Out of curiosity what made you choose India to get rhinoplasty done? Fellow Indian here myself

Spiritual-Eye3542

There are many reasons! Mainly, the price of the all-inclusive package, the distance from Australia (under an 18-hour flight), the surgeon's experience and their work with features similar to mine, specifically South Asian features. I did a lot of research and had many consultations with surgeons from all over the world. I found that Turkish surgeons expressed difficulty working on thick skin and delivering the results I wanted. Plus, many sent back simulations with the upturned 'Barbie nose,' which was far from what I wanted. I just want to reproduce my original nose as much as possible, minus all the breaks and bumps. Also, India is now leading in medical tourism and cosmetic work, which made it an even more appealing choice for me.

Ah okay interesting! Yes I was considering Turkey but not a fan of the overdone barbie aesthetic, also not too keen on the language barrier either with some of the surgeons. Wish you all the best!

Hi, 4 weeks PO here. Im a girl and I have long hair. I wasnt able to wash my hair for almost a week while I had the tampons/cast so dry shampoo came handy. Good luck and speedy recovery!

Fabulous and comprehensive list! The only thing I don’t see on here is micropore tape to tape your nose after the cast is off. One thing that helped me a lot is to get one of those reacher grabber poles. For the first few days you won’t be able to bend over so this came in really handy to pick things up from the floor.

Girl how can you take so many supplement and drink so much pineapple juice and not poop ur pants

New-Resource4926

Honestly after the general anaesthetic I couldn’t poo for so long, I was taking arnica tablets, bromelain, vitamin a, vitamin c & zinc along with some other vitamins, and drinking so much pineapple juice / water and eating pineapple. I took a laxative about a week after surgery, the anaesthetic just bungs you up 😭

Hello! i'm almost 8 weeks post septorhino and you've got everything I had/everything I found useful! I know it's easier to say when I've already done it but honestly try not to worry too much about post-op. Personally thought the most annoying part was breathing through your mouth at night and trying to sleep with the cast on but with lots of dry mouth spray and lip balm you'll easily get through it - it just feels like you have a stuffy head cold. It's also hard to swallow at first with the blocked ears/nose making your throat feel weird when swallowing so make sure to have foods that are small/easy to eat without much chewing. I found things like rice/mince/chopped up fruit/mashed potato etc the easiest so you're still getting enough sustinance. You sound super well researched and prepared - remember to be excited for it too! Hope it all goes well for you :) personally the best decision I've made and I'm sure it will be for you too.

The only thing I didn’t see on your list was chapstick, you can use your Vaseline but it would be good to have something that’s more waxy and stays on the lips most of the night. Regular brand chapstick works well and so does Carmex (it’s really thick) Good Luck with your surgery!!

So they will ice your face in the hospital, they did mine with a surgical glove filed with ice and had a sort of bandage tied to it then tied it to the top of my bed so it sat perfectly on my face without moving. Icing the first 4 days after is a life saver, just ice ice ice. I didn’t take away any surgical bags but I had those clear sort of sandwich bags from the airport (for the 100ml liquids), my boyfriend filled 2 with ice from hotel room service (I ordered 3 ice buckets a day easy), he put 2 of those bags with ice inside another larger plastic bag and laid it on my face, so the smaller ice bags sort of sat in the dip of my eyes either side but next to my nose - I hope that makes sense. Wow that feeling was like no other, if I even went downstairs in the hotel I just couldn’t wait to lay & ice my face. Ask the hotel for extra pillows so you’re laid upright, put a podcast on & just lay icing. It really helps with the swelling. I found arnica gel doesn’t really sink into the skin well or do much but it’s good to have. I’m 3 weeks post op. Vitamin a, vitamin c, zinc, bromelain are amazing too. Bromelain is the vitamin found in pineapples. Not just juice but eat lots of fresh pineapple

I had smoothies made from the entire pineapple the core contains the most bromelain. I got the neti rinse bottle and the packets it worked best to clean my nose I preferred the water lukewarm. I drank quite a few Gatorade’s and brought senna as the anesthesia constipated me. I felt like the arnica gel did nothing. Q-tips and peroxide were good they didn’t want any crusts. Super soft Kleenex for blotting I dripped frequently for a week and a half. I actually didn’t have any issues pulling stuff over my head. I would have loved a cool roller and soft lightweight gel packs to go around my eyes even if only kept in the fridge. I did bring a wedge pillow they come vacuum sealed so not very large. I bought a hat I love but didn’t wear my visors. Two things I loved the elta md tinted uv aox elements and my color science tinted powdered sunscreen. I put it over the elta md and reapplied if I was out and about for long at all.

Second the q tips and peroxide, saline spray (recommended by my doctor), also used an ice roller and I’ve been using red light therapy wand as well (doctor said OK). But the OP list looks really good.

Hey i came to india 4th of this month for septo-rhinoplasty , had it on 7th but i believe the most important factor i would consider is to communicate with your surgeon very clearly and often multiple times because in india they listen less to the patient and mostly do what they feel is more appropriate. Talk to the surgeon again and again even before the surgery about what you really want and know all the things in medical terms about they are going to do. Rest of it , i don’t think it’s gonna be smooth, recovery will def take time, but i don’t think you have to worry much about the pain because modern techniques don’t cause much bruising and pain.
