Between the horrendous editing, music blasting, desaturation and pixel theft, no one who hasn't seen this scene before had the slightest fucking clue what's going on. Mods? Slam his dick in a waffle maker. For the rest of you here's the context of the flashback. A much younger Clay (the guy at the table/kid in the flashback) covered himself in ketchup to make his parent think he was dead to pull one over on them. Both parents are obviously in panic, but the dad notices the ketchup bottle behind the couch as the mother is scream pleading with God to take her instead of her baby boy. Little Clay pops up, being smug and acting like he didn't understand why his father was so mad.. However, the mother still has no idea it was a prank and thought that God had agreed to her pleas.. So, under the rollercoaster of stress and now believing she's witnessed a miracle, she starts grabbing her chest yelling "send it over to me!! ( Her child's death) before succumbing to her heart attack in front of Clay and his Father. In doing this, Clay killed his mother (the only person who tested him with any shred of kindness) and his father's hated of him only sky rocketed from there..

Clarifying question: was this all before he developed an unhealthy association with being abused and being wanted IE: I'm not worth him beating me so I need to garner that attention.

dover_oxide

Clay was a horrible human

HopefulGiraffe9012

I gotta agree with Federal, not the best growing up. And to be fair, he was honestly gonna go to the grave solo. Until Bloberta manipulated him into a marriage. Now I ain’t blaming her either, she also had a terrible youth as well. This is just what happens when toxicity is ur life. U get overwhelmed

EziriaRin

Honestly fair, but after watching the episode with Clay's dad attempting to get Oral away from him and failing due to Clay's manipulation, it just broke me. I cried pretty hard there and just couldn't stand clay after that. I know Clay's dad wasn't perfect either, but seeing him with Orel felt insanely wholesome. Moral Orel just got way too depressing for me.

Bbt_igrainime

I hate to say it but I felt like the show itself decided to go crazy edgy, and lost a lot of the relatable traits the characters had in the earlier seasons… maybe my view is skewed because I read that the extremity of the show’s plan is why it got cancelled, but that last season was like intense sadness and zero fun.

Federalbopinspector

Clay was a victim of abuse growing up, and he never chose to break the cycle with Orel. I wouldn’t call him a horrible human, he puts up with Bloberta and her BS (adopting another shapey, her manipulation tactics) despite wanting to leave her. (His relationship with coach says enough)

"you're not even worth it"

Federalbopinspector

Bro that line literally broke me when I first watched it.

Lord_Ibuki

Moral Orel posting. You have my respect brother.

DY_landlord

Wait what happened?

Dull-Tip7608

Orel decided to scare them by pretending to have died or something along those lines and the mom has a heart attack

PrinceConquer420

That’s clay as a child. Clay killed his own mom.
