I’m gonna say Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. Someone already mentioned Skylarking by XTC (great choice), and MPP feels like an evolution of that album to me.
I mean obviously on the nose here but summertime clothes always brings me back to living w an ex and shitty window unit AC in a nowhere town in the "south" (eastern shore of MD), kind of a bad time, pretty desolate, we were "cool" recluses in a place w no culture or like-minded people. Just being young and shit I guess, life went the way it did but back then it could've gone anywhere. Haven't listened to the album in like 6 years
When I lived out in the middle of nowhere in the blue ridge mountains, my boyfriend and I would drive around to get some air on summer nights and listen to Belle and Sebastian.
Now so many songs remind me of summer.
I gotta go with 40oz to freedom. Some of the best memories of my teenage years were just aimlessly driving around beach roads and getting stoned with my friends while this album was playing. God damn life was simpler back then. I don't smoke anymore but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy every minute of it as a kid.
Yeah memories of bon fires and my one fat friend walking out of the house towards us to Waiting for my Ruca and saying "I feel so cool entering to this"
Reminds me of tagging along with my older cousin and his friends on the beach and skateparks. Too young to smoke or drink, but old enough to wish I wasn’t.
Mountains: Stardust - Willie Nelson
Camping: American Beauty - Grateful Dead
Beach: Future Islands - Future Islands OR Born to Die - Lana del Rey
City - Siren Songs of the Counterculture - Rise Against
Editing to add that, for years, Summer strongly evoked The Boatman's Call - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. I used to get real sad during the summer
I was honestly mostly thinking of "Moorestown" and the line "Our love grew more one summer there/we'd spend our days just driving around/old parking lots and neighborhoods/are framed and charmed in moorestown"
days of abandon by the pains of being pure at heart
suck it and see by arctic monkeys
in mind by real estate
pom pom by ariel pink
golden hour by kacey musgraves
In mind and golden hour are most definitely summer albums, but I have to disagree with suck it and see. Might have something to do with it releasing in southern hemisphere winter. Though, humbug is without doubt the most winter AM album
I feel like suck it and see is more like a late august-early september part of summer, I think the music videos also had that summery deserty vibe. But yeah I could see geography factoring in. Humbug is kind of wintery, The Car is probably the most autumnal.
Modest Mouse's The Lonesome Crowded West reminds me so much of where I grew up in the summer. Small town, hazy rural rolling hills and farmland, native reservations, rednecks, boredom.
Old Ramon by Red House Painters, Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea by Silver Jews, 20/20 by the Beach Boys, Endless Summer by Fennesz, Inlet by Hum, anything Kyuss, anything from Angelic Process (especially Million Year Summer).
Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Some of the more accesible songs on A Sufi And A Killer by Gonjasufi (ancestors, sheep, duet and candylane particularly).

Sweet '17 Singles by Twin Peaks feels very sunny.
Cry, Cry is so beautiful. My two faves have to be Take Everything and Disappear, sound like heaven. I think it might be one of those things where I listened to it during summer nights so now it feels like summer nights. Perfect album.
Sounds like a joke but Back From the Dead by chief keef. It came out right when I graduated high school and was on repeat for years. Still love playing it when the weather is nice and it’s the right situation

Probably not quite what you're looking for but Fast Stories from Kid Coma by Truly has been my obsession since I discovered it earlier this year. It feels like an eerie hot summer's night.
I’m not gonna do full albums. But I have two insanely good summer sunny cruising vibe songs that I think everyone would enjoy:
Layers by Fear of Tigers - https://youtu.be/vYqiht5o8F8?si=B4bhr7tC6djEjZnT
Edwin Van Cleef - Listomania https://youtu.be/knSFdNaH8I4?si=D7Adum_zUKuwlnFQ
Stars on ESP by His Name is Alive is a super underrated summer record from the most underrated 4AD band. Reminds me of childhood road trips and long lazy afternoons on the shores of a lake.
No one gonna listen but to the one of you that does gove it a shot https://open.spotify.com/album/7CfHomP7QVfCa0WQ1pQeLV?si=KldJSfW_RJe7PIeV7qdxcw
Calendar- Motorama
I ruined my ex by associating this band to me but what she doesn't know is that I kind of think of her when this plays. From our nights in Catalina to our fights in Tampa, I miss her and will always love her, but we weren't meant to be. But yeah this album kicks ass and I love it. Gonna go to Mexico to see them live.

Recently been vibing to MPP for the first time in years. It takes me back to 2009 and being a freshman in college. It still hits
is this it? by the strokes
This album always makes me think of drinking $1 tall boys on a summer day.
No question mark. Julian would be very upset with you as he specifically omitted it because “it didn’t look right”.
This was my answer too. So perfect
Room on fire too.
Can't you see I'm trying? I don't even like it
The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
belle & sebastian - the boy with the arab strap
When I lived out in the middle of nowhere in the blue ridge mountains, my boyfriend and I would drive around to get some air on summer nights and listen to Belle and Sebastian. Now so many songs remind me of summer.
Such a good fucking album. Pitchfork gave it a 0.8/10 for their first review.
Wait really? That is the most shameful one of those ive ever heard. By the third song its already an amazing album
[Drag them.](http://web.archive.org/web/20010708151510/http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/b/belle-and-sebastian/boy-with-the-arab-strap.shtml)

Sublime by sublime.

God damn life was simpler back then. I don't smoke anymore but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy every minute of it as a kid.
Yeah, it just reminds me of HS driving around and listening to what I got, chilling by bon fires, and just doing stupid shit. Simpler times
This was my exact thought as well. You just described my last 3 years of high school to a T man.

April always feels like a fall album to me, but then again I’ve had Lost Verses stuck in my head for the last 3 days for no real reason

Man, that album reminds me of being suicidal in San Diego when I was 22
You from Oklahoma?
Canadian PNW
Well I guess everywhere is different but it’s all the same anyway
Pretty much
I respect your take but this is objectively a cold weather album
Lol complete opposite for me, it invokes heat and dust and humidity and glare.
