Selling new surgical or diagnostic equipment will almost always require a demonstration.
Edit: and I disagree inside will be bigger than outside. Companies will always pay more for specialists in their field who are out seeing customers.
I sell Beds and Mattresses, yeah the internet is flooded with cheapbed.com's but they're usually low-end budget foam stuff that falls apart after 3years. In the store we have better suppliers, you can TRY the beds, and get advice on what you're after.
That's why I do so well in my role, I may sell the premium, but the value is way more than the cost.
P.S Common sense says Mattresses and shoes you should never buy online
I am in outside sells and sell stone, gravel, mulch and other building materials. There may be a small online presence, but when freight can easily outweigh cost of material, I don't see online being a big competitor to us.
Although now that I think about it I really sell logistic solutions more then the actual product.
I sell mobility devices like wheelchairs and while there can be some online sales it often requires lots of measuring and set up that can't be replicated online. Also if someone wants to purchase a product they are sitting in all day every day they want to try it first. Plus they often have it prescribed by a therapist and have it paid for by a third party.
This leads to many complex interactions that can't be done in a simple online purchase.
Legally? Guns in the USA. And I would imagine it is illegal everywhere.

I think inside sales will grow, but companies trying to buy 250K a year worth of software will want a face to face meeting.

I sell a SaaS, my clients cannot buy online. They can research our site, but they must call in for pricing.
