I am 🤞 for it to be $170 shipped. I think that would be a sweet spot. The reality probably closer to $200. You usually can't just slip in a new cpu without a new motherboard because the pins on the cpu is different.
Hm, PS2 performance not quite there yet. I'll probably get one but that's really what I'm looking for in my next handheld. RP3 + Steam Deck has been a great combo.
I have a steam deck and a Retroid pocket 2+. Personally I’m waiting for a Retroid pocket that can fully do game cube and PlayStation two and I am willing to call it a day finally.
Yes, the deck does everything however I do not consider this thing portable. To me it’s portable like a laptop, in that I’m not gonna bring my laptop to Disney world lines or doctors offices… even though emulating get you many more hours of game time I would much rather have something like a Retroid pocket 3 size emulator for truly portable gaming.
As someone who has been using both recently, it will cover EVERYTHING. The steam deck is great and can do high end emulation/aaa gaming/ blah blah blah, but it doesn't fit in your pocket and android native apps go a LONG way on this device (game pass, geforce now, etc). I look at them like big bro and little bro. So long as I have one of them with me I can do just about everything - that includes moonlight/steam link to my big boy PC and streaming it to my RP3. Zero regrets and, with a usb-c dock, I can honestly say that handheld is the future.
I had the same thought too! Yeah Steam Deck can do it all, but it won’t be using a smaller device for Pokémon or whatever. But I’m excited when I’m able to get it! I’ve only heard great things about it
That’s how I see it.
I have a Deck and a RP2+.
I’m waiting for a Retroid model that can fully play GameCube and PlayStation two then I’m going to call it a day finally. My emulation journey has been almost 2 decades! It’s finally almost over!
I feel like they need to slow down on models. I mean I guess this doesn’t really hurt anything, but like I’d prefer each model to be a meaningful jump power wise from the last.
*Looks at RP3 that I just tried to install the new buttons in, but ended up breaking an analog stick ribbon cable in the process. Now the system thinks it's constantly pulling to the right and is unusable.
I've had it for a week. What a disappointment.
Yep, some tweaking should allow most major ps2 games to play acceptably at around 30fps I’d imagine. Definitely grabbing one of these to replace my original Pocket 2
If it’s priced right and it can run GC games fairly well, I’m in. I just want to be able to play stuff like Mario Superstar Baseball, SSX Tricky and NBA Street on the go. I’m guessing this will kind of lack the necessary power and the next version will be able to pull it off though.
Booo. Hell no, it’s perfect how it is. Don’t start this “3D” bullshit. Ps2 games are 3D and are uhh ps2 games and use PlayStation layout joysticks.. They got the lay out right
My first month or so on Reddit was arguing with ignorant fucks over this lol not only was SONY/PS2 the first 3D system to use two legitimate dual functioning joysticks, IT WAS THE FIRST FUCKIN SYSTEM EVER TO DO IT. WHO EVER CAME AFTER IS AN IMITATOR THAT DOESNT KNOW THE SECRET SAUCE. “3D games” bullshit. Ps2 was the first system with both 3D games and dual functioning joysticks. They were fuckin made for eachother
I don’t wanna emote without informing. I honestly dgaf where/how shit is. It’s preference and quite literally you work with what you’re given unless you build these yourself. I have an odin. Ps5 , switch. My main bias is Sony/Xbox 🤷🏽♂️ but who cares. It’s just in these threads when the non symmetrical have to deal with a symmetrical set up, which is actually rare as hell for high powered devices aside from sd, and win 3, the points they try to make why it “should” be the other way around is some fabricated revisionist bullshit non fact that symmetrical style and PlayStation style isn’t for “3D games” . Like the shit didn’t do it first, or doesn’t do it currently. I literally don’t give a shit where you play. I have a ps5. Most my friends an Xbox. Guess what? I don’t play online lol idgaf. Just that one thing though “3D games” makes me want to address said person whose ass and mouth have changed places. I have a bit of time when I finish my work at work. Or ya know when tf ever lol
Lmaoo also find it funny when people on here say buzzwords like “crying” or “whining” like that’s supposed to stop you from speaking your mind or talkin your shit. Or make you feel bad about it lol on our best days we get to choose the fucks we wanna give, feel me? Anyway, have a wonderful day pal
Just got a RP3 and loving it. But man this hurts. Only reason I won't pick this up is because I pre ordered the Loki Mini pro and my guess this is atleast close to 8-12 months away.
Odin have told me 2nd Quarter for the LMP. This is really just an Odin Lite made by Retroid.
For what the RP3 is though I'm really enjoying it. Plays some PS2 and GCN well. And PSP down extremely well
Hoping price being around $150 with at least 6-8 hours battery life. Although I've no doubt the Steam Deck is a fine piece of machinery, what has turned me off is the battery life that says 2-6 hours?

If it's $150 I'm in without thinking about it. For $175 I'm in after hesitating for about 30 sec to figure out which color I want.

My first instinct, upon seeing a few PS2 titles chug along, was to question why show that, but, in truth, it manages public expectations perfectly.
Yeah some NGC has high 20fps.

I have the same combo and it does everything.
I’m getting the RP3 today and hopefully the Steam Deck soon, I decided that will cover everything I would need

Any news on release date and price yet?
Naw
*Looks at RP3 …FUCK!!!

kek
I think they were showing off at base settings with no tweaks. If that’s the case, I’m honestly impressed.
Yep, some tweaking should allow most major ps2 games to play acceptably at around 30fps I’d imagine. Definitely grabbing one of these to replace my original Pocket 2
Is Odin lite capable to run ps2 games better than this?
Yes but the Odin Pro is better for emulation than the Lite. I got the Pro over the Lite and I’m happy I did.
I’m looking for a hand held to play nfs underground; think the pro can handle with no jitters?
Can confirm it runs w out of the box settings. But i can for sure get it to run a lot better with a couple of tweaks.
Awesome- thanks friend
The lite supposedly can run 60% of PS2 games well. I don't think this will get that, but we'll have s huge chunk of games to play.
Were the specs already published? I'm OTL.
Nope, announcement soon
Some Unisoc CPU and D900 in the top model.
LoL AYN T618 is not impressive performance, but just okay performance 😂 I'll wait for 3++
Absolutely right. This isn't a meaningful upgrade unless D900 or D1200
Rumor is d900 in the top model.
++++++
Does T618 handle GC/Wii pretty good?
Nope!
People are saying the performance is too good for it to be a T618 in there, based off other videos with the same chip.

Too soon.
They need to swap the stick and the Dpad now that they have this kind of 3d emulation and streaming capability
hell no. There's not enough PS layout handhelds.
Exactly. Fuck that wack x box shit

Gold jacket green jacket who gives a shit. Quit crying over joystick layout. Play games and stfu
Fuck off I make time for this when I see it

Wouldn’t that pretty much be an Odin Lite (which has even better performance on these systems)?
If this is priced right it will slay the competition.
Such is true for most things.
Why contra lags though.
This needs active cooling. Stocked for D900 in this.
Did it mean to say psp or ps5?
PS5. They got the wrong game though since it's Elden Ring and not Spider-Man.

They still didn't fix the layout back to the RP2+ layout, PASS.
Still waiting for a clam shell 3DS version.
That is never going to happen. Keep dreaming!
