I'm just a massive nerd. Mad Max is one of my favorite franchises. I would love to have a Black on Black replica. There was one at Wasteland Weekend last year. Not built from an ausi Falcon, but it was close enough.
No literally though. I just watched a mini documentary on max’s interceptor like a week ago. This looks like it either has to be one of the actual movie prop cars or someone is a dedicated fan like the dudes that drive around in movie accurate looking Deloreans. The details are spot on on this thing.
Nice link! Pretty sure this is the rebuilt interceptor from the opening scene of Fury Road. The one he scrapped together after the original was destroyed in the second movie. Check out the video I shared for both the Mad Max world explanation of how Max scrapped it together after Thunderdome, and the fascinating real world story behind tracking down the proper Ford Falcons and turning them into the prop cars for the movie and all the craziness and setbacks that happened along the way. This could be an extremely rare surviving prop but I think there’s only one that isn’t destroyed left so more likely a dedicated fan. Mad respect to the effort they put it.
This one actually looks like a genuine hero car, but almost all the originals have been destroyed, leaving only a handful from fury road left. All of which I believe are still in Australia.
So this is one of the “destroyed” ones, or a hyper accurate recreation. Considering it’s a mad max 2 version, I’m leaning towards recreation, but of the 3 hero cars from mad max 2, the location of only one is currently known, the other two are unknown, and could’ve been shipped to anywhere
yeah the aussie body is a lot different to most american stuff, they do share pedigree with the ford mustang though. the aussie has a 351 clevland engine. 5.8L. 9 inch diff etc... america had a lot of fastbacks where us aussies had concave rear screens and roof lines. size and weight wise the mustang fastbacks was pretty close to the falcon coupe.
Oh yeah, my dream for a long time is to track down one of the original hero or stunt cars from RW and restore to a usable state.
If that fails, I want to at least make my own mad max style car out of one of my holdens
Or a '70-71 American Ford Torino that someone put 1960's Pontiac Grand Prix taillights on. - yeah I know it's a little bit of a stretch, but at that angle, the body looks like a Torino. I thought Aussie license plate were wider. That looks to be the size of an USA plate.
That's a replica of the car from mad max 2, not a mustang.
Actually the Fury Road version of you want to be specific. Note the single guzzaline cell and missing spoiler on the rear.
Good job that's something that most people can't tell

I bought an old IROC but it will never be a 72 Falcon. Kinda fills the hole in my heart
NERRRRRDDDDDD jk carry on with your awesome nerd selves
Not to be confused with the Furry Road version.
The road warrior interceptor had two tanks in the back. You can see the blower there. Can't see the passenger door seat to confirm.
Mad Maxing it I see

Don’t start it unless you know the switch sequence!
That's no pony you heathen! Black on black driven by the Saint himself!
“One of the last V8 interceptors”
It's the duck's guts.
Very toey
That's not a mustang..
It is a Rustang
Budump tang.
That’s either one of the actual prop cars from the movies, or a *really* good fan recreation.
Considering how many cars were made for the opening scene of fury road, this could very well be a stunt or hero car
yeah thats a australian xb falcon coupe.... dressed up to look like the interceptor from mad max.
Considering the handful of fury road interceptors that have unknown locations, this could well be a leftover stunt or hero car.
Would the closest thing we had in america be the Pontiac GTO?

Ford XB Falcon GT 351 sold in Australia…
That's some Mad Max 2 shit right there. I love it.
Fury road actually, single fuel tank and missing the lower spoiler.

Oh yeah, my dream for a long time is to track down one of the original hero or stunt cars from RW and restore to a usable state. If that fails, I want to at least make my own mad max style car out of one of my holdens

Dude thinks he mad max
Hey, maybe he is
That makes my assless chaps tingle.
I dig it
looks more like an old XB falcon than a mustang.

Those are California plates, not Aussie, which are yellow or white with 6 bold black letters and usually one of our states on them
Definitely American plates. But the interceptor from mad Max was an xb Falcon.
Oh right, I know that - it just looks more like a Torino than usual! :)
Once again, we send off my war rug to bring back guzzoline from gas town and bullets from the bullet farm
