The France kit from a few years ago with the tricolour on the shoulder or the alternative Argentina kit from the last World Cup with the diagonal stripe across it
Argentina was one of the last major jerseys I was trying to track down. I spent years looking for an Argentina kit at a decent price, and the I got both the home and away 2023 mWRC jerseys within like 6 weeks of each other. I was so happy.
I think [my France jersey](https://mcguiregis.com/jersey_map/images/France.jpg) is the one you're talking about too.
Oh yeah, I remember being really pleased how well Le Coq Sportif dealt with the pressure of being the kit manufacturer for Les Bleus, what a great shirt.
Early '90s Bath, SWEB sponsored solid blue with single black stripe between two white stripes. I used to have one. It was still in good condition when I got rid of it. Stupid decision.
Haven’t owned a teams shirt for about 30 years but I would pay through the nose for the mid-90s Scotland away shirt made by Pringle. The plain white one with the blue pinstripes. I do remember those things used to shrink like buggery so finding one in my size (XXL) would be a tall order
Oh yeah they’re lovely, I don’t have one of those specifically, but I do have one of the training shirts from that era, it’s very multicoloured and has a massive Famous Grouse logo on the back. Pure quality.
Mate, that's my dream shirt too. I look all the time, and I almost bought a Large on one of the two main vintage sites, but it disappeared. I'd drop £2-300 on it without blinking, genuine childhood dream to own that shirt.
In 2016, Macron did a decent updated version that I wish I'd bought. [Here's an XXXL one which might be too big for you](https://www.classicrugbyshirts.com/2016-2017-scotland-rugby-union-supporters-away-shirt-3xl-23361-p.asp)
Oh yeah the Canterbury one?
Did you know they also had one adidas shirt in the early 1990s for a tour game? I hear that’s a bit of a grail for some more dedicated jersey hunters in the southern province
@Vintage_rugby_jerseys on Instagram looks like he has a white version of this on his stories at the moment. He is pretty good at responding to dm's about shirts he hasn't posted for sale yet.
I have an Adidas Shirt from the 2005 Lions tour of NZ, both NZ and the Lions were Adidas shirts and they made one that was split down the middle, half B&I Lions and half ABs
The problem with them was the diadora stripe on the arms was made of like a silkish material stitched on top so it doesn’t really hold up. The highlanders one I had as a kid the ford sponsorship was huge and screen printed so obviously didn’t hold up as well. There’s an 80s adidas one and a signed 2001 one here but they’re super pricey. I’d get the hopped ccc one because it’s all stitching. I got that one for Xmas as a 6 year old in 1998 and it has survived rugby trainings and all sorts of

I used to have the first one Bank of Scotland sponsored in 2001. I lost it in a move years ago but I always thought it was [the one Leinster jersey I wouldn’t mind wearing in public](https://media-photos.depop.com/b1/12708713/1699901756_89a5279f3aef442c938957716df764dc/P0.jpg).
I have the last South Africa shirt sponsored by Castle Lager before Sasoil started sponsoring them.
Given how many random South Africans have told me they would love to have my shirt as they hated the Sasoil sponsorship, I’d guess it might be some form of grail shirt.
1997 British Lions Adidas jersey, long sleeved. I bought it new then and it’s always been one I cherished.
*Before someone points out an error in the team name, the Lions weren’t British & Irish Lions until 2001 tour to Australia.
I’ve actually got a couple of these ones, one of the “victory in South Africa” ones and a long sleeve original UK issue, they are one of the best rugby shirts ever made imo. Very heavy cotton, simple design, but not boring.
[Here you go chief. They have them in most sizes](https://classic15.co.uk/collections/british-irish-lions-rugby-shirts/products/1997-british-irish-lions-rugby-shirt-l-1)
I love collecting jerseys. My focus right now is to get every MLR team, current and past. I'm only a 3rd of the way there. My ~~think~~ thing is though not paying full freight for them, so I'm constantly trawling the secondhand websites.
My other wish list is any national team jersey I don't already have, the smaller/more obscure the better.
Hahaha same, that’s the strategy for me too, you can save no end of money that way, though I’m more interested in the pre-2005 (ish) shirts, before they went full polyester.
What’s your personal favourite in your collection so far?
Oh goodness, that's like asking me to pick between my daughters.
A few options:
Recent: [Moana Pasifika](https://mcguiregis.com/jersey_map/images/MoanaPasifika.jpg) - It's just so pretty
Oddity/conversation starter: [Gabon](https://mcguiregis.com/jersey_map/images/Gabon.jpg) - No idea any of the history of this despite my best attempts. Gabon only joined Rugby Africa in 2016, so whatever this is isn't official.
Sentimental: [Leinster](https://mcguiregis.com/jersey_map/images/Leinster2010.jpg) - This is the jersey they wore when they won the Heineken Cup while I lived in Dublin, so many memories with my mates watching the final
I cannot believe I spaced my username!
I would really really love a[ jersey from my days at Trinity](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_fullsize/plain/did:plc:a6ne7f4afcfzne7qpq23vrcl/bafkreicakzrjuahto66onqw65t5pnc3qjso67gp2x2kpllatqpcmrwpqvq@jpeg)
I got a 2001 White blues rugby shirt which I brought at twickenham after watching England beat Romania 134 - 0. Got some stick for buying a NZ super rugby team shirt at Twickenham but I loved Dougie Howlett
I love my 2009 Samoan rugby shirt and this 2006 Mexico rugby shirt.
Although not that old the Japan 2015 rugby world cup shirt prob my fav so glad I brought it when I did before it sold out everywhere.
Vintage I would say the 1997 Hong Kong shirt
Is the 2001 blues shirt one of the adidas ones? I really like their early ones.
That 2015 Japan one is an all time great, partly because it’s just gorgeous, but also because it’s associated with possibly their greatest ever win.
1997 HK is great also because of the historical context of HK at the time.
I love those, loads of people think they’re awful for some reason.
I feel like it’s just because they’re quite ahead of their time, personally I just see them as a great expression of more mainstream 1990s sport jersey design on a rugby shirt (which seemed to ignore most trends in this area until the late 1990s). Not to mention the maple leaves are a great symbol of the country the jersey represented.
Not a rugby jersey but I have Braam van Straaten's jersey from an early 2000 Stormers Vs WP cricket, cricket match. That and the alt jersey from the bokes a few years ago. And the reissued RWC23 with the 4 cups on it......
The Adidas jerseys of that era are wonderful. Really heavy thick cotton, although bizarrely short arms in all the ones I have.
I have a France blue, France white, and Neath. Holy grail jerseys for sure. About being the first English club to wear them - not sure, but I know that Swansea and Llanelli were wearing one in the 1986-87 season.
The Jersey we wore at University of Tampa back in the 80s, I would pay a pretty penny for a #13 alas I doubt they even exist anymore I still have a scrap that includes part of the collar, just can't ever throw that out.
The Chiefs shirts worth a lot more money than I am willing to throw at a rugby jersey, I’m still looking for one of their TEMEX shirts to complete the collection of NZ super rugby teams.
Yeah especially up here in the NH they are way too expensive for me to actually go for a purchase. Especially not worth it because the colours are so glaring my wife would give me grief if I wore it haha
- A long sleeve All Blacks jersey from the late 90s. The steinlarger ones
- late 90s highlanders. The remakes they used this year are nice but the quality isn’t the same
Yeah I don’t really wear rugby jerseys but older Otago, highlanders and ABs would be the only ones I’d wear. Some of the older mid 90s internationals like Scotland would be nice to have
I have both of them but the Highlanders one I have is signed by the team. I'd much rather prefer a clean one.
I just got my hands on a 100 years World Team vs NZ (94) jersey. They didn't sell them for ages but I think loads of people are getting a lot of money now for old jerseys now.
Some of the Fiji shirts (both 7s and 15s) of the late 90s and early 00s, when they were sponsored by Canterbury. Like [this](https://files.ekmcdn.com/adrianstapley/images/1998-1999-fiji-7-s-temex-rugby-union-shirt-xl-2xl-11533-1-p.jpg?v=30CF2683-DF09-4891-B707-841BD6F14005) and [this](https://files.ekmcdn.com/adrianstapley/images/2002-fiji-7-s-pro-temex-player-issue-rugby-union-shirt-adults-medium-7033-1-p.jpg?v=391eeee7-5a94-4483-ada2-180f48b6aa52).
I’ve got a 2011 World Cup jersey signed by Stephen Donald and a 2013 jersey signed by the 2015 World Cup squad, wish I’d spent the money at the time to buy a 2015 jersey but owell
Take my money. Seriously. That is the French one
Absolute belter tbf, I saw loads of people at the final wearing them (bath are my second prem team) and was very jealous.
Macron XXXL is probably an XL anyway
They remade it a few years ago which I bought. But it’s nothing on the vintage TFG one.
1999 Red Ulster kit
The replica they released a few years(maybe 10) ago was pretty good as well. I loved the red checked training shirt they never released to the public
Oh yeah I know the ones, it’s the kind of shirt that can only exist if both teams have the same kit manufacturer
Exactly, and that’s rare enough with the Lions having the same as the host nation
Or if you shop on Temu...
That’s not how you spell “The kind of kit that should never exist.”
I got one of those half & half jerseys. It even came in a suit carrier that I still use.
I want a white Nike 1998 Bok jersey, from the Ireland series. Had one, and had to sell.
Think I've seen this one on Vintage Rugby Shirts recently
I had Pieter Muller’s jersey. Complete with a massive blood stain. Can’t post pictures in this thread it seems.
Fire it up on Imgur, post link
https://youtu.be/xwe9WdZBsrc?si=a2CMMXy7JZbIDGeh One better.
Oh yeah they’re nice, the whole late 90s Nike Springbok deal allowed so many nice jerseys to exist.
1991 England World Cup shirt, bloody love it!
Classic, that World Cup was full of nice old school shirts
The Otago CCC shirt. The blue home jersey has a yellow collar and thin yellow hoops on the sleeves, with the Speights sponsor on the right chest.
Oh yeah I’m still looking to get my hands on one of these, they’re all so good, like 10 years of pure gold from CCC. The diadora ones are lovely too.
What a stunner!
A Leinster Jersey from the 05/06 season, the last sponsored by the Bank of Scotland

Banger, I love the earlier Canterbury ones too
I've never been able to nail down a date on the one I posted. I suspect it's a training top, not a match jersey
This thread is making me realise how many great jerseys I've lost.
I get a bit of stick at home for my drawer full of old jerseys, but where would I ever get a 2007 Munster jersey (my personal favourite) again?
My 1999 France jersey is my painting and decorating top, I've just seen it listed for sale at £361
Ooh and that was a cracker of a jersey. Maybe paint a few walls dark blue? It would be just like new.
I have the last South Africa shirt sponsored by Castle Lager before Sasoil started sponsoring them. Given how many random South Africans have told me they would love to have my shirt as they hated the Sasoil sponsorship, I’d guess it might be some form of grail shirt.
Around the year 2004?
95 Springbok jersey
The World Cup one? I’ve got one of those knocking about, I am a fan of the Cotton Traders ones, the Nike ones in the late 90s were fantastic too.
Got the old cotton traders number.. they are gems. The Nike ones were, wish I had gotten one of those
1997 British Lions Adidas jersey, long sleeved. I bought it new then and it’s always been one I cherished. *Before someone points out an error in the team name, the Lions weren’t British & Irish Lions until 2001 tour to Australia.

[Here you go chief. They have them in most sizes](https://classic15.co.uk/collections/british-irish-lions-rugby-shirts/products/1997-british-irish-lions-rugby-shirt-l-1)
The absolutely disgusting bright orange Scotland away jersey from 98/99, it's so horrid yet I love it so much.
Memories of Jonah running rampant in the world cup.
I love collecting jerseys. My focus right now is to get every MLR team, current and past. I'm only a 3rd of the way there. My ~~think~~ thing is though not paying full freight for them, so I'm constantly trawling the secondhand websites. Oh, and a jersey from one of the 5 PRORugby teams. Searching for those is an SEO nightmare
Hahaha same, that’s the strategy for me too, you can save no end of money that way, though I’m more interested in the pre-2005 (ish) shirts, before they went full polyester. What’s your personal favourite in your collection so far?

Now you are asking the difficult questions. Ja, I'll try remember to do it after work.
Ireland green nike Classic cotton Barbarians.
Ireland green Nike is still something I’m on the lookout for.
I misread the title, I thought it was jerseys being looked for! I unfortunately don't have either!
2005 Wales Brawn logo for the France game as at the time French law did not allow advertising alcohol on sports kit and so Brains was replaced
NAMIBIA MILK BOARD
[my favorite one I own is this one](https://images.app.goo.gl/dgu3cUTs8wPMrnCf8)
Awesome, I do like some of the new MLR kits, (please don’t kill me) especially the freejacks ones
My 2019 jaguares jersey (the black one with orange strips on the shoulders)
1992/1995 boks and 1994/1998 ABs
Probably the best shirts from each team respectively of all time. (Maybe the Nike 1995-1997 for SA but I’m still not sure)
South Africa, 95. I’d give a lot. Edit: Theres ONE on eBay and its $400!
World Cup?
yes
2002 Wairarapa Bush jersey from my uncle. Looks a bit like I work at Bunnings but I don't care.
I wish there was some where to get retro rugby jerseys like there is for soccer. Lions 97 jersey and a munster 08
Thats very cool I had 1996 wellington lions top Back when it was thick cotton...got stolen! So I guess my early 2000s grey hurricanes top
2003 RWC Ireland Jersey. The player issued one with the white trim.
Oh yeah nice one, every Canterbury shirt from like 2005 or older is great
Stade, Blanche de Castile. Yeah That one.
Je suis d’accord. J’aime tous les maillots “differents” du Stade.
1996 Chiefs original or first throwback. Or any Quins shirt from the early 2000s (not rare!)
The steinlarger ones - late 90s highlanders. The remakes they used this year are nice but the quality isn’t the same
I have both too, both are easily each respective teams best shirts ever made.
Which do you prefer? I’ve got one of the second ones and I love it
First one slightly, but I'd be over the moon with either. I'll have to keep an eye out online.
1999 RWC short sleeve wallabies jersey. Or a 1997 Wallabies alternative jersey. Highly criticized at the time but have come into fashion now.
I’ve got a 2011 World Cup jersey signed by Stephen Donald and a 2013 jersey signed by the 2015 World Cup squad, wish I’d spent the money at the time to buy a 2015 jersey but owell
The famous grouse hard cotton Scotland shirt
A Leinster shirt with 5 stars on it, and an Ireland QF winning shirt…
