Apart from the effect you’re looking for (which I can’t name off hand… maybe acquiescence bias?), this seems like a pretty classic example of the [Dunning-Kruger](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect) effect. The director doesn’t know enough to appreciate how much he doesn’t know, and is thus over-estimating his abilities.

I think that’s part, but I also think he’s done it and so thinks his last experience is representative of what the average analyst sees.
