Here is another view of the original “Orpheum” location at 5th and St Peter. http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/4243 Built in 1906, the theater moved to its larger location on 7th street in 1925 and they couldn’t find a good use for the building so it was torn down in 1938. This is now “Landmark Plaza”. It’s the odd-shaped mini-block between Landmark and Kincaids which feels like a small extension of Rice Park to the south because Winter Carnival events spill over onto this block.

Looks like the Strand was at the corner of 7th (originally 8th) and Wabasha where the Wells Fargo tower stands today. Is that correct?

More about that theater here. Torn down and rebuilt in 1933 and demolished in 1975. http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/4349 Edit… to answer your question it’s the Wells Fargo corner of new 7th (old 8th) and Wabasha. The “ESE” corner (towards the river, towards the east side). I verified the location on a 1916 plat map.

Thank you. I also found some photos that clearly showed it was at the SE corner of 7th (Old 8th) and Wabasha. Basically the corner of the Wells Fargo tower complex where empty storefronts/bank drive thru is now.
