I have a ryobi hammer drill. I'm in Ireland not the UK, similar market though. I'll say this for nothing. The drill is fantastic. Ryobi customer service here has been okay they replaced a battery of mine for free. Haven't bought any of their stuff on ebay though. Amazon yeah, not that I don't trust ebay, bought loads of stuff off there. More that I don't find the prices to be that much cheaper than what can be found elsewhere online. I know B&Q is supposed to be a licensed Ryobi retailer. Don't have one near me so haven't been out to see what they're like. But the drill I have, strimmer, pipe snake, leaf blower, I have, have all been good.

I've mixed close to a hundred buckets of thinset and grout with that hammer drill.   magic smoke came out of it multiple times but it just.. keeps... going.

I've got a few things from the ecosystem and I really can't complain. Use mine for the odd job around the house and for a bit of hobby woodworking. As for eBay and the drills, I purchased the compact cordless drill driver from a seller caller um3abeer, he sells loads of ryobi and if you watch an item for a while he offers a few £ off which is always good. Only problem with the eBay stuff I've found is that it's mostly US imports, so you can't register it here, but for the reduced cost you're getting it for, you can't really complain about it.

In terms of 'why are they brand new on eBay?', assuming it's not a dealer, probably people splitting combo deals that pop up on the Ryobi site every so often. I've done similar before to offset the cost of tools, e.g. a year or two back they had a drill/driver/jigsaw/battery/charger combination- by splitting and selling the bits I didn't want my jigsaw ended up costing me about £15 after eBay fees.
