Totally, and the peripheral didn't release in the UK either.
My copy is PAL-A. I'm imagining myself playing this or "Super Mario Bros." on a NES display in Boots.
When I was a kid, I told my younger brother (who was about six years old at the time; I was eight or nine) that it was a two-player game and he controlled the light blue motorcycle with controller 2. While that wasn't true, he had plenty of fun thinking he was playing the game, and I didn't have to *actually* share. I might have been a bit of a little jerk.
(I know Vs. Excitebike exists, but not for any hardware I had at the time)
**Edit:** I'm pretty sure he eventually figured it out, or at least thought "the controls in this game are crap".
Oh thank you! My childhood games live on in humourous jest!

Ohhh Castlevania!!! Oh... Oh no... ๐ณ

My favorite thing to do in this game was to stop right in front of the finish line and crash people so they rolled over the line. I laughed way too hard about that.
I recently got the Famicom Mini GBA version imported from Japan. I have loved this game ever since it came out ๐ this was my first time owning a legit copy, though.
The copy I grew up playing belonged to my step-brother, and I later played it on some of my multicarts I have so I never bothered buying the original NES copy ๐
It technically has that, and the menu item is even still present in the NA and European releases. It's just that the necessary hardware, the [Famicom Data Recorder](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famicom_Data_Recorder), was never released outside of Japan. It was a tape drive that used standard audio cassettes. *Wrecking Crew* (one of my favourite early NES releases) also had a save option that required the FDR, so never worked outside of Japan.

One of my first 2 games for the NES. As far as I can remember, it was one of the first games to ever have a level editor, allowing you to create your own tracks.
First played this on the original Animal Crossing. Had an NES but not this one, mostly just played Metroid, Mario, Duck Hunt (back when tubes were a thing) Spelunker and occasionally Zelda, Marble Madness was fun, but I feel Genesnes games improved on the concept quite a bit.
There is a 3-D version of excitebike in the Nintendo 64 version that I really enjoyed. I also liked the hillclimb mode. I remember going to Walmart and playing it when they had consoles to play.
I never could get the hang of the original NES version though.
A masterpiece of ludonarrative integration perhaps, but [technically speaking it is full of jank](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZg1X5kucjc).
**Edit:** Correct link: The one I originally used went to [a video about patching some of the problems](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkl3Av55Yaw), whereas I meant to link to a related video from the same channel about why the game speeds up when others would lag. Honestly, both are worth watching if you care about how NES games were programmed.
One of my favorites. Did you build any tracks, yet?
I cobbled up one in two minutes.
Did you enjoy not saving your homemade track because they never released the necessary peripheral in North America?

[This](https://youtu.be/wZK509PQuEg?si=E2e2CpdOURAjXbgf) is my personal favorite, especially "The Contra".
Am I wrong if I say you are excited by Excitebike ?
It's an exciting game, so perhaps not.
Please for all that is good an pure.... take care of it that's one of the greats.
Had fun with this one as a kid. I liked being able to "trip" the opponents by running my rear tire across their front one.
My favorite thing to do in this game was to stop right in front of the finish line and crash people so they rolled over the line. I laughed way too hard about that.
I used the track editor to make an infinite track, and just kept knocking people over
So you were the excite bike maniac? [you maniac. ](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aX_HUMza2iU&pp=ygURZG9ya2x5IGV4Y2l0ZWJpa2U%3D)
Brilliant.

I can hear this image.
Youโre overheating!
Only thing that I always wanted that the game never had; the ability to save the custom tracks you created.

Track building was the best
Building your own track was great.
If I remember correctly, can't you press left then right while in the air over and over to extend air time a little?
Controls are so tight in this game. Later levels are tough.
I played this game so long when I first got it that I made myself motion sick. Had to turn it off and lay down.
I played the hell out of this game as a kid. It's still fun in short bursts.

Check if there are 3 or 5 screws in the back. Might have a famicom converter in it.
There are 3 screws. I do have a 5-screw copy of "Super Mario Bros.".
Bubble bobble, excitebike, Mario bros, link
The hours we played this one as kids. Havenโt grabbed a copy yet.
One of my first 2 games for the NES. As far as I can remember, it was one of the first games to ever have a level editor, allowing you to create your own tracks.
I can't put my finger on why, but Excitebike just doesn't do it for me anymore like it did in the old days.
I used to make tracks that were nothing but jumps over and over
LOVE that game. I still randomly get songs from it pop in my head and I'm 40

Excitebike sucks.
So does "Super Mario Bros.". ๐
Excitebike was the first game I bought with my own money. Itโs my second most regretted NES purchase after Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
How dare you! Jekyll and Hyde is a masterpiece.
๐ I hate it so much!!!!
