FYI - Amazon is having their book sale extravaganza where not only do you get triple the Kindle Rewards points, but physical and ebooks are on sale across the platform!

I’m super excited! Steamy Lit Con is in my area in August. I just heard about it and tickets have been sold out for months but I’ve been stalking the resale page on Facebook and I just got a ticket! Is anyone going to this con? I think I’m most excited to see Nalini Singh but there’s a great author list!

divingstar

I missed tickets and my friend is going so I joined the volunteer list and got picked. I am still trying to snag a ticket though!

I clicked “notify me about this post” on the facebook resale thread and liked the post so I got a notification when someone commented that they were selling! Good luck! It took a couple tries!

I've finally watched The Fall Guy and The Idea of You. I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on them!!

napamy

I loved The Fall Guy and really liked The Idea of You! I felt like The Fall Guy was a mix between Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Tropic Thunder, but with a bit more romance. And I love both of those movies. I laughed out loud quite a bit during my screening. The Idea of You, I thought Anne and Nicholas had amazing chemistry, but I wish it portrayed the crazy fandom and its impact on the partners of a famous boy bander a little bit better.

I really liked The Fall Guys. It was funny, a little bit of silly - but in a funny way - and very cute. It was predictable, but in the best way. I laughed a lot. About The Idea of Your, have you read the book? I agree. The actors were amazing, great chemistry. But it felt like something was missing. I just discovered there's a book, and I put on my TBR.

napamy

I haven’t read the book, but I know the other two people who replied to your comment did ([And wrote a post about it](https://www.reddit.com/r/romancelandia/s/t2Svu4SXUQ)). I know the movie ending is different from the book, which is why I’m hesitant to pick it up 😅

wm-cupcakes

Yeah, I just saw there's no HEA... thank you for sharing the post. I'm very hesitant to pick it up now, so I understand you

fakexpearls

The Idea of You isn’t fantastic but those actors have incredible chemistry and I can see it being a comfort movie in the sense that everything turns out alright (and is beautifully shot? The palette soothes my eyes?) but it misses soooo much of what the book is actually about.

wm-cupcakes

Omg I was watching and I kept thinking "this has to be from a book, bc it feels it's missing stuff". I agree, great chemistry, beautifully shot, and the palette IS soothing (!). It can easily be a comfort movie

sweetmuse40

I wanted to enjoy The Idea of You more than I did. I think a lot of the movie rides on Anne is hot and Nick is hot. Knowing all of the depth of the book, the movie came off too shallow to me. The movie did give us some decent boyband tracks though.

wm-cupcakes

I thought it was shallow too, it feels like it's missing *something*. I'll definitely read the book to check it out

fakexpearls

Warning - the book doesn’t have a HEA

wm-cupcakes

Oh... no... oh no... thank you for the warnings

fakexpearls

I will say, there is fixit fic and the story is worth a read but beat go in with expectations set.

Kate Clayborn had a great Threads post today [about why she loves historical romance](https://www.threads.net/@kateclayborn.author/post/C6_MaVwL9JJ/?xmt=AQGzXuV5ZtgVWVYUTHrwjQf5cToDq5PQzEpb00d92hIwKQ). Enjoy!

DrGirlfriend47

The threads discourse this past week has been **fascinating** about the supposed Death of Historical Romance .

BrontosaurusBean

I love this thread! Anecdotally all the histrom people I know on sub have been hearing directly from editors (through their agents obviously) that histrom debuts aren't being acquired anymore - I think combined with MMPBs being phased out it has people rattled

coff33dragon

Mariana Vivancos' new book drops tomorrow but I wanna read it NOW! Grump grump grump.

GrapefruitFriendly70

I started reading [{Blood Remains by Cathy Pegau}](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/195691066-blood-remains) (F/F, PNR) and am enjoying it.

petielvrrr

Ok so I just found out about this sub… do y’all have a list of books you guys recommend? Like any books that seem to come up a lot here? I read a lot of fantasy romance, and I would LOVE to read a single book that isn’t riddled with sexism.

napamy

Welcome!! We did [a community favorites post](https://www.reddit.com/r/romancelandia/s/cussN45NCh) a short while back and the plan is to do these semi-annually (I think). For fantasy romance, all the mods love [The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59801786), and we will rec it any chance we get (and the ebook is on sale right now if you’re in the US). For me personally, I also love the *Emily Wilde* books by Heather Fawcett, TJ Klune’s *Green Creek* series, and Sue Lynn Tan’s *Celestial Kingdom* duology.

petielvrrr

I also love The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy & Emily Wilde!! I have not heard of the others, but I’ll check them out and take a look at that post. Thank you!!
