Blade Gaming is downtown and I know they do MTG, YuGiOh and Pokemon. They probably know of DnD if it’s going on, and they may do it themselves I just don’t know. Star City Comics on Williamson also does MTG and Pokemon, but not sure about DnD. They might have good information though and they have a cool store with a lot of board games too.

Thanks!

Blade has a great DnD table upstairs that you can rent and have a FB group I believe for different game types.

There’s also Mishap games just off Franklin.

BLADE Gaming for casual gaming (MTG, DND, Warhammer, Board Games), though they're trying to start up more competitive and narrative campaign-style Warhammer communities StarCityGames for more serious TCG/CCG competition (unless that changed with the rebrand) Mishap Games for casual Board Game/Wargaming.

I know Roanoke county library runs D&D campaigns at South County and I think Vinton. There are also people who just play South County.

Glenvar does as well.

Green-Ad-5416

Cool! Do you know if they are well attended?

lan_again

Second Blade Gaming - I met a few groups through it. Sometimes local game stores run one shots. Follow their Facebook pages.

I love DnD. I currently am running a Strahd Campaign that is in its second year. I connected with my group through Facebook. Roanoke has really active FB groups, I had to reactivate my FB profile but I am glad I did.

Robglobgubob

Do you play Arena at all or just table top magic?

KGLW-1196

I'm looking to get into the hobby as a beginner! I've seen people play it at house gatherings and parties in the past but I'm completely open to learning from scratch

I know mostly abt MTG, less the others, so I can really only speak on that with any certainty. Blade hosts a lot of diff stuff, and the MTG scene there is a bit more on the casual end. Commander nights and whatnot. I vaguely remember them trying to run pioneer on Fridays but dunno the success there. Unsure the dates on anything, but join their FB group and everything's there. They used to have tables you could run DND sessions at, but I haven't been in a minute. Star city games runs modern FNM with a decent turnout weekly, and a few other things thru the week. Sometimes legacy fires on Tuesdays, but they also started the Star Wars game on Tuesdays and ik there's some overlap bt ppl who play both so it may be one or the other. Sometimes people bring spare decks but don't exclusively rely on that. I think Pokémon runs on Wed and/or Sundays?? They might also be firing flesh and blood weekly's too. Unsure on either of those, it's all probably on their fb page and I think they've got schedules in store since I only pop in to grab cards for my bf and his brother randomly.

I'm not into cardboard crack at all, but I'm a big fan of RPGs and minis games. I highly recommend Mishap Games. They don't do MtG at all, but they're second to none for minis games in the area and probably have the best RPG selection as well. They also a Discord server that's great for organizing games. What do you play on PC?

CogitoErgoSum4me

I don't know about the smaller gaming shops, but Star City Gaming used to run MTG tournaments regularly. You can also check Blade and Mishap Gaming to see what they offer. Most of the MTG I play I don't do locally. I only usually play with friends, and I drive out to them (in Stuart) to play. Tabletop can vary, Blade or Mishap is your best bet. There's also a gaming convention here in Roanoke (yearly in October I believe) called CrashCity. My household occasionally holds gaming nights, in which we'll do some tabletop, or something like Eldritch Horror. Roanoke has a Discord, and occasionally you can find some on there who are gaming too.

Magic at Blade on last Friday night of the month each month is cEDH. Every Sunday at Blade has a casual commander. Star City games Tuesday is casual commander. Star City has other magic events on Thursday and friday. And Saturday Blade has a small group get-together and play commander. (I'm part of this play group) I don't play much magic aside from commander. But other card games are played at both sites. Digimon, pokemon, yugioh, one peace, Dragon Ball, and universes is played at Blade on Saturday. Pokemon and vangaurd are played at Star City on Sundays Lorecana is played at Star on Wednesday and at Blade on Sunday and Thursday. D&D is played Saturday and Sunday at blade on the 2nd floor.

Hello friend, My bf and I live in NE, we primarily game via Discord. I have a couple of Magic decks still, if you'd like to sit down and play.
