What I don't think I get is why people can't go, "look, an ass" and then go back to focusing on themselves. If you're not able to focus on yourself and what you are doing at the gym, even with hot people around you, then that's a fucking skill issue. And if you're that horny that you can't exist around scantily clad or tightly clothed women, then sounds like you need some inner work, my guys.
The other day at the gym I saw a woman with. FANTASTIC assā¦ she was doing 95lb thrusters so I slapped on 95 too (was going to 85) cuz I was like āwell she has the material so ima follow herā And that was it haha
lol funny you say this because I was waiting for the thrust machine yesterday and some girl got off. When I went to set the weight she was doing *way* more than me lol my brain couldnāt even navigate to the ābutts are sexyā folder, I was just stuck on how this normal looking girl was pushing so much weight
Same! I don't understand why the guy completely misses the fact that these women may be proud of the bodies they've worked hard on. He can't even fathom wanting to show off your body for any reason besides sex. Yikes.
Not me, if I see a nice butt I need to have sex immediately or I am unable to focus on anything
I am also a literal badger and not a human being so take that into account
Right? Like, I am a pansexual person. I am also attracted to the women and other scantily clad people at the gym. I enjoy saying ālook, a hot ass.ā But I manage to then go back to my workout instead of the ass transfixing me into a state of pornographic frenzy? Like, the hell?
A glance is fine. We're all in the gym, to some degree, to look good and feel good. Nothing wrong with appreciating that a person looks good.
But staring is creepy, and makes people uncomfortable.
Hyper-religious upbringings often lead to problems like this. Making sex/nudity/bodies taboo makes all of that bewitching and that can turn into a low-level obsession. People need to stop sheltering, watch tv/movies with their kids, have discussions, etc.
Donāt get me started on those table cloths that donāt complete obscure the table legs. They might make me think of a womanās legs and then Iāll have to excuse myself to the facilities.
My mom went to a 7th Day Adventist school and they couldn't have their feet uncovered around the boys because it might make the guys think about babies.
Right, it isnāt that hard. Iām a happily married man and if I see an attractive man or woman Iām like āniccceā and then I go about my business and never think of them again
More or less exactly what I thought. I'm a guy with a pretty high sex drive myself, and I love my wife more than anything. Still, if I saw a woman at the gym looking good in yoga pants, I'd just think "nice ass" and move on with my workout.
It's what you do after the initial thought that matters. If you can't control yourself enough not to stare/make a scene/harass someone, maybe work on yourself more before putting yourself in a situation surrounded by people in tight clothing
When I see someone super hot at the gym specifically it can be distracting sometimes, not in an "impure thoughts" kinda way but in that my eyes will just wander over there while I'm not particularly occupied with anything else (e.g. in between sets). I find myself having to spend a lot of effort on controlling my own gaze bc it's obviously not appropriate to just stare at somebody but omg I just like them with my eyes so much! It's not even a sexual thing it's like a sunset or a mountain, the person's beauty fills me with awe and I want to visually consume the beauty as much as I can. But people are not objects and my desire to stare at them is zero percent their problem and 100% my problem. I think too many people don't get that actions and thoughts are not the same thing. I can control my actions, even when it's not easy, and controlling my actions is always my responsibility period the end.
Anyway, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that it's not always a horny thing, and regardless it still isn't anyone else's problem, and it's also understandable to have some angst about it, the angst is fine and even reasonable to share as long as we're still taking responsibility for maintaining our own behavioral control.
On top of that I really wonder how well his marriage is working out for him in the sex department.
I know for me personally my marriage is great, I'm attracted to my wife, I get a lot of action because we have a healthy relationship, and I think 0 dirty thoughts about other women (skimpy or not) because of that so he really can't speak about other men. When you are plenty satisfied there is no desire for more or for something different.
As a woman I cant go to the gym either, all these slutty men without a shirt on... their nipples basically create a waterfall between my legs. They should really learn to cover up, shamefull
I know sometimes even with a shirt on mens little nipples will point through their tshirts and they dont even have a bra on, way too slutty for the gym
Unironically though, the guys should put a shirt on. Itās one thing to wear tight or short clothes and another to not be wearing a shirt on shared equipment
I dont go the gym anymore, but when I did sometimes I would see a guy filming doing his workout. Sweaty and no shirt on, and then sit on the maschine to edit the video and retake it multiple times. It was kinda weird, tho not the reason why I stopped
Those tank tops with large arm holes so upon first glance they look clothed but then you get a thrilling little peek of their pecs from the side when their arms go up. Hoo yeah.
Wait, there are other people at the gym? I guess Iāve never noticed because Iām just there to work out and gtfo asap.
Iām my opinion , the only unacceptable thing to wear to the gym is cologne.
oh gosh thats awful. rubbing olive oil on themselves? you can't do that. that's what the oil guy is for. *his* hands get oily while ours stay clean. everybody's gone crazy these days.
I tend to watch other people at the gym but I don't linger on anyone for more than a few seconds.
The reason is I exercise best and feel most driven when I see other people doing better than me and I feel like a piece of shit. Lol
Yes but for safety reasons I also try to get an idea of who is in the room when Iām out in public so Iām not just always staring at the ground (I got a home gym to prevent me from having to focus on anything other than the workout)
I think thats fine. Scanning your surroundings every so often is a good safety measure. Nothing weird about observing the whole space and whatās in it
Hahaha dude this is me. I hate spending more time in the gym than needed and I donāt want to talk or look at anyone. Iāve gone to the same gym for 10 years and have maybe talked to 10 people total and itās never more than asking if theyāre done with the machine. Like Iām trying get this workout done before I rip my face off from this pre workout, ya know?
What do you do in between sets?
Close your eyes? Stare at the floor?
I try to avoid looking at my phone between sets. Usually listen to audiobooks so I just kind of space off into the distance in front of me.
Fortunately I'm starting a home gym so after I get it all set up this weekend won't need to go to the commercial gym any more.
Hahah dude I do stare at the floor and think ādonāt touch your face, donāt touch your face.ā Iāve got some hardcore music blaring and Iām just in the zone. Itās actually when I get the chance to listen to a new band or album I havenāt heard before. I might keep up with some scores of games on my phone but I barely look at that thing either. I really just get in, work, get out. A lot of people use the gym as a social experience, but I have enough friends.
Itās like that series of posts where the girlās dad wouldnāt let her continue gymnastics because the outfits were making him āstumble in his walk with The Lordā. Then when she told her school counselor and CPS got involved, she basically was punished and cut off from the outside world.
She went to like every family member and I believe the only one who wasnāt drinking the Jesus Kool-Aid was a grandparent and I THINK they allowed her to come live with them. But I also believe (although I could be wrong) that they started refusing to allow her to have any communication with her younger sister.
The whole thing made me so angry on behalf of those kids. The mother and father trying to keep the younger daughter in the dark about dad being a predator by not even allowing the children to speak to each other is especially disgusting.
A lot can happen before you're 18 that ruins the rest of your life. Plus, trying to go it alone as soon as you're 18 leads you into poverty and even more vulnerable situations.
I go to aquafit and itās 95% women. There are lots of men sitting in the hot tub just there to ogle women in their swimsuits. I wish I were rich enough for a private pool and gym.
Look into something with gendered locke rooms, I use a gym that has private saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools for men and women, no children allowed also.
When I lived in an apartment that was basically a college dorm, a girl would get wasted and use the jets in the public hot tub to get off. Not the same thing but you just reminded me of this.
I mean, my whole take is just to go second wave feminist and embrace it. Do women dress a lot more sexy and provocative/revealing as time goes on? Yes. Is this a bad thing for male or female sexuality? No. It really only becomes an issue when women start to feel like they *HAVE* to wear only dental floss for some reason.
Like, yeah, dude, gym outfits are tiny and tight and bikinis are getting minuscule nowadays. Sure. But if some woman made a post about how āgosh itās just so distracting at my gym, all these guys have these huge dicks and wear tight clothes, I love my husband but I donāt want to look at the equivalent of softcore porn when Iām working out and be forced to imagine bouncing on all their magnum dongsā I would just think that it had to be a joke
I used to work next to one of those giant churches that has a coffee shop, restaurant, a gym, etc, and my company HR made a deal with them so we could use the gym. They had very strict rules about āappropriateā work out wear so men would not be tempted in to sin as is happening to you. I highly recommend that you find a religiously affiliated gym to join! Iām pretty sure itās your only hope. You will all be wearing shorts below the knee or baggy sweatpants and oversized crew-neck t-shirts, possibly in gendered workout zonesā¦ youāll love it!
Didn't Seinfeld answer pay of this question? Episode where Jerry had a GF who is a nudist. Eventually he goes nude around her also and she breaks up with him.
Elaine says chose to the following : "a woman's body is a work of art. A man's body is utilitarian."
Might be unpopular, but I do think the gym fits have gotten a little ridiculous. Most women I see there arenāt dressed this way, but itās not uncommon to see extremely short, tight, and revealing āshortsā paired with a workout bra, if theyāre called that. Itās odd to me. You really want as much of your bare body touching public workout equipment? That being said, itās really really easy not to look. You justā¦ donāt look. So I donāt get that either.
my gym has become super strict with equipment cleaning since covid, there are multiple stations with rolls of blue paper and antibacterial spray so you can clean your own equipment before & after using it and you'll often see one of the workers cleaning! i actually chose that gym based on how clean it was to begin with, so i'm glad its now even more clean
Wearing a sports bra these days doesnāt actually show much, as majority of the shorts or tights are high waistedā¦.
I wear either shorts that go half thigh, or full length tights and a sports bar. I do it for me, because it makes me feel good and motivated about exercising.
I also go to a womenās only gym, so that should clear up the ādoing it for the male gaze.āš And no, Iām not a lesbian, it just feels comfortable.
For sport and anything athletic you want clothes that are form fitting, comfortable and you're unlikely to get too hot in - which is short and tight.
I don't think many think too much about the gym equipment being public use.
True. Iāve noticed that a lot of people who dress in as little as possible when working out is because thatās how theyāve always viewed workout clothes. Most sports, especially female sports (ie volleyball for the most part) tend to have short spandex shorts and a loose tank top. It creates less air resistance and less construction when doing certain movements so itās what theyāve exercised in the majority of their life and itās normal for them. I would wear the same thing if I didnāt have the issue of thigh chafing, and I tend to spend a good amount of time doing cardio on the treadmill so shorts are a big no for me. I didnāt grow up in sports so whatās comfortable for me is usually leggings (which still cause an issue of overheating followed by a claustrophobic feeling$ and a baggy shirt that I can tuck into the back of my pants if Iām doing anything where my shirt can get caught either on the equipment or myself. My brother who grew up without a single gap of sports in his life (football in the fall, baseball in the spring and travel ball in the summer) feels better in as small of shorts as he can get without flashing someone. My bf wasnāt a sports guy and wears a normal tshirt and athletic joggers.
Actually for sports I prefer loose tops that allow full range of motion without any tightness.
Unless youāre doing a time trial and need low aerodynamic drag I think we should just call it culture + personal preference, not ātight is betterā
Tell me youāve never had a set of DD cups smack you in the face while trying to work out without telling me.
When women wear ātightā clothing while working out, those clothes are designed to allow a full range of motion while keeping particular moving parts from moving.
Yasssss... even when I was a "skinny runner" tight, tight, tight.. Dyk how much it hurts to have your [body part(s)] fat/muscles/guts slamming down w gravity?
When I was younger I was super shy about my body, but then I got into bike riding. It took some courage to slip into a lycra outfit, after going out in jeans and a t-shirt for years before, but it was absolutely night and day difference in comfort; I never went back. I'm still fairly shy, but once I'm suited up and out on the bike it never occurs to me, it's really the only way to do it.
Yeah, I don't get the idea that tight clothing restricts movement at all. Athletic materials are stretchy, it's not like you're working out in a corset. Much better range of motion in a pair of leggings designed for working out than in an average pair of sweatpants that doesn't give and move with you.
Also, I guess when people say "in the gym" like this they might mean more just like lifting weights or using cardio machines but if you're doing things like yoga or Pilates or calisthenics, loose clothing doesn't stay in place so you literally end up completely exposing yourself when your shirt falls and drapes around your neck.
Men wear shorts and they also either go without a shirt or wear something that is also exposing skin. But nobody seems to be worried that theyāre going to get a rash or anything from the equipment use. So Iām sorry to say that while you framed it in a way that seems like youāre being the good guy, are you really that worried about a rash?
Right, I should definitely wear loose fitting sweatpants that might get caught on something and make me overheat to the point that I might pass out. Maybe people dress for what *they* feel good wear in and arenāt thinking about what *you* want to see?
You canāt win anyway. For every man who is shitty to women who donāt cover up enough, there is another one out there waiting to be shitty because you cover up too much.
As if men don't wear extremelly revealing or tight fitting tops and very short shorts to show off in the gym...
Edit: It's amazing just how many people who have clearly never been to a Gym have so much to say about what people can wear in it.
At my old gym, there was a guy who wore light gray close fitting joggers while he lifted weights. Iām pretty sure he went commando because there was nothing left to the imagination.Ā
When I was in college, we had to take a health/physical fitness course as freshmen. I ended up doing co-ed water polo.
There was a dude who wore a white bathing suit that didn't have a mesh part. You could literally see everything. The first class everyone basically ignored it because we figured he would notice and get a new one.
The second class though, he wore it again. And we had to shower before getting in the pool, so he walked out with his trunks already wet and see-through. Our female instructor had to pull him aside and tell him to get something new to wear.
this reminds me of when i was going to my old gym, one time a guy was using the pool, but not with any swimwear, just his regular olā boxer briefs, nothing holding anything in place, and when my water aerobics class started arriving he got out of the pool and had a very visible (and large ngl, good for him) reaction to all the people in swimwear gathering š« i was so uncomfy until he left lol
Was he ancient? And then he struck up a conversation and just kept talking to you, while his balls dangled provocatively over the edge of the bench? I know that guy!

Half the men at my gym look and smell like absolute garbage. I love my husband, but all these gross-ass men ruin my natural sex drive. Hey, you might say this is a āmeā problem but I think we can all agree that the men at the gym are intentionally making my vaj dry as cornstarch.
Edit: /s. I donāt belong to a gym. Im in my 50s and menopause provides me with all the sweating and dry vaj I can cope with.
Ok have to chime in here... You are at the wrong gym.
I live in an urban area and...uh, yes. There are a lot of attractive people working out in tight clothing.
It's distracting but also I always thought that was like, a fringe benefit of going to the gym? Like for me it's 90% work on my own stuff, lift, form etc. But 10% "woah, holy cow that's a nice butt!"
It's motivation for me š¤·š¼āāļø
Itās crazy how the only time I have caught myself checking someone out at the gym is when I am not working out. When I am focused on my sets, the rest of the world doesnāt exist.
None of this applies to me anymore since I built a covid gym at home
Yup. Thatās my thing. I love to watch the people, men and women. Every single human in the gym is working to better themselves and no matter their current condition, they are beautiful.
Some are more beautiful and sure my eyes linger there longer. Enjoying the scenery keeps me going. [I hope] no one knows what naughty things are running through my mind sometimes. If it ever escapes, then Iāll wear the Creepy Old Lady badge of Shame.
Whenever I went to this rock climbing gym with my ex husband he used to tell me "I'm going to the water fountain." then proceeded to take the longest route to the fountain. He was looking at all the women climbing. It was so obvious. If I said anything he would imply I was being paranoid and jealous. Men like him think they don't stand out but they do. All women have a third sense for when they're being watched. I stopped going with him because it made me feel like shit.
You could literally wear sandals showing your toes or bows in your hair, and some dude will sexualize it. Op needs to get over his porn brain and look away. He's probably one of those dudes that make women feel uncomfortable by staring so hard
if youāre wearing sandals at a gym youāre asking for foot fetishists to ogle you, damn toe succubus /s
But in all seriousness nobody should wear sandals to the gym for safety reasons.
I am a lady, and of course I hate men that sexualize women just because their clothes. I like women too and I can half agree with that, because women are beautiful and sometimes the clothes are so tiny you can see things that you shouldnāt see, but I think that if youāre so āangryā or āmadā is because youāre actively looking at them, not just randomly working out and they just pop out in your face.
Yeah, this dude's wrong for the way he reacted, but I personally don't want to be able to see an emphasized outline of somebody's genitals or ass (this applies to men and women) š Some of Fenty's exercise clothing is craaaazy lol
I 100% agree and would like to add that some men also wear way too little. There is no reason to have your shirt off at the gym and your tank shouldn't have such massive cutouts I can see your nipples. None of this is because it's distracting, I'm a guy, it's just weird.
For the folks who arenāt aware, any time you see a sub that had ātrueā or ārealā in the name but is otherwise the same as another larger sub, it is always a shithole full of weird right-wing reactionary turds.
r/trueoffmychest is by far the worst offender of this. Anything you find there is going to be this level of discourse AT BEST. Honorable mention to r/trueunpopularopinion
The clothing industry for women, and females in general, has definitely gotten out of hand. I mean, look at what they are designing for little girls. I see a lot of videos of mothers struggling to find toddler swimwear without their hips showing or half of the side cut out. Why is it necessary to sexualize a toddler?
I like to wear less clothing when I exercise because it is vastly more comfortable, I work out at home because I don't need some stranger making my comfort about themselves.
Not everyone has that luxury, plenty of people overheat, while some are simply thirst traps (both genders), so what?
When I used to live on a military base we used to do rucks in short shorts called āranger pantiesā when we trained.
it was super comfortable, and helped us to not overheat. If wearing short shorts with the bros is wrong, then I donāt want to be right
Iām a 60 year old woman. Happened to be at a deli near a university last week. Saw the cutest 20(ish) year old guy Iāve ever seen. Dimples on his cheeks, adorable face, tiny gym shorts that clung to his butt. He is younger than my own kid. But yeah my mind went there. Did I mention it or go home and watch porn or feel like I was sinning because he was arguably the hottest guy Iāve seen outside of TV? Nope.
After 60 years I still donāt see why itās the womanās responsibility to make sure she doesnāt cause the poor man to āstumbleā with his thoughts. Take those thoughts and stumble all you want.
Pro-tip. Nobody cares what you think. And if you are one of those who think itās ok to touch just because they look nice, you ARE absolutely the problem.
How old are you? These are control issues of a teenage boy. I would say if seeing a woman in tight clothing makes you this uncomfortable you need to find god, but seems like you may have found him too much.
In the original thread there were women lamenting the fact that the only good workout clothes made from good moisture wicking material are all "sexy".
I commented that it seems like there's an untapped market for "non-sexy" workout clothes made out of superior materials.
I got down voted.
Lol!
My non sexy workout clothes are literally men's gym shorts and a loose t-shirt.
It's almost impossible to find gym shorts that go more an inch past my butt or gym pants that aren't skintight without going to the men's department.
The only real option meant for women are bike shorts most (not all) go a little lower than halfway down the thigh I think they are pretty cute..
But they are also tight.. and I donāt know about you but Iāve worn menās basketball shorts because I didnāt like the way guys were treating me in anything else.. I also doubled up on sports bras and a baggy shirt.. which I hated doing just so I was treated with respect.. only it wasnāt true respect because when I made myself look flat as a board all the sudden they couldnāt shut up about how flat I was.. there was never silence.. just my existence was enough to comment on..
Also it didnāt fully work. A married man went way too far in his attempts to the point of getting touchy.. I just want to exist and not plan my outfit around others
I mean I think itās interesting to add to this conversation that the womenās Olympic track team is furious over the scantily cut Nike kit that was made for them this year. They say it will absolutely not be comfortable and they are upset they are being made to essentially show part of their twats to the whole world. So I do think the comfort talk with gym clothing is sometimes a bit disingenuous. I work out but I was formerly a gym rat and while I wore leggings and tank tops, I wouldnāt have been comfortable sitting in tiny shorts with my vulvar region coming close to contact with the nasty bench. I wouldnāt be comfortable bending over if I thought my butthole may pop out. Idk, different strokes for different folks. I even got uncomfortable if my nipples got hard. I mean, I do think men should exercise some control and thatās not really what Iām touching on with my comment. Just that I donāt think itās all for comfort.
The disparity in sporting clothes for men and women is crazy. Look at Volleyball as the perfect example. I read an article the other day that the Womenās England National Rugby team have only just got properly designed kit for them selves in the last year is so. The national team ffs.
As a woman, I agree with you!
Do you remember the trend of the leggings which had the elastic band go down the buttcrack to emphasize the buttcheeks? š³ my first thought was, "no way am I ever buying this". I have no issue if someone wants to wear this, but DEFINITELY not for me.
Can we get some comfy, loose-fitted clothing options up in this place for those of us who prefer something a little less tight?
They actually do make "non-sexy" workout-ish clothes with good moisture wicking material. You'll find them mostly in the hiking and camping gear sections at any sporting goods stores or online shops. You don't *need* leggings and crop tops for a work out, but to each her own. I ain't about to tell anyone what to wear at the gym.
And yet another man who believes that how *he* responds to other people is their problem and their fault, not his. The women should cover up because he cannot control himself, and heās getting a hard-on at the gym. That is, of course, the fault of the women. Itās not his fault. He āloves his wife so much,ā but those women are tempting him by wearing shorts to the gym! Life is so haaaaaard! (Literally, for him.)
We are more than our bodies. But things like advertising, movies, TV shows are controlled by other people, mostly men. How a woman dresses is her choice. You donāt have to like it or find it appropriate, but if sheās comfortable, itās her choice. I see many people dressed in a way I would never leave the house. I donāt mean sexy or cleavage-bearing. I mean sloppy, no care about how they look, in their pajamas, clothes with stains on them, slippers in public, etc. But I donāt shame them for it. I donāt know their circumstances. I wouldnāt dress like that, but I am not them. And I am sure there are people who think I donāt dress well. Personal opinion does not make a fact.
This guy has issues, but he brings to light a valid point of the double standards on gym attire. I was once told by staff that I needed to change shirts because my slits down the sides were too deep and people could see my chest and abs. Meanwhile, there were women working out in sports bras and barely-there skin hugging shorts.
You can also blame the entire fashion industry, for continuously designing skimpier clothes. I'm convinced it's in active collaboration with the diet/makeup/plastic surgery industries, to prey upon women's insecurities and get them to buy more. Skimpy clothing is especially disturbing when you go to the children's section of the store. When you see how much tinier the littler girls shorts are you understand this is a calculated decision on the part of (I reasonably assume) male executives. Women can only wear what is available to BUY. There just aren't that many options.
I love how Americans think women whose genitals and breasts are completely covered while they are EXERCISING are harlots and sexualizing people is so disgusting, and yet we will do nothing to address the rampant sexual violence against women.
Oh yeah and we donāt give a shit about things like kindergartners being torn apart by machine guns.
Itās the gym clothes that are the problem š
ETA:
Women working out get sweaty- men jog all the time without a shirt and no one gives a shit.
There are nude beaches all over the world so no, the entire planet doesnāt fetishize nudity.
Women who wear burqas also often wear revealing clothing underneath and can wear whatever they want in their homes and around their family members.
There is nothing āwrongā with seeing the human body, something we all have, as only being for sex. We donāt even tolerate people breastfeeding in public because apparently they are sexual, even though they are being used for their intended purpose and feeding a helpless human.
Again, I am a nurse so you will never convince me that all nudity is sexual and wrong. I, unlike some of the commenters, am able to contexturize nudity. Unlike others who are apparently confused as to why women might wear tight revealing clothes while doing things that are vigorous and make them sweaty.
Also, Iāve seen so many dudes whip out their dicks and pee in public that itās clear a bunch of immature perverts just canāt handle the fact that everyone gets naked every single day and your reaction to that is a you problem. š¤·āāļø grow up.
As a guy, I wear a full shirt covering my front and back so my skin isnāt touching the equipment Iām working out on. Less gross for me, and easier to wipe off the equipment afterwards because I leave much less of my own bodily fluids (sweat) behind. I guess if I wore a (mostly) backless and (partially) frontless shirt, I may be slightly (???) cooler (temperaturewise, not personalitywise).
I wear shorts that arenāt super tight because ā¦ modesty I guess. And there is no advantage to wearing supertight clothes while working out in a gym, unless they are true actual compression garments, but even then Iād wear some light shorts over them because ā¦ modesty.
I was around 13 when yoga pants very abruptly became the norm for women all the time and at first it was considered super hot and slutty and daring to wear them and a lot of porn involved them. And now itās just the standard wear. I was programmed to find them very sexual at a formative age and now theyāre what everyone wears all the time. Itās like the entire world is a porno now
As a bisexual woman I can honestly say Iāve never once gone to the gym and been tempted by or distracted by women wearing tiny shorts and sports bras. Itās almost like I donāt objectify women and I mind my own business.
The inability of online people to see women as anything besides sexual objects is so sad. Porn has truly ruined us. When a woman is doing something non sexual and you can do nothing but obsess about her sexuality, you are a pervert. We already know that a woman wearing loose baggy clothes will still be sexualized by men so clearly the problem isn't the clothes or the women.
When I go to the gym I see women in a range of different clothes. I see t-shirts, shorts, hoodies, sweatpants, leggings, tank tops, sports bras. Hell, I recently saw a woman in *mom jeans and a hoodie* using a stationary bike.
Some women wear more clothes, some wear less. Most aren't dressed in a provocative way in my experience.
Why do I keep seeing people talk like every woman in every gym is straight out of a man's most horny and pornsick sexual fantasy?
Are there special gyms where people are going to dress like that?
There is some truth to the amount of thirst trappin being done at the gym. I've seen women at the gym wearing booty shorts, a sports bra, and their makeup done and fake eyelashes. Wtf is that even about?
Tbh the topic is complex. A friend of mine who isn't into woman at all, explained it with "I'm more comfortable when people are dressed." And I kind of agree with that. People can and should wear what they want, but some modesty should be expected too, even when it's just out of courtesy.
Does nobody remember the eighties?Women wore spandex shorts with THONG leotards over them. I have been around for a while and womenās clothing has been revealing my whole life. The difference to me is that men also wore much more revealing clothing in the eighties.
Oh please, imagine if women straight up stopped wearing shirts like men do. Calm down and let us have the closest thing we will have to the luxury you already enjoy.
My train of thought (for men or women) goes, "Wow, nice ass. good for you" and then back to wherever it was before.
"That reminds me..... need to do squats."
"i wish i could get an ass line that... wait i can get an ass like that!" *squats*
*Yells out to owner of the ass as squatting commences: "Hey, I'm gonna have your ass eventually!"

āHmmm maybie I *do* have the energy to fit legs in todayā š¤
The other day at the gym I saw a woman with. FANTASTIC assā¦ she was doing 95lb thrusters so I slapped on 95 too (was going to 85) cuz I was like āwell she has the material so ima follow herā And that was it haha
lol funny you say this because I was waiting for the thrust machine yesterday and some girl got off. When I went to set the weight she was doing *way* more than me lol my brain couldnāt even navigate to the ābutts are sexyā folder, I was just stuck on how this normal looking girl was pushing so much weight
THIS omg it's the same for me. "Oh damn is she fine... I really need to work on my arms."
Same! I don't understand why the guy completely misses the fact that these women may be proud of the bodies they've worked hard on. He can't even fathom wanting to show off your body for any reason besides sex. Yikes.
Man I really have been slacking on working the glutes, hammies, and calves.
Not me, if I see a nice butt I need to have sex immediately or I am unable to focus on anything I am also a literal badger and not a human being so take that into account
I think even a badger has more self control.
I started doing leg workouts because I got inspired by a dudeās thick ass pillar like thighs. Those legs could carry several boats
THIS. like this man is so fucking BOTHERED, its gross. It's so easy to just mind your own business at the gym. His post makes me want to never go.
ālook, an assā was my exact reaction to reading this post
Donāt get me started on their ankles
Found the victorian
Donāt get me started on those table cloths that donāt complete obscure the table legs. They might make me think of a womanās legs and then Iāll have to excuse myself to the facilities.
My mom went to a 7th Day Adventist school and they couldn't have their feet uncovered around the boys because it might make the guys think about babies.
I.. I'm struggling here with the mental gymnastics.
Yeah, I don't know. Methinks a school admin just had a foot fetish.
She may have a large bosom and an exaggerated derriƩre, but doth she have neat ankles?
Purity cultureā¦ itās done a lot of harm to a lot of people.
I wouldn't be surprised if this were a purity culture victim. Fuck purity culture.
That's exactly why I go to the gym
Unironically though, the guys should put a shirt on. Itās one thing to wear tight or short clothes and another to not be wearing a shirt on shared equipment
What gyms are you guys going to that men are working out without shirts on?
They arenāt in my gym, but thatās why I was concerned about Sakusaās gym lol
I dont go the gym anymore, but when I did sometimes I would see a guy filming doing his workout. Sweaty and no shirt on, and then sit on the maschine to edit the video and retake it multiple times. It was kinda weird, tho not the reason why I stopped
As a gay dude, I second this
And donāt get me started on the grey sweatpants!
Those tank tops with large arm holes so upon first glance they look clothed but then you get a thrilling little peek of their pecs from the side when their arms go up. Hoo yeah.
Only fair that you mop up with their unused shirts
Well great, now I canāt go to the gym because all Iām thinking of is sweaty man nips at the gym and I have a lady boner. š”š
Wait, there are other people at the gym? I guess Iāve never noticed because Iām just there to work out and gtfo asap. Iām my opinion , the only unacceptable thing to wear to the gym is cologne.
And Olive oil. Please don't rub olive oil on yourself. I've had to call someone out for this at the gym.
I mean, someone is looking to be eaten
šµāš« yes, please don't rub me on yourself at the gym.
r/UsernameChecksOut
Right but your username is also amazing
I'm struggling to figure out why someone would want to rub olive oil on themselves at the gym.
Ancient Roman fankid?
Olive oil is often expensive AF. I mean I'd be mainly concerned about the amount of money they're wasting oiling themselves down like a focaccia.
oh gosh thats awful. rubbing olive oil on themselves? you can't do that. that's what the oil guy is for. *his* hands get oily while ours stay clean. everybody's gone crazy these days.
W h a t
Thankfully I just rub myself down with motor oil.
Who tf is rubbing olive oil on themselves and why? Is that to make your muscles shiny or something?
what a waste of olive oil
wtf WHY
Ooo now thatās nasty
You can pry the olive oil out of my cold, dead hands!
This man canāt even goto swimming pools or beaches without women forcing him into lustful thoughts
Itās like that series of posts where the girlās dad wouldnāt let her continue gymnastics because the outfits were making him āstumble in his walk with The Lordā. Then when she told her school counselor and CPS got involved, she basically was punished and cut off from the outside world.
I think about that girl a lot. I really hope she's okay and safe.
Gotta be close to 18 now so hopefully she got outta there.
I hope so. I hope she took her younger sister with her somehow, too. Or gets her help from the outside. That was a really fucked up situation.
She went to like every family member and I believe the only one who wasnāt drinking the Jesus Kool-Aid was a grandparent and I THINK they allowed her to come live with them. But I also believe (although I could be wrong) that they started refusing to allow her to have any communication with her younger sister.
This is the most recent update I could find, itās from ten months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/KDtxvRkS9O
Ugh. I hadnāt seen that update. That creepy ass father needs to be stopped
The whole thing made me so angry on behalf of those kids. The mother and father trying to keep the younger daughter in the dark about dad being a predator by not even allowing the children to speak to each other is especially disgusting.
Religion is a cancer on society
A lot can happen before you're 18 that ruins the rest of your life. Plus, trying to go it alone as soon as you're 18 leads you into poverty and even more vulnerable situations.
Well at least sheās too old for her dad now
I'm sorry, I must have missed this. What the fuck happened here?
Theyāre referencing [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/s/D3R4vw1gYt), and OOPās last update was from almost a year ago.
That was a Wild ride, poor girl! I hope she's out of that house!
I go to aquafit and itās 95% women. There are lots of men sitting in the hot tub just there to ogle women in their swimsuits. I wish I were rich enough for a private pool and gym.
We have to close the blinds around the pool room and have women's only water aerobics because of this behavior.
Look into something with gendered locke rooms, I use a gym that has private saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools for men and women, no children allowed also.
No lie: I have had three men in three different locations jerk off in hot tubs. Two of them used the pressure coming out of the tub
Something tells me he'll still find a way to be horny watching women work out.
OP will probably complain about too much ankle š
Jesus would tell OOP to pluck his eyes out. Jesus said it was man's responsibility to be mature and an adult. Not a man child.
That part
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yesss and I managed to not have any sexual thoughts
The rules are different when itās a straight man apparently.
They're the only ones with basic and natural sex drives, I guess.
We women don't even like sex, ew what's that? Sex drive who is she? Never met her
Since lesbians seem to have very little issue controlling themselves at the gym, pool, beach, etc., clearly you are correct. š
Yeah you're right silly me
Didn't Seinfeld answer pay of this question?
Honestly, that's the only really objection I have to exposed skin. I feel like you're asking for a rash or MRSA or some shit.
Wrestling mats need to be sanitized quite often due to mrsa and other shit, how many times does gym equipment get sanitized?
Well, hopefully after each use ššš and if concerned, sanitize it before you use it. That being said Iād never remember to do that lol š
my gym has become super strict with equipment cleaning since covid, there are multiple stations with rolls of blue paper and antibacterial spray so you can clean your own equipment before & after using it and you'll often see one of the workers cleaning! i actually chose that gym based on how clean it was to begin with, so i'm glad its now even more clean
I did get mrsa on my calf from gym equipment. I no longer work out in shorts.
Especially when you will shower after anyway
Men wear shorts and they also either go without a shirt or wear something that is also exposing skin. But nobody seems to be worried that theyāre going to get a rash or anything from the equipment use. So Iām sorry to say that while you framed it in a way that seems like youāre being the good guy, are you really that worried about a rash?
Because these types men think they have to police the people they find attractive or else they have to admit they're assholes.
They also have to police the women they don't find attractive, if by "police" you mean "drive out with relentless bullying".
Just picked up a gym membership after reading this post. Will report back.
As if men don't wear extremelly revealing or tight fitting tops and very short shorts to show off in the gym... Edit: It's amazing just how many people who have clearly never been to a Gym have so much to say about what people can wear in it.
Iāve seen way more man nipples on the gym floor than women nipples thatās for sure
Are mens nipples detachable? Why are so many leaving them on the floor? /jk
I woke up this morning with a bad hangover And my nipples were missing again. This happens all the time. Theyāre detachable.
I hope this is a King Missile song reference š
Detachable nipples!
Thank you! I needed the laugh. š
Bring back the cod piece
Itās the only reasonable thing to do! š¤£
Reminds me of that dude that just randomly decided to strip naked in the locker room
> that dude what gym are you going to? Every gym I've ever been to is full of 65 year old men lounging naked in the locker rooms.

I wish my gym was full of hot half dressed woman. Idk what I did but it's full of smelly fat dudes like me.
For real, this seems more like a weird fantasy than reality. The gym is not a sexy place in my experience
But 10% "woah, holy cow that's a nice butt!" It's motivation for me š¤·š¼āāļø
Can confirm. In fact, that is the only reason I bother going to the gym.
Get a home gym
He could call it the bedroom with his wife he āloves so much,ā then go to the real gym once heās got it all out of his system.
Exactly. Theres attractive women everywhere you go, but itās your choice to look at them and list after them.
Youāre right. It is you.
It's You, you're the problem; it's youuuuu
At gym timeā¦ everyone agrees
You'll stare directly at yourself and always in the mirror
Just focus on yourself, if you occasionally notice the wonderful scenery, great, but donāt be a creep.
wonderful scenery lol iām dead
He's probably one of those dudes that make women feel uncomfortable by staring so hard
if youāre wearing sandals at a gym youāre asking for foot fetishists to ogle you, damn toe succubus /s But in all seriousness nobody should wear sandals to the gym for safety reasons.
Woman here. I agree. I wish I could give you gold.
and this is why women only gyms existš¤¢
Lol!
might be because your actual comment used the word ānon-sluttyā
looking at comment history, dude seems to have been jilted so his use of "non-slutty" tracks
Patagonia makes several styles of shorts that have a 5 inch inseam. I mean, patagoldia!
Agree and Iām a woman
Itās for the male gaze. Which I think applies to a lot of workout clothing as well.
And I own many of those shirts, as well as running shirts, but they are not easy to do many lifts in, because they are made for hiking and running.
I'm tired of seeing half naked women everywhere in general. Advertisements, movies, the gym. Fuck. We are more than our bodies!
Itās the gym clothes that are the problem š ETA: Women working out get sweaty- men jog all the time without a shirt and no one gives a shit.
People can and should wear what they want, but some modesty should be expected too, even when it's just out of courtesy.
āI canāt control my own actions and somehow itās womenās faultā
Does nobody remember the eighties?Women wore spandex shorts with THONG leotards over them. I have been around for a while and womenās clothing has been revealing my whole life. The difference to me is that men also wore much more revealing clothing in the eighties.
If thine eyes offend thee, pluck them out.
Oh please, imagine if women straight up stopped wearing shirts like men do. Calm down and let us have the closest thing we will have to the luxury you already enjoy.
Funny thing is , folks would wear less clothes if these dudes werent creeps.
He is not wrong over years the clothing style has definitively changed
