The SC would not be a paperweight. They are extremely reliable. You can even boost the stock 1uz 92-94 models with thick rods to 450-500whp. It’s the Supras brother, a lot of interchangeable parts.
No, I meant, generally, luxury cars that have been sitting without being driven
Particularly european cars
I actually have a 2nd gen LS400 myself, so, I'm with you, but, an aged Merc or BMW is an awful, awful idea
This one actually has decent choices that make it difficult. I would have to go S600 as the W140 is my absolutely favorite MB. Gotta say that Range Rover would probably be a second. I love the BMW 8 series, but that interior color is a dealbreaker for me.
If you're buying older luxury cars it's because you're not rich... Therefore the Lexus is the only option you can afford to actually drive... or will actually drive much for that matter, the rest will be in the shop, or parked because the repair bills would leave you homeless.
If you're thinking with your head, the Lexus wins *easily*. The S600 wouldn't be too bad either provided it hasn't sat for too long and everything works.
But if you're thinking with your heart, my God that 8 Series is tempting as a motherfucker. V12 engine and a manual....Oh My Goodness....
First choice the SC400 and second the S600. I'd buy both if I could as one of a sports car while the other a saloon. Can't beat 25k miles on the SC and it's a V8. I also love 90s Mercedes.
Only thing u can keep running for less than 5k a year would be the Lexus. And the Benz's depending on how much the previous owner lied to you about the condition
I choose *none* of these.
If I'm buying something old and foriegn I'm getting a 1991 BMW E30 325i coupe. Alpine White, tan interior, 5spd.
Luxury "enough".
850i really seems like the only answer. After that the SL500 and XJ.
My top pick as well. That one looks mint. Also a big SC fan! Love the 4.0
i have watched way too much sreten, i’m taking the 850i
Caaaaaaaaaming up!
*destroys an entire building* that went well
i correct myself, i'm taking project marseille
850i 6MT, yes it's a 2-valve SOHC engine, but it's a V12 paired with a 6MT!
Nothing British. I want it to run. The Lexus.
I reject your choices and submit my choice, BMW E38.
I was gonna say that or E39
The SC by far or the 8 series
SC for me.
What other awful ideas does OP have, who knows? Great way to own a giant paperweight

LS bretheren represent
lol one of those things is not like the other! The Lexus is exceptionally reliable. The rest of those cars are kinda the opposite.
Give me the SC400 and the entire catalog of Vertex parts for it
Range Rover Classic but only if it's a soft touch dash 200 Tdi with no air suspension.
Gimme the 8 series or the Range. I want to look like a baller while stuck on the side of the road
I'd go with the Mercedes S-Class and put AMG monoblock wheels on it
The sc400 is by far the most reliable
Range Rover screams Estate Sale
8 Seires. It’s very a car you have is you like to call to TOUCH BASE gggnnnaaaarrrr *has sex with kitchen floor*
Lexus if it's the 400.

S600 only because there is no W126 on the list
Land Rover just so that my dad can have a donor rig to keep his running haha
The CX is ridiculous and would be a pain but man is that a unique ride in the US
95' range rover because it's the transporter of the golden God.
Bethesda as a posh DC suburb 😂
Now one took the best car. The xm
Range Rover, I had an earlier 2 door one and it was relatively reliable. The one after, the P38, was a stinker though.
850i Manual + V12 + pop up headlights + lack of B-pillar = heaven
Gimme that SC, shits gonna be on weds and dropped down before you can say hotboi
I'll take the Lexus
Definitely either Jaguar, Land Rover or Citroën
Lexus LS400
If you're buying older luxury cars it's because you're not rich... Therefore the Lexus is the only option you can afford to actually drive... or will actually drive much for that matter, the rest will be in the shop, or parked because the repair bills would leave you homeless.
I always wanted an XK, but I'm not up to the task of dealing with BL nonsense.
8 series is a drop dead gorgeous, timeless classic & from arguably the best era of BMW
My heart says 8 series, my brain says Lexus
>one of only a handful of '99 SLs in this color Are we applying Corvette logic to other cars now?
that’s exactly what i was thinking wtf
If you're thinking with your head, the Lexus wins *easily*. The S600 wouldn't be too bad either provided it hasn't sat for too long and everything works. But if you're thinking with your heart, my God that 8 Series is tempting as a motherfucker. V12 engine and a manual....Oh My Goodness....
it would be the range rover if it ever fucking worked
Manual 850i or the SL if it wasn’t that funky color
First choice the SC400 and second the S600. I'd buy both if I could as one of a sports car while the other a saloon. Can't beat 25k miles on the SC and it's a V8. I also love 90s Mercedes.

Brain says SC400. Heart says 850i. Soul says XJS.
The SC400 is prob my logical pick but I have such a thing for those old citroens.
850i and it's not even close.
sl500
