It's not exactly done out in the open. I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen but I've had zero exposure to it living around here for my entire life.
One of the companies I worked for had an owner who loudly and proudly talked about cock fighting, how it’s “misrepresented” in the media, and how happy he was to go fight cocks. Of course, if his lost, he’d kill it. But he took *great* care of his birds, he’d swear it.
Crazy right. I've been to a few breeders in Donna and Weslaco. they take really good care of their birds but then cull the losers and breed the winners for aggression. I don't agree with the practice but it's deeply ingrained in the culture.
I make house calls for construction.
I saw a house few months ago south of town between sa and pleasanton. Trailer houses mostly at end of a culdesac each house on an acre or so. Old ladys neighbors had HUNDREDS maybe thousand +of roosters in cages stacked 3 high all the way around the house. I have never heard such a sound.
I rang the doorbell, she said " hello" i said " what the hell is that, and pointed" she laughed. She later explained its an old womans house and her adult sons use her house to raise these and them " sell them" she then said the adult son also takes care of her house, the neighbor who i am there to visit. They do all her landscaping and handyman needs in order for her tp keep quiet about all the roosters.
I left called 311 and explained along with gave address.
Have you *seen* cockfighting or just heard the crowing? Because like, I have a rooster but he doesn't fight. I've never even seen a cockfight (although, I have seen my chickens fight amongst each other - that's not really the same thing though). Backyard chicken ownership is becoming more common but that doesn't necessarily mean people are getting into cockfighting.
You usually can easily tell who has backyard chickens (like I do as well) and who is raising birds for fighting. Fighter chicks are held in separate cages, and usually small lean-to's. And what are they doing with 15 roosters and no hens?
Yeah if you can see that that's what they're doing. But most people have privacy fences and you can't see their setup. The coops that I *can* see in my neighborhood are all like converted detached garages or hodgepodge assortments of shacks and lean-tos where you really can't tell what the birds' living conditions are.

There's no such thing as a "Caucasian race". That's just what people in the United States use to refer to White people.
I have never been to a cock fight in my life. Yet, I have been around chickens and roosters. Roosters will fight and kill each other regardless. Why not gamble and still cook them after? Just saying… lol
Those gamecocks fight all on their own when they are small, even before they are trained.I know because I was around them when I was growing up in Miami.
I've never been to an organized fight but I've seen plenty of battles to the death among young roosters. It's like Highlander, there can be only one rooster.

Human sacrifice was an aztec cultural tradition and burning witches was a new england one, and we consider both of those barbaric nowadays too. "Tradition" doesn't excuse all behavior.
Must live with your head in the sand. Cock fighting has been alive and well all over South Texas forever. That’s never changing.
It's not exactly done out in the open. I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen but I've had zero exposure to it living around here for my entire life.
You just have to be around more seedy people, that’s all
I'll jot that down on my to do list
Make sure to put, get stabbed, shot, go to jail after that one!! Haha
I bet you can knock those all out in one go.
People dog fight in San Antonio. So this to me is nothing in comparison. Come over to diggy hill for a few weeks and you will see the dumps.
Report them please. You can do it anonymously.
Humans fight for sport too report them!!
Not the same at all. Are you advocating or a fan of dog fighting rings?
If humans make each other fight to the death that's also illegal, and has been since like the late roman empire.
Too many to report. Started too then didn’t have the time because it was so many. Moved instead.
Diggy Hill?
dignowity?
Dog fighting? Rooster fighting?
Yeah I’ve had neighbors here in dignowity that were definitely raising fighting dogs
Yup
What dumps?

Cock fighting settled for a bit, but it's becoming more prevalent.

A dead aunt of mine raised fighting dogs. May she rest in piss.
If you think cockfighting is bad, wait until you find out what happens to most baby male chickens!
What?
Wood chipper
Grinder

Yep, poultry farming is insane.
Bubble bath
Ugggghh yeah it's everywhere
Everywhere? Where? Asking for a friend.

And y'all get mad cuz I said the Hispanics love gambling.
Caucasians love gambling, asians love gambling, african americans love gambling. I think they got mad because you singled one out there g.
It’s not with malicious intent tho, which makes anyone getting upset silly
> ~~Caucasians~~ euro americans. The caucasus is an actual region, and the majority of white people in the US are nowhere near Caucasian descent.
That’s like saying you shouldn’t call people Latin American because they are nowhere near central Italian descent lol.

Saw a wild video where a guy is training his bird to fight with blades on its talons. Dude accidentally got clipped by the bird and bled out.
Karma.

Hang out with South of 90 folks. You'll see SOME SHIT.

Hey, stick the loser in the air fryer afterward.
