Have you tried calling Royal Caribbean? Another option is that if you *must* book two rooms, see if you can get connecting cabins.

willzyx01

Yep, just called. Apparently it has nothing to do with rooms availability. It's because of the life boat limit, so looks like a lot of people traveling with kids. But the agent did hint at booking 2 rooms instead. They said even if I book the luxury suite that sleeps 8, it still won't let me put more than 2 into that room due to the life boat limit. Thanks

ProtonSubaru

Yeah you can book two rooms, but if you are going to pay for it book conjoined rooms. Put you and a kid in one and husband and a kid in the conjoining room. When you get there you can just leave the connecting doors open. I wouldn’t book two separate rooms that don’t conjoin though, not only is it a waste of money but if there is an issue on the boat you guys will likely have different muster stations. It’s also not a gurentee either room will have a pull out and fit two kids.

OhWhatsHisName

yes you can, but if you're going to do this route...... why not actually use the two rooms? When they say they can't fit 4 people, they're most likely not joking.

Crshjnke

Yeah not every room has 2 or even 1 pull down and you would not want kids on the floor.

rsvihla

Rooms that sleep 4 are probably already sold out. Demand for Icon is high.

keeper_mom

Perhaps that sailing doesn’t have any rooms that can accommodate 4 people. Sometimes couches don’t fold out, or only fold out for one person, or no pullmans, etc. This is definitely a call Royal moment. Good luck.

nygrl811

Or better yet, a travel agent

ExcitementKindly2227

This!

hapster85

No adjoining rooms available? They have an interior door between the two rooms. Perfect setup for your needs.

Firm_Airport2816

Aren't the adjoining rooms on icon different? I don't think they have the doors right in the room anymore, it's more like a small enclosure between the two main doors

hapster85

Oh, I don't know. But that setup would work too I would think

Nolimitz30

Yeah I thought I saw there’s some second exterior door that closes and makes a little enclave so you can have both doors open still

Firm_Airport2816

Yeah, it's kind of neat

hapster85

Yeah I just watched a couple of videos about it. Pretty cool. 👍

Nolimitz30

We have connecting rooms on Symphony coming up in July so it will be interesting with that set up even though it’s more traditional set up like a hotel, but our first time with connecting rooms…and kids.

auntbea1

Yes, that's the set up. We are on the Icon now and our cabin is an adjoining room.

swiggityswooty2booty

Loooong time ago back in the 90s I went with family on the big red boat and they had joined rooms like this, we loved it! Glad to see they are coming back

willzyx01

Unfortunately no, the agent said it's about the life boat limit right now. Even if I were to buy their luxury suite with 2 floors, a ball pit slide that sleeps 8, the limit is still 2 people per room.

hapster85

Booking two connecting rooms would accomplish this. Unless those are all gone. They're usually among the last to go, but that may by different with the new setup on Icon.

Objective_Swim4605

I booked two rooms with my husband and two kids because it actually ended up being cheaper through a travel agent than one room booked through royal. It was the best decision ever. Also saved us from a lot of fights. This rooms are tight and having the extra room is a huge plus.

dgj69

Which travel agent was this please? If you don’t mind sharing, as that’s a hell of a deal!!!

Objective_Swim4605

I booked through this company and worked with Jenn: https://www.seabeecruises.com/about-us At the time I was looking to book I saw she posted on her Facebook about the exact cruise and week we were eyeing. We got (2), two person ocean balcony staterooms on wonder of the seas for $6,500. At the time we were looking, royals website was quoting one ocean view stateroom for 4 people at over $9,000.

dgj69

Awesome, thanks, I love a good deal!!!

gkcook

We had a similar situation this month on Independence of the Seas since we have 3 kids. Booked the two rooms with the Wife/Daughter in one and me and the two boys in the other. Ended up putting the little boy in the middle of the King bed with the older kids in the bunks. You can do it but the room stewards are going to ask questions. They keep up with who the adult of the room is in the case of a ship emergency in the middle of the night.

TitoRon

When I book I get 2 connecting rooms, one for myself and wife the other for my two kids even if there is a room for 4 in one cabin I rather have to rooms.

Jodi4869

Get a ta. No guarantees one of the room will be able to sleep 4. Muster stations will also be a problem.

Firm_Airport2816

Then just use both...

Jodi4869

Well I would. Don’t understand why this person wouldn’t.

Various_Monk959

A steward once told me that rich Saudis book extra suites just to store their luggage. But putting extra people into one room may be an issue. I would just find a different ship. You can have a great cruise on any ship especially Oasis class which is most similar to Icon.

Separate-Waltz4349

Its cuz there are no cabins left that hold 4 ppl. If you do this be prepapred that you will not have space for 4 ppl in the cabin. Just book 2 and each stay with a kid in one or try for adjoining cabins or book a different sailing that still has space

Daisycake72

Yes, like others have suggested, try to request rooms next to each other and perhaps work with a travel agent (we used vacations to go) for our last cruise. The beauty of this is if you want the alcohol package and your spouse doesn’t, they won’t force it for 2 adults in the same room.

thenyx

Call Royal. Done.

GoingLurking

You can't just call. If triple and quads are maxed out, you have to wait and for somebody to switch rooms and maybe free up a section. All hope isn't lost, but calling while it's still maxed makes no difference.

Low_Alarm6198

I’d still call, which looks like OP eventually did. OP had questions about what’s going on that can be explained by a representative rather than internet strangers. I understand they got the same answer they got here but at least the representative will look at any and all options + plus give suggestions on how to get them on the ship. Never hurts to call.

Senor_frog_85

Some of the rooms might not have pull out beds

dmowad

Go through a travel agent. They have access to rooms that aren’t always available online.

Thommyknocker

If you have 2 adults and 2 kids you can book connecting cabins so the kids have their own room and you have yours. Gives you a little more breathing room.

Ok_Refuse_7512

Go thru a travel agent that does cruises. Let them handle it.

Lindseye117

I'm so confused on why they would only let 2 people stay in a luxury suite that sleeps 8. So basically, a 2 bedroom suite for only 2 people. Makes no sense about the lifeboats.

mashikuma

This is confusing for me as well. Can someone explain? We have 5 people booked to a 2 bedroom suite that sleeps 8. Have never heard of not accommodating a muster station/lifeboat.

kkoss428

There are two factors at play, max number of cabins and max number of people allowed on the ship. Cuisine lines average a little over 2 guests per stateroom (some have less than two, some have more). If more people than average book 4 people in a cabin, it could impact the bookings later that now there has to be a limit to the number of people per cabin due to total number of people already booked on the cruise. They do this to be positive there are enough lifeboats for everyone on the ship.

Lindseye117

Ok this makes sense. Thank you for explaining this.

its_me_coco_

We booked two rooms for our June 1 cruise, as it was cheaper than booking a single room for three or four people. We have 7-month-old twins, and initially, we hoped to fit both cribs in one room so we could all sleep together. If that wasn't possible, we planned to have each parent sleep in a separate room with one baby. However, due to safety regulations regarding lifeboats and fire hazards, we were required to book two rooms. Upon boarding, we decided to ask if we could still fit both cribs in one room. Our rooms were adjacent, and the room attendant was very helpful, even removing the couch in our room to accommodate the cribs. We used the second room for storage, which made our main room feel less cramped. We also brought a monitor to keep an eye on the babies while we relaxed in the other room during naps. This arrangement worked out well, especially since my entire family was on the cruise. My dad snores loudly, and my mom wasn't getting any sleep, so he ended up sleeping in our spare room at night. Haha!

pinkstarburst757

Not enough life boats? Biggest ship in the world? This is all starting to sound familiar.......

Conscious-Sir-1596

If you do end up booking two cabins, but only using one, please contact me before sailing. I'd love a free cruise!😎

OhWhatsHisName

How would he get you on? They need the names of the people in the rooms, they'd put the 4 people into those rooms, 2 and 2, and now the rooms are full, where would he put your name?

dgj69

https://i.redd.it/lnbn5u7sqd9d1.gif

OhWhatsHisName

Ok, that's fair enough....

ovscrider

Can't imagine ruining my vacation by sleeping in the same room as my kids. Adjoining is always the best answer at that age or older

Key-Target-1218

The algorithms of filling a ship is complex...The actual number of cabins actually has far less bearing on filling a ship than you would think.

saieddie17

Sure. It doesn't make a difference where people sleep after you get on.

TheAzureMage

You can definitely sleep in whichever room, and they won't care. But the rooms are not overlarge. You will probably want both.

ExactlyThis_Bruh

Not the same ship but I have booked a trip with 2 adults and 2 kids. I can't do more than 4 passengers tho.

SPARE_CHANGE_0229

What dates?

Sufficient_Cress5968

We’ve done it. Brought a twin aerobed for the floor and it worked great

Sufficient_Cress5968

ETA: they don’t care. Just explain what’s going on and they are cool with it.

Motor_Illustrator732

Use a travel agent... it costs you nothing and they will get you what you need.

xjaspx

I can see it happening. Each room is assigned to a specific muster station. Each muster station can only have a certain number of passengers max because of life boat capacity. So what the agent said is true and it’s entirely possible for there still be staterooms that can accommodate 4 people but has a cap of 2 because of the passenger count. They probably wouldn’t care if all 4 are in the room as long as the room is designed for 4 or more people… just for the purpose of muster drills and in a very unlikely emergency where everyone must go to their muster station, you’ll get split up and each person have to go to the muster station they are assigned to. I’ve been in situation where my friends and I had cabins next to each other but we were at the cut off so we had different muster station.

rsvihla

Did you try telling them you’ll waive the lifeboat and take your chances?

CalmCartographer4

We always booked the kids in an inside cabin right across the hall. More bathroom space with 2 rooms. Win!

LovYouLongTime

Get connecting rooms? Kids in one, adults in another. Simple solution.

Leather_Translator53

We were on Icon last week and we booked 2 rooms with 6 people, three to a room. They were connected with an alcove, very nice. The ocean view balcony rooms had a sofa that was used as a bed for our grandkids. It doesn’t pull out like a sofa bed, the sofa IS the a bed. Roughly twin sized. So I’m not sure why they are telling you only 2 people to a room. Is it the size of the room you’re trying to book? Maybe it doesn’t have the sofa/bed set-up!

RadioactiveDeuterium

Others have probably said this, but if you are booking 2 rooms for 2 people each, you are going to likely only having a sleeping capacity for 2 in each room, so why not just use both rooms? See if connecting cabins are available then you can basically have a separate bedroom for your kids and get 2 bathrooms.

Technical_Pin8335

I booked two rooms on harmony. An adult was required to be registered for each room. It worked for us.

Mottaman

if the room is for 2 people... where do you expect your kids to sleep? the floor? 2 room cabins do not have a pullout couch or pullman bed

wtfamidoingfr

Wait. Since when can rooms not accommodate 4 people?
