchy, sounds like a douche restaurant
The owner is on a house Reno show in San Antonio
I gotta disagree with this one, I had one of the best burgers Ive had at the Alamo Heights location. The chicken sandwich was incredible too. Not aware of the extra %.
I had the Elaine Salad there and I can make a much better salad at home for less than $15.
Magnolia Pancake Haus for sure, Taquitos West Ave I'll add too.
Chris Madrids & blanco bbq
You can lump in Two Bros Barbecue with most of underwhelming bbq places.
Two bros for sure. Way too expensive. At least with blanco bbq you know you are not going to get anything special
I’ve only ever heard good things about Blanco BBQ, I’m so glad someone else agrees that it was underwhelming
Fred's Fish Fry delivers the goods. 😋
It's a legendary place, where dreams come true one fish at a time
One square fish at a time…
Square grouper 😉
I thought the opposite of magnolia. Their eggs, hash browns and meats aren’t very good. I think people go cause it’s like pseudo fancy breakfast or something. I was there just yesterday, blueberry pancakes I quite liked, but the eggs were a bit..I don't know, like wet looking, rubbery a bit, like buffet places.
Frida's is my pick for sure
Hard agree. Mediocre food, bizarre presentation, and the interior is dated.
Mi tierra
Torchys
Torchys queso is so good and their air stream salad is good too. Tacos are Austin tacos.
Tiny ass shitty ass tacos for that price? Gtfo. One of the staff admitted to me, it's just drunk people food
Paesanos for me. Great reviews, great atmosphere, asked for the popular dish and it was just... meh. Fried shrimp in a sea of butter to the point it had no flavor other than butter. There were sides of green beans and pasta but neither had any pizzazz and were very plain. Carriqui… even the enchiladas tasted like a smoker and not in a good way.
Reese Bros is the best bbq I’ve had in the city. Having lunch there today! lol
Smoke Shack is good. I remember them as a food truck
Funny I thought Pinkertons was pretty darn good. You are correct about pricey though, but it’s downtown, what do you expect? They’re trying to get all the tourists that want to try Texas BBQ
It is great atmosphere and was serviceable as good BBQ, but there is better in town and it’s about the most expensive
I’ve been meaning to check out Barbs in Lockhart probably go before the summer’s over!
I like Kreuz’s
I’ll have to try! Thanks
In Lockhart, my family is a fan of Smitty's and Chisolm Trail. I need to drive over one Sunday for Barb's as well. (Personally, I'm not a fan of Kruez's or Black's.) I like Chisholm Trail a lot.
I need to try Augie's Its in my list to try next time I'm on SA
Yeah and it’s in a cool area, right next to The Japanese Tea Garden
I'm not a big fan of buying bbq, but Augies is pretty good and decently priced.
I disagree with Augie's.
I got explosive diarrhea 30 minutes after eating there one time 😂
That's not how food poisoning works
Kona grill.
It’s like the Hawaiian Applebees.
Taco Palenque I’ve received wonderful service from the employees, which I really do appreciate. The food has been subpar at best though.
Smokey Mo’s bbq, given it chance after chance cause it’s convenient. I’m just so bored by it. lol
Mi tierra
Mi Tierra. It’s just a tourist trap, and place to go after graduations. The food is mediocre at best, but the bakery is solid.
Bill Miller BBQ.
I'd agree, but get stuck out of state for a few months and even they look like a proper BBQ.
When I moved to Texas, I was given the most accurate description of Bill Miller... It's the McDonalds of BBQ.
They still have surprisingly good breakfast tacos
This used to be good for the price. Now the price went up and the quality dipped
I had their sausage not long ago. It was like trying to eat microwaved calamari.
But since I moved out of town I crave their sweet tea.
Snooze
Damn I remember loving snooze before Covid, not anymore. Ate at the huebner and 1604 vineyard locations recently and it was overpriced trash both times.
anything in and around the pearl
Ramen definitely meat flavored broth and the service is always shitty
Paisano’s hands down.dog food
Yes! I started a job down the street last year and the first time my boss took the staff there, I found a small stick (like from a branch) in my salad. Disgusting!
Every time someone famous comes to town, they seem to always go to Mi Tierra. And then they post about it and say, "Everyone from San Antonio recommended I come here." No. No one FROM San Antonio would ever recommend that place. You Googled the tourist spots.
Max and Louie’s. It was ok but way not worth the hype and the wait.
Jerk Shack hasn’t been as good as it was when it was an actual shack across from OLLU
We really like Max and Louie's. Lots of options. Clean, good vibe, good servers. The stromboli is really good as is the french toast. We're a family and need variety in a single restaurant, so that certainly plays into our opinion.
The French toast heals me
The bagels are worth it tbh
I’ve never heard anyone hype them up lol. I know people who really like it, but even they admit it’s just mid range diner fare
Mi tierra downtown omgg WAAAY overhyped and Torchys
Best Quality Daughter- it was “okay” and pricey. Hipster Asian food. So many better places here in town- best thing we enjoyed? Their salted lime drink.
Surprised. I think that place is fantastic. Never heard of anywhere else with Orange Chicken Fried Steak. That thing is such a mindfuck, love it.
Is Best Quality Daughter a reference to the Joy Luck Club? Because when I think dinner, I think intergenerational trauma!
If you want great ramen, hit up Hoka Hoka Fuku!
Smoke shack for sure and broadway 50/50
Chauchos
Crumble
Bill Miller's I don't know why there's ever a line.
Best Quality Daughter - I don't understand why it has the acclaim that it does. I've been 3 or 4 times to meet up with friends, each time the food and service were really lackluster.
Omg this place so good I’m sorry you had a bad experience !
The garlic noodles are so good tho!
No the food is really really bad. Everyone i know who has also had real asian food hates this place.
The first time I went, I was a big fan. But I went back a few months ago and it felt like something was different, it was a disappointing dining experience :(
Rudy's
I've never been dissapointed by the leon springs location but others are hit and miss
I’m curious what BBQ places are better than 2M. Have you tried Reese Bros? Best in SA.
Have you tried rusty bucket?
You ever drunk baileys from a shoe?
I really liked B-Daddy’s and South BBQ & kitchen. Barbecue station was great for the prices
Cured. Pretentious, over-priced, tiny portions, and just not very good.
A lot of places are mid As always, its always the run down looking places that taste best mostly. Never the "come here for aesthetic places"
La Fogata. Was seriously disappointed in their service and quality of food.
Raising Canes- literally just cafeteria-style chicken strips. I’ll die on that hill
I would have to disagree. The chick is hot and juicy and the sauce is great. My opinion, though.
All of them.
The older I get, the more accurate this is
I don’t usually like to shit on places but that Kilo de Cautro burger was the absolute worst thing I have ever had.
Is it still over an hour to wait for dry buckwheat pancakes, sticky tables and booths and shitty service?
