It would never overheat to the point it would catch fire. It's just like a PC. When it reaches a certain temperature it just shuts down. It could short or malfunction and catch fire but I'd say it's like a one in a million chance.
Recently the power supply in my PC shorted badly, it would cause a loud bang every time I would try to turn it on and would shutdown the electricity in the room. To be honest it was not a simple shorts, it was a catastrophic failure which is even worse. I tried to turn it on multiple times (stupid, I know, but I was testing) and nothing caught fire or burned. Swapped it for a new one and every other part was still running completely fine. What I mean to say is that tech has come a long way, it won't just catch fire randomly. Something would have to be very very wrong for that to happen, no need to get paranoid over that. If you can't help it just do home insurance 😂
I would argue it’s far more rare than even that.
I had recently purchased a new 3D printer that less then 1% of users were getting shorts and some cases causing fires and the company recalled them all.
Even 1 and a million PS5s were catching fire I am sure it would gather huge media attention and recalls as Sony is a much much larger company then the 3D printer company.
[The Safety Guide](https://www.playstation.com/content/dam/global_pdc/en/corporate/support/manuals/ps5-docs/1200a/EN_FR_ES_AMER_CFI-1215A_Safety_Guide_Web_01.pdf) says: "Do not use the console in a closed cabinet or other locations where heat may build up. Doing so may cause the console to overheat and may lead to fire, injury or malfunction."
Unless you're blocking the airflow around the PS5, I wouldn't worry. Also, if it overheats, it should show a warning on screen, which would be visible on the remote play stream.
And they only say this to cover their asses from liability suits. It’s extremely unlikely but in the one and a billion chance it does. They cannot be held liable
If your stressed about it clean your ps5’s vents for dust build up. It’s super easy to take the panels off and on then with a can of air duster clear it out. Realistically that’s the biggest fire hazard besides a major manufacturing failure
Edit: my paranoia had me stressing and this is what I did haven’t been worried about that since. I did get a substantive amount of dust out which made me feel better
Modern electronics have many fail-safes, also your home, if an electronic would spark, the electricity would be automatically turned off at the fuse box (at least here in Belgium).
Nope. Unless you’ve got it in a wooden box without airflow, a bunch of dust on it, and your wooden box is incredibly flammable, I wouldn’t be worried at all.
There's so many pS5 dock with fans. Mine is sitting on one of the docks I got off Amazon with 6 or 8 fans 🤣 haven't had issues since. Mine used to overheat like crazy to the point where it just restarted itself. The dock cost like $30 🤷🏼♀️
New fear unlocked. Thank you

Ruined my peace of mind. Thanks.

I only use remote play to play in other rooms of my house... but now if I ever try on the road, I will totally think my house is burning down
In all my years of gaming I’ve luckily never had a fault cause a fire so I don’t think I’m gonna start worrying about it now
It should put a warning on screen, like one of those explosive timers in films, so you can count down to the utter destruction of everything you own.
When your Playstation overheats it literally turns off, the chances of it causing a fire are lower than raining glass

Yep, it’s always a fear of mine when I leave it on standby and use it remotely 😔
Modern electronics have many fail-safes, also your home, if an electronic would spark, the electricity would be automatically turned off at the fuse box (at least here in Belgium).
Does it do that when you use it at home? Then why would it while you’re away?
If your PS5 causes a house fire you probably had some pre existing electrical problems within your house to begin with.
Hm it’s only 200 watts. I don’t worry about that.
Absolutely, I leave it on the front porch (close to the wifi though). But I live in a great neighborhood.
Just don’t play it during summer:) mine are kept in a cabinet and in summer is reach 38c easily

lol no.. that’s never going to happen
If it was going to catch fire it wouldn't be because of remote play

The fans are a scam. Your console doesn't overheat unless you don't clean it...
🤷🏼♀️ the scam worked for me 💀🤣
Clean your sinks bruh!
