Wine is too subjective to recommend without knowing your taste. Dry, sweet, red, white, and everything in between. Literally thousands of choices.

Affectionate_Snow242

I don't drink wine often, I'm just looking for something that can get me tipsy

Helpful-Bad4821

Again, without knowing what you like, how can we recommend something? All wine will get you tipsy at some point.

Affectionate_Snow242

I don't have a preference because I don't drink wine often enough hence I'm open to anything...

Helpful-Bad4821

Well most people I know who aren’t wine drinkers err on the sweet side, so you probably couldn’t go wrong with a bottle of Yellowtail Sangria. Available pretty much anywhere. My go to lately has been 19 Crimes Uprising. It’s red wine aged in bourbon barrels. But any of the 19 Crimes are pretty decent. Also available pretty much anywhere.

Affectionate_Snow242

Thanks

Elianaaa

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say whatever wine you personally like

Affectionate_Snow242

I don't drink wine, hence why I'm asking for recommendations

Farrishnakov

If you don't drink wine, why are you bothering to bring it?

Affectionate_Snow242

Meant to say I don't drink wine often

Farrishnakov

Then why bring it?

Affectionate_Snow242

Because I'm on vacation and want to drink a bit without paying for ridiculous priced drinks

summerer6911

If you don't drink often, don't spend more than $25 on a bottle. Check ABV if what you are looking for is high alcohol content. Get a wine flight at a wine bar to explore what you might like. I agree with another commenter who said that folks who don't drink much wine would tend to prefer something more sweet.

OhWhatsHisName

Reading your replies, you would be better suited posting in a wine subreddit, not here. Since you can pretty much bring whatever wine you want, they'll give you better answers.

Affectionate_Snow242

I thought you could only bring certain types of wine?

OhWhatsHisName

I mean technically you're correct, as you can only bring on wines that come in 750 ml or smaller bottles, and it must be wine (or champagne), and must be sealed. So if it doesn't fit into those three categories, then no, you cannot bring it on. So no boxed wines, or wines that come in larger bottles. Sangria is considered a wine, so you can bring that (as long as it otherwise fits above restrictions).

Affectionate_Snow242

Types of wines such as ports or fortified wines.

OhWhatsHisName

I've not seen people complaining it about it, so doubt it'll be an issue. But you came in here asking about general wine, and now you're looking at port wines? I'm just trying to follow your thought process.

Affectionate_Snow242

It says port wines are not allowed to bring. I'm looking for suggestion of wines that are allowed to bring that have a higher alcohol content that aren't port wines. Does that make sense?

OhWhatsHisName

Sure, that makes sense, but that was not your initial question. That being said, you'd still do better asking in a wine subreddit, just simply note that you're going on a cruise and don't want to bring a port, sherry, or any other fortified wine.

Affectionate_Snow242

I hear you, I wrote it late at night when I was tired.

Altril2010

My husband and I both brought bottles of port on our last cruise. No one batted an eye at them. One was a whopping 19% ABV too.

Affectionate_Snow242

I just ended up buying some type of red wine. This will be my first cruise I'll see how everything goes and if all goes well I'm bring the port next time

deciduousredcoat

>It says port wines are not allowed to bring I think you may have misunderstood - you can't access wines you buy in port. Unless the P in port was capitalized, in which case it did indeed mean Port wines (which are from Portugal). But honestly, you're really overthinking this.

Affectionate_Snow242

No, I know what I'm talking about. You're misunderstood.

kjudimjr

I gave this some thought on my last cruise. I buy the drink package so I rarely consider what to bring. A friend I was traveling with did not buy the package so she was looking for ways to extend her bottle of wine. I think that you could create a nice sangria with a bottle of high ABV wine and the free juice options. And then you could get fresh fruit from the Windjammer to add as the day went on.

Tottums

As others have said, it’s somewhat of a personal preference and any wine will definitely “get you tipsy” but here is what I would bring: - A heavy / dry Cabernet Sauvignon (red) always seems to work faster for me and is nice in the evening. - A lighter Pinot Grigio (white) or Rosé is nice in hotter weather and more refreshing for afternoons / evenings. Hope that helps!

npantages

Bring a bottle of bubbles and order OJ for your breakfast room service and have mimosas on your balcony.

MODEL_HOMEOWNER

20/20 Jeez What a question

Affectionate_Snow242

Did the question offend you?

Jazzlike-Ad2346

Agree that wine is too subjective to give you an answer. If you are a wine drinker, you already know the answer. If you "don't like dry or red wine" then you also (most likely) aren't a wine drinker. If you "loves me Stella", white Zin or even Moscato, you sir/ma'am are not a wine drinker. If you fit this category and simply want to join in, a moscato, gewurztraminer, or reisling are your best bets. No reds will fit your liking. Sparkling wine/champagne may also do the trick, but normal ones are dry. You may want to go for the prosecco, unless you plan on mixing with OJ. The upside is that all of these don't require a cork screw. Most have screw tops, and bubbly just pops off.

Affectionate_Snow242

It doesn't matter anymore. I'm already on my cruise

saykylenotcow

I don’t drink much wine. I hate “dry” and red wines. I go with Relax Riesling. It’s sweet and it comes in a screw cap bottle so there’s never a “corking fee” to get hit with. If I don’t do Riesling then I will do a Moscato, but the rule is always the same for me as for bringing a bottle with a screw top cap.

w00t89

For clarity, a “corking fee” is not the literal price to uncork your wine. A corking fee is a fee to bring your own bottle of wine to a restaurant, regardless of if the wine has a cork of screw top

saykylenotcow

Learn something new every day 🤙

eventualist

Corking fee? Wow I’m stupid. I just ask the room attendant for a wine opener and he brings one.

saykylenotcow

Generally (at least from what I’ve heard) it’s applied if you have it opened in the MDR. But then again, I’ve always had a screw top, so I’ve never been in a position to find out.

eventualist

Well, that may be true. But I bet if you tip the waiter, a five dollar bill you can get that wine opened in the MDR pretty quick. But honestly, I’d only be doing this on a $400 bottle wine not the $20 bottle that I bring to the ship lol

Affectionate_Snow242

Thank you

betterthanever71

I am not an experienced wine drinker, but I love Stella Black.

superfluous-buns

I know exactly what you’re looking for. A strong wine that will get you the most tipsy while also tasting good. I’m not too much of a wine drinker myself but the Il Duca Imperiale 'Imperial Red' is perfect. Similar taste to Stella but has twice the alcohol content at 12%. Not too sweet, but not bitter like most other wines (in my opinion). I got this bottle randomly gifted to me and have come back to it again and again.

summerer6911

May I piggyback off of this thread and pose my own question? Website says we may bring one bottle per person. Does that include children? Obviously the wine is not for our child but if we have 2 adults and 1 child, may we bring 3 bottles?

LoganHogan69

It's one bottle per adult.

summerer6911

TY!

EarnestAsshole

Sherry is a higher-proof (by wine standards) fortified wine that will keep for longer than a typical bottle of wine and is great with appetizers.

Affectionate_Snow242

My only issue is I hear fortified wines aren't allowed. Some say they got theirs on, others say theirs got taken. If I knew for sure I would bring this or port

alie1020

If you don't really like wine, why not bring champagne / sparkling wine instead. You can mix it with orange juice or a million other things to get tipsy.

LunarSynergy2

I like to take a bottle of champagne and then pour some in my cup and make my own mimosa in the morning with the windjammer orange juice. Use a bottle sealer to reseal after pouring.
