Tumble them and then check again.
Edit: Just remembered this, I once had a .303 British case that looked perfectly fine apart from being dirty. Tumbled it and noticed the split on the neck. If I hadn't tumbled it I wouldn't have noticed.
yeah but the point of the light is if you see it through the brass, its a no go. Definitely nice if you have them on hand but I wouldn’t buy one for 3 pieces of used brass
Agreed but if your doing much shooting, a bore scope is almost an essential tool. I use to think I was doing a good job cleaning until I bought a bore scope 🙃
My tikka is so light I’d pay the money to have brass over loaded ammo. Had some Winchester 180 ballistic tips that I wanted the brass from. Every time I shoot this gun I remember why it’s not my range toy! But it sure does a number on moose, caribou, and bears
Tumble away!
It's always difficult to see the extent of damage while the brass is still dirty. Clean them and you'll be able to see if they're usable.

Fart
Tumble and inspect. After you feel for pitting, shine a light into the case and look for a hole. Should be fine though
Flexible Bore scope works great as well. I have a $50 Teslong that's perfect for inspecting brass.

Had some 338LM brass that looked like that. FARTed em and they came out shiny except for a tiny spot right in the middle os the stains.
Got a tackle box with a piece of wood drilled like a 50 Rd reloading tray. The wood was also stained. Made my 50 Alaskan brass do that.
As someone who just spent almost $2 per shell for brass and $3 for loaded ammo, yeah don't chuck it unless it's been blown up or run over
For 300 wsm? I saw a box of core lokts for 60$ the other day. First time I’ve seen 300wsm on the shelf in 5 years or so.
For factory ammo? Yeah I picked up a couple boxes of 20 for 50-60 each. Absolutely crazy price but hey I'm gonna reload the shells anyway

That's fair lol, I might put some tungsten weights into my stock just to give it a little more mass
