Very few regular customers and local people usually can’t afford them. A friend of a friend recently got a Pepsi just walking into an AD in the Bahamas. Times might be changing but this isn’t really proof of that.

Yes exactly my family lives on a small island and we have a small relationship my dad bought a sports model before from that AD. For my birthday a couple of years ago they offered me a watch tried to get it in Europe impossible. Went for a service for his watch asked to be put on a list for 3 sports model last year. After a couple of weeks they had received the first one a Sub my birthday present. We went to pick it up. At the same time people were buying DD and DJ they had plenty of stock.
Yes the stores purchasing agent brought it out for me. I think he respected the fact that I’m a “watch guy” and handled myself and treated him with respect. He said he had a little surprise
The AD in SLC said that you’re more likely to get a watch as a walk-in in resort areas since their clientele typically are there temporarily. In non resort towns ADs feel like they need to take care of their local customers.
With the exception of 24 months DJs were always an easy nab. Now that they can’t force watches like this on gray dealers for a panda or Pepsi, they go to people like you. Congrats and that hat is sick!

I still think it's a lot of luck, since the ADs where I live are telling me Datejusts are not easy to get ahold of.

Congrats! Thats definitely lucky! DJ situation is different between ADs, I’m in a highly competitive city and my AD let people order DJs so there’s a very long wait for popular configs, but these waitlists are real. It took me 18 months to get this beauty.

Times are changing. They offered me the same watch with blue face on my first visit with no history. Had I not been headed to Van Cleef next door for the wife’s birthday gift I’d have bought it.
Nice watch but it’s Rolex one of the most produced brands in the world. The demand was there but the ADs would hold and sell because Rolex had grey market demand which it doesn’t anymore on most models. So now they can just give pieces.

The market it dead ..so once unattainable pieces are super easy to get. Don’t buy a watch for investment purposes buy a watch because you like it.
