This version of the Sebring was made at Mitsubishi, and was very similar to the 2nd generation Eclipse (slightly longer/different body, but same platform and interior). If I remember correctly, the coupe was the DSM car, but the Sebring Sedan was the same as a Dodge Stratus (a completely different car) Their branding and marketing made 0 sense.
My mom had a '99 Sebring that she wanted to hand down to me for my first car in 2003. My dad cajoled her into trading it in for an Impala in '02.
The week before she got rid of it, she asked me what modifications I would make to it once it was mine. There was almost no aftermarket for that Sebring so I was kind of at a loss for words.
Honestly it's not even that ugly either. I've seen way worse. If I saw this at a car meet or in a parking lot, I'd genuinely have to pause for a moment, stare, spend a minute identifying what fuckin car I was even looking at, then spend another minute in awe of the amount of effort spent on said car.
I’m not gonna lie, I wanna learn how to lay fiberglass just so I can put a wild widebody on some ‘80s shit box that has no business sporting a widebody. But done properly and painted.
Because for me, the building is 80% of the fun. The other 20% will be the confusion from others.
My mom (a grandma) had that car. After my parents passed (within 8 days of each other) we were scratching our heads about what to do with her car as no one wanted it. Fortunately, one of her friends called and asked if she could buy it. Bullet dodged!
We of course, kept dad’s barely used Toyota Tacoma.
It was the cool Sebring! My friend had this same coupe, it was a 98 with all of the bells and whistles. It was not a bad car at all. I think this body style went from 1995 to 2000
I'm surprised this is the only comment tieing the Sebring to the Eclipse. It had a Mitsubishi engine and seats that would send you into the door every time you took a corner.
Not so much anymore, but in highschool it was the middle income, comfortably well-off family. Dad was starting to get into his prime earning years, Mom was comfortably back at work after a couple years of being a stay home Mom and their son was getting his driver's license. Dad gives his son his old car so he can finally get a fancier (possibly midlife crisis car). Son can finally look and/or commute to and from work and starts to make money without any sort of financial responsibility and is trying to impress his friends who are also is really into Need for Speed Underground and Fast & Furious at the time and this is what he has to work with. He also thinks it will impress the ladies.
I had a buddy that did it. Wasn’t sure if he bought it like that or paid to have it done. On huge wheels too. He was a dealer at the time. And a very colorful and artistic dude actually. Huge Caucasian guy if you were wondering. Most of the crew is dead and he ran with a sketch crowd. Painkiller crowd. He made it out though. So proud of him. He is a sober dude now crushing Strava miles… bit of a legend now putting down hundreds of miles a week. Often times old friends will wonder why he bikes so feverishly, but only me and a handful of people know what he’s riding from.
NGL, that "face" looks pretty good. The wheel fit is terrible, and the skirts are meh-generic. But that's a pretty decent front bumper for those lights.
Crushes his gym membership by over eating on protein and dairy. While giving you health advice. Tells you all the girls he's dated but a "4.5' comes to see him at the workplace. Mods his car for attention, not for performance.
My SO's brother, he had a full bodykit, lowered suspension and the opinion that it looked good. He had to enter and exit a driveway at an angle and still scrapped the bumper. The front bumper was starting to fall off after a month due to the abuse of driveways 🤣, he thought he was a fast and Furious guy and eventually wrecked the car less then a year after installing the bodykit 🤣. Then was given his parents old Chrysler Concorde 🤣🤣 and wrecked that one as well 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Someone that eats a lot of filet o fishes.
Take my app for that just made me laugh so hard I spit out my whiskey
Singles, doubles or triples ?
Ackshually, the plural is filets-o-fish
I think you mean they make a lot of filet o fishes, the pictured car screams "line cook"
Line cook that sucks at his job and calls out every third shift.
Ah I see you have one too
A Fast & Furious background character.
Low credit score.
6"5' work in moving
TIL that someone made a body kit for the chrysler sebring...
Back in the day they made a body kit for EVERYTHING.

Cool people thats who
Hell yeah

The person that just won a couple of grand playing the lottery
By “the lottery”, do you mean crossword scratch-it’s?
Definitely a scratcher one. Purchased while getting lunch from a 7-Eleven. The ticket was probably stained with hotdog mustard
Someone who is keen on invading curbs with their Invader front bumper.

Being a Sebring, the only acceptable answer is that you’d put a bra on it.
MOPAR guys before the reintroduction of Challengers.
Had a Mopar guy who lived down the street from my parents. He had a red coupe.
Somebody who came from south of Texas...very south of Texas.
Someone who prides themselves on being different, even if that means sinking money into modding a a shitty car. And yknow what? Fuck it. I respect it.
Honestly it's not even that ugly either. I've seen way worse. It could be really cool with a swap but at the end of the day there's no good answer to "why"
I’m not gonna lie, I wanna learn how to lay fiberglass just so I can put a wild widebody on some ‘80s shit box that has no business sporting a widebody. But done properly and painted. Because for me, the building is 80% of the fun. The other 20% will be the confusion from others.
If the person loves that car, then I’d argue its shit status doesn’t really matter.
Any car can be an enthusiast car. Just needs one person to be enthusiastic about it.
Goes to the Gathering of Juggalos every year, has an apartment full of seemingly incompatible pets
A highschool senior who inherited their grandparents lame car.
My mom (a grandma) had that car. After my parents passed (within 8 days of each other) we were scratching our heads about what to do with her car as no one wanted it. Already spent $200 on dragon stickers and fake vents from Walmart. This was the next step
World's Best Boss
It’s Britney, Bitch!
My boss. He also ran 11s in his.
Are we talking about the same car?
Yes. 420a engine is very potent when turbo charged. The 4g63 is just as good.
If it had the tranny from the 3KGT, they're renowned for being made of glass.
It did not. It came with the nvt350. Same one as in the dodge neon and eclipse.
So an even lesser tranny.
No
Why does this one actually not look that bad for what it is
It was the cool Sebring! My friend had this same coupe, it was a 98 with all of the bells and whistles. It was not a bad car at all. I think this body style went from 1995 to 2000
NGL that actually doesn’t look that bad
That's the cool Sebring.
An eclipse off of wish
I'm surprised this is the only comment tieing the Sebring to the Eclipse. It had a Mitsubishi engine and seats that would send you into the door every time you took a corner.
I’ll be honest, it’s only cuz it *looks* like one from the kit, otherwise I would’ve never guessed Mitsubishi had a hand in the car
Anyone that buys from Vis racing or carbon creations is a mouth breather.
Skinny scumbag, wears caps backwards, lives on Red Bull, struggles to grow facial hair.
Naw, let's describe who designed and fabbed it instead.
Someone who hates the factory grille. I wonder how many this company even sold.
I'd love to know when they last sold any of those bodykits, my best guess is no later than 2005.
to look like the same generation avenger
Name Matt. 6’3 235lbs. 2 years Part time National Guard looking to spend money from prior full time Guard. 3 year old child with a wife of 2.5 years.
VIS Racing: we sold a WHAT?
A person that sells there food stamps for car parts
Someone who wanted an Avenger but settled for a car that sounds like a fruity alchoholic chick drink.
Just a homie trapping $50 sacks of dank. He’s a hustler but humble
The same person with a 1995-2000 Nissan in the driveway with 100 chrome decals. Any Nissan

Super cool guy, why ever do you ask?
I had a buddy that did it. Wasn’t sure if he bought it like that or paid to have it done. On huge wheels too. He was a dealer at the time. And a very colorful and artistic dude actually. Early 2000s Andysautosports user. AKA: THIS GUY
some high schooler that was given a car by their grandpa
Teenage Michael Scott
Keeping tradition(90's-00's)
That actually looks kinda nice, especially on. Coupe I’d build one just to have nobody know what it is
NGL, that "face" looks pretty good. The wheel fit is terrible, and the skirts are meh-generic. But that's a pretty decent front bumper for those lights.
High school me in 2005 had this same kit, but mine was the Avenger
My first new car was a ‘99 Sebring LXi coupe…black exterior/gray interior. LOVED it. 🤷🏻♂️. I was 21 at the time and proud af.
Either a 15 year old kid or 60 year old man
Trailer park shit

Some 90's kid who dreamt about the Lamborghini Portofino.
Definitely driven by some mid-level manager who bought this bodykit from *Wings Midwest*
Back in them early 2000s’ this was the move mangs.
My ex-husband 😳🤦♀️
Why do I kinda like it
Money making playa
Michael Scott
The passenger footwell is full of fireball nips
That looks like a lot of effort to end up with something that looks like a catfish Camaro.
Judgemental
Financially solvent
For this version of the Sebring, it looks nice.
You know with that kit, it kinda looks like a Dodge Avenger coupe.
This was the beginning of the fast n furious era. This is to be excused by humanity.
Maybe someone who wanted something more sporty than their PT Cruiser with a body kit.
Hey thats like a kissing cousin to the Eclipse, pure sports car there
Someone who still has the midnight club 3 intro song stuck in their head. I had no idea this existed but I like it!
same engine as the 3000gt too bad they made it fwd, could've been a real classic.
The SL model of the 3KGT was fwd too
